Like others have said, the SNES, PS1, and DS are excelled when it came to JRPGs. I'd argue that the GBA did as well thanks to all of the SNES ports, and the 3DS is shaping up to be another JRPG machine. I would say that the PSP and the Vita are also excellent when it comes to JRPGs.

PS2 - All of them.

Compared to the PS3, PS2 lacked most of the important shooters of its gen.

PSOne- rpgs

Seriously, these two were the golden age of jrpgs for me.

N64, Gamecube, Wii, WiiU- the Nintendo Genre (Nintendo games! duh)
Saturn- obscure, but brilliant Sega titles
Dreamcast- Arcade style games, and more obscure, but brilliant Sega titles
PS2- it only does everything

I suppose so, but that was before the rise of shooters on consoles.

And while the DS had a lot of JRPGs, the vast majority were ports. It was lacking an original selection to call its own, so I don't think it belongs in the same tier as the PS1 and PS2.

X360 - Halo/COD

PS2- 3D platformer and platformer hybrids. 3 Jak games, 3 Sly games, 3 Ratchet games, 2 Maximo games, Ape Escape, and just about every mutli-plat that mattered

I think that 360 is a great system for character action titles.

Ninja Gaiden 2 (the real deal not that Sigma 2 crap)
Bayonetta (same as NG2 the worth playing version)
Metal Gear Rising

Also some not as good as the above exclusives/console exclusives as well like Bullet Witch, Ninja Blade plus the two Dishwasher titles on XBLA.

Honestly all the system needed was Godhand to become the ultimate character action machine, too bad we never saw an HD version of this.
