Which Games Have Just BORED You to DEATH?

GTA IV: In no way, shape or form does this game have anything decent about it. Terrible gameplay, little to do, muddy graphics, repetitive mission structure, stupid storyline, motherfucking cellphone!, etc.

Rockstar redeemed themselves with Red Dead Redemption and L.A. Noire, cause GTA IV is easily one of the worst games I have played.

Hm. I´ve been thinking about getting Red Dead Redemption. If I thought GTAIV had a mediocre story, annoying missions without any real variety and a game world where there weren´t enough worthwile things to do besides the story missions, will I like Red Dead Redamption any better?

Short answer: Yes.

A lot more actually!

Story wise you got a much better written protagonist, a much more interesting setting, better characters and character development overall(so no stupid excuses like "The characters were supposed to be unlikable!"). Gameplay wise you got much better gunplay, horses are more versatile than cars, duels are fun and the missions always give you either something different or a more challenging similar mission with enough differences to make it fresh.

And the world has so much to do! Bounty hunting, hunting animals, collecting, stranger missions, minigames and more. Plus if you like westerns you can't miss out on this.

Almost all the Zelda games. I usually like playing through the first 3 dungeons but after that it just seems to offer nothing new and most of the times the story isn't really there to keep you going. As a matter of fact, the only Zelda game I've ever finished was The Wind Waker

Far Cry 2 and Dead Space 2 are the only games that have made me wish I was doing something else. It's a shame because I liked the first installments of both series as well.

edit: woo, i'm no longer a junior!

RDR was my goty. GTAIV has been one my most regrettable purchases this gen. Its unfortunate LA NOIRE seems to have more in common with the latter.

Enslaved bored the shit out of me. Irritating characters, clunky combat and tedious tutorial handholding masquerading as 'platforming'.

it's a massive, empty slab of land and you just ride your horse from place to place, trying to make it to your destination before you get nauseous and vomit from the busted frame rate

the boss fights were fun for the most part but everything in between was a chore, but I guess I was supposed to feel something
You're right on the money. They should have just built it around the boss battles, leave the filler traveling stuff to minimum and leave the story like it is.

I wouldn't say that about L.A. Noire, it is a pretty great game actually.

I would say Eternal Sonata. Once I started skipping the extremely dull and badly paced cutscenes (which was basically a first for me) only to continue with the boring combat/gameplay I realised that there was absolutely nothing in that game for me and quit.

Call me crazy, but Red Dead Redemption.
My issue with that game is the one I tend to go through many games. I get to a point half way or near the end and sort of put it down for a few days. RDR was like that in that I really enjoyed it but maybe the setting or me getting a little tired of playing that excessively prevented me from finishing it. I finally did after seeing too many spoiler and wondering what they were about. It was no big deal and I really enjoyed the post game of RDR. GTAIV, never beat it but got halfway. Re-bought it for dirt cheap on PC and go back just for MP. Is a really fun game still, especially with mods on PC.

actually pretty much all free roaming games bore me to death.
Burnout paradise, gta, fallout, etc
yaawn
I hate them with a passion so much. Walk from point A to point B then back to point A make up the bulk of these games. I actually loved Fallout 3 more because there was something about the environment that seemed fresh. But I couldn't finish GTA IV, refused to play Burnout Paradise's campaign, thought Red Faction was the worst offender of having me ping pong between large distances, and think free-roaming from level to level in Sonic Adventure is just a terrible timesink.

I actually applaud Mass Effect 2 for removing the bulk of the unneccessary free-roaming. People go gaga over open-world games but most of the time it's just copy-pasted environments created to waste time as a player just holds the joystick forward to move to the actual gameplay.
It probably also has something to do with me not having as much time to play games any more these days so I hate the idea of spending time just walking.

A post in another thread reminded me of one: Lunar: Eternal Blue Complete (PS1). The original Sega/Mega CD game is maybe my favorite JRPG of all time, but the remake is just so goddamn boring. It's the same game, but without many of the things I loved from the original. And I basically despise GameArts now for endlessly remaking the first two games.

Based on what you said that's actually surprising. WW might be the most boring of all the console Zelda games.

Super Mario Galaxy 1 and Super Mario Galaxy 2. I get the whole pure simplistic platforming focus, but I just don't care about going from point A to point B simply to move onto the next level of moving from point A to point B. I need to be motivated and feel rewarded for my efforts when I play a game. But at the end of both games, I feel like I'm still at the beginning, instead. I realize SMG1 and SMG2 are really good games, but I just lose interest immediately when I try to play through them.

