Which console has gotten the greatest share of new IPs so far this gen?

And lets not forget Infinite Undiscovery, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Cry On, Dead Rising, Lost Planet, Perfect Dark is a new IP for the 360, Banjo & Kazzooie, Eternal Sonata {its still only on the 360 mind you until the PS3 fabled release]

I thought we were listing quality new ips? most of those are average to below average.

well the games that have a * on the name, means that they were hyped and flopped. And I didn't want to put Wii Sports or Wii Fiit because they are essential games. lol I'm not making sense i'll put them in.

raving rabbids is a new IP... kinda.. it was rayman

but its obvious that rayman is.. like non existant in this franchise now

PS3 IMO, it got us excited and hyped for Lair, Motorstorm, Resistance, Uncharter, Heavenly Sword...

Sony hasn't even released their big hitter sequels yet.

I think you're right. I've never played Systemshock either, but I have heard that mentioned before when it comes to Bioshock.
Only by fanchildren desperatly trying to discredit Bioshock's critical and financial success. Bioshock is a "spritual successor" in the same way that Quake is the spiritual successor to Doom.

Also, why are exclusives the only things that count? New IP is new IP, so if you get a new IP on the PC360 that's a new IP. If you get a new IP on PSWii that's a new IP.

Wii:

Boom Blox
Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure
No More Heroes
Wii Fit
Rayman Raving Rabbids*
Wii Sports
Excite Truck*
Elebits
Endless Ocean
Super Swing Golf
Kororinpa: Marble Mania
Dewy's Adventure
Red Steel
Smarty Pants
EA Playground
Battle of the Bands
Wii Play
Carnival Games
Boogie
Samurai Warriors: Katana
Ninja Reflex
Nitrobike
Wing Island

360:

BioShock
Gears of War
Mass Effect
Viva Pinata
Dead Rising
Crackdown
Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis**
Saints Row
Condemned**
Kameo: Elements of Power
Eternal Sonata**
Lost Odyssey
Lost Planet**
Blue Dragon
Scene It? Lights, Camera, Action

PS3:

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune
Resistance: Fall of Man
MotorStorm
Heavenly Sword
Folklore
The Eye of Judgment
Haze
Lair

* Controversial. RRR is an entirely new type of game with a past IP shoveled in. Excite Truck is technically an extension of the Excite Bike line of games

**I'm counting new IPs that were later ported more than six months later to other platforms as a new IP for the launch platform

I also didn't count any IPs that were launched simultaneously on multiple platforms, as well as ones that haven't been released yet.

New multiplatform IPs this gen:

Rock Band
Skate
Assassin's Creed
The Darkness
Stranglehold
Army of Two
The Club
Dark Sector
F.E.A.R.
Enchanted Arms
Kane & Lynch: Dead Men
Clive Barker's Jericho
Turning Point: Fall of Liberty

I don't think being based on a board game should disqualify something as a new IP since the markets are so totally separate. I do agree that Scene It! could be removed, though, since the board game is almost like a videogame. Although I could also see arguing that arcade games count as new IPs since arcades are dead outside of Japan... eh, list warz.

Really though, you list warriors are still missing a lot of stuff simply because of obscurity. Where's Call of Juarez? Defend Your Castle? Random EyeToy game?

lol if you have to add side notes, footnotes, and shit then it don't count.

Condense the nonsense people.

It's about new IP... it doesn't matter if it's a different market, it's still an established IP. I mean, should every new film based license then count too? Every new sports license? Television? Book?

Counting shovelware then the Wii by far. Not counting shovelware then I'd say 360.

I'd say this is spot on.

But surely we aren't counting shovelware like Ninjabreadman are we?

Decent to great new IPs then it's 360 by a stretch.

EDIT: Now that I think about it some more, the PS3 has quite a few also. Wow, we really are blessed this gen.

I don't own an eyetoy but random eyetoy game likely falls into the shovelware category.

Sure, why wouldn't they? They just normally don't get list warz'd because licensed stuff tends to suck and winds up on almost every platform. But I'd consider board games like Carcassone or whatever the Strongbad game is as new IPs.

I like to pretend that there's a world of unexplored PSN gaming that I'm missing by not owning an EyeToy, and that's how things are going to stay.

It's literally not a new IP. It might be a new game, new game series, but it's not a new IP.

Then you are missing out.. While theres some crap, theres a couple good things too.

I'd agree this isn't a new IP. The transition is even less a jump than, say, Carcassone or Settlers, because Scene It? already had a video component.

The PSP game Coded Soul is based on Folklore, not the other way around. It's not even out yet.

Energy Airforce. In fact Over G went by that title when it was still in development.

Folklore came after, and is based on the same universe as Monster Kingdom.

Gotcha.

Alrighty then. Reading a FAQ the PSP Monster Kingdom doesn't look like it's set in the real world at all, but I do see that Folklore was initially itself called Monster Kingdom, so it must be the case.

Of course, the real question isn't whether PS3 has more new IPs than 360, because it clearly doesn't. The question is whether 360 has more than Wii. Given all the multiplats on PS360 or PC/360, and especially if you include XBLA titles, I bet it does.