I'm barely beyond the beginning and while I love the setting, I can't bring myself to progress through the story (which I hear is great, but the end was already spoiled for me unfortunately).

It might sound ridiculous, but I'm kind of overwhelmed with everything in-between the story missions. It's almost like I don't know what I should be doing to have any kind of fun beyond riding back and forth between locations and enjoying the view of the various landscapes.

L.A. Noire

What an awful boring repetitive game, everything you do don't even matter, go search for clues or no, the cases solve itself automatically, on rail chase scenes, uninteresting characters and story, soulless and dull city with nothing at all to do.

Aftet the Getaway and this, I will not buy any other game from McNamara.

Ouch, that doesn´t sound like a game I would want to play.

Melal Gear Solid 4. The single most fucking boring piece of god damn shit I have ever played. Snippits of horrible controlling gameplay intersected with the worst B grade Asian soap opera story ever.

Which game is that?

Red Dead Redemption and inFamous - Two open world games with nothing to do! Especially in the case of RDR, a huge open world in such a unused setting for a game, with no great use of the game world. Boring!

Halo: ODST and Halo: Reach - In the case of ODST, the subject matter was boring. Characters I didn't like or care for made the game hard to finish (I didn't). With Halo: Reach, I did finish the game, to close out the story, but my god, what a boring story I could only muster the tiniest bit of care for. But the most egregious error of the game that has such a sterile online mode. Tons of different modes top play which all bore. I think that's mostly attributed to the fact that they took the ranking mode out of all the playlists, and put it into one playlist and made it one of the most needlessly complicated things on this earth.

Gran Turismo 5 - I'm not sure what bored me about this game, but it just bored me. I really can't put my finger on it, but after all the waiting, It barely kept my attention for a month.

Call of Duty: Black Ops - The same tired online gameplay from CoD is really starting to wear on me. I really can't find too much fun in the gameplay anymore.

Maximo. I think that's the only game I actually quit out of boredom. I would have returned it if I could.

The best levels are clustered toward the end. If you don't like New Alexandria or Exodus, you shouldn't bother finishing the game.

What's so great about the Grand Canyon anyway? It's just a hole in the ground. Niagara Falls? Lol, who left the tap on?

No, for Christ's sake, I'm not saying SotC is better than these things. I'm illustrating how pessimism knows no limits.

All three of those games were made by different teams. Rockstar North has yet to release anything since GTA4.

The problem with that game is that it´s designed as they don´t want you to play. In Gran Turismo mode it´s often a challenge to try and get into races because of all restrictions, and then the cars differ so much that it´s either like you can´t win no matter what, or you win the races by 40-50 seconds. And then there is the hopeless UI and the extreme loading times on top of that.

Surprisingly, I think you summed up a lot of my own sentiments about the two games. I can't say that they're bad games, but ODST all out bored me. I agree with your feelings about the ranking mode in Reach, but my list of issues would continue on for a couple more pages lol.

You mean getting one star and getting berated is solving the case? Yeah no, you just close the case but you didn't solve it, that's why you can replay it.

I was bored to fucking death with this game and I have tried 3 times to complete it and never can, it just runs on, and on, and on, the characters have no life, the story is well, none existent, it was a graphical giant in 2004, got it for free so I don't feel like I wasted money...
I've made it to Nova Prospekt 6 times and have never gone beyond that point.

The Second Part (Mexico) of Red Dead Redemption was one of the dullest parts of any game I've ever played. It drove me near insane, riding from dull place to dull place, doing dull missions and praying for something to happen. I stuck with it because I had heard that the ending was interesting narratively (which it was), but it took a lot of effort. Part 3 of the game was much better.

You think so? I played WW last year and enjoyed it quite a bit. Some of the stuff in TP is pretty boring, I'd call that the most boring console Zelda. Still good though.

Good. I know they were made by different teams, and I'm glad Rockstar North didn't fuckover the other teams.

You can often get 5 stars and still not solve the case :p

Starfox Adventures on Gamecube - What a boring game!

Assassin's Creed 2 - Boring and played through just because I felt I had too.

Fallout 3 - Amazing reviews but after 2-3 hours I was bored shitless. Never put it back in the 360.

Recently, Okamiden. GAF is the reason I went out and bought the game and I just can't get into it. Feels like a giant fetch quest and the battles are incredibly boring.
