Which games that everyone else hates do you love??

Sims... Well it's probably hated only in elitist gaming formus.

Ultima IX was generally hated back in the days but don't know what's todays status. I always loved Ultima IX.

Dynowarz

Apparently a lot of people hate Bubble Bobble as well, or don't even give it much thought. I lvoe me some Bubble Bobble.

Mysterious Dungeon games, sure there's a bunch on GAF that like them, but you should see the hate those series get from Nethackers :\

I can like both at the same time! Why can't others?

Big up for mentioning Dynowarz!!! I would say, CIMA: The Enemy, I've never seen that game get any sort of love around here. And FF7 I've always had a soft spot for. SaGa Frontier, and FFL1, hell many 8-bit RPGs too on top of that, I like more than most people.

And lately it seems like the whole RPG genre is getting too much excess hate, too many add-inflicted little kids coming into this hobby during the Halo era :P

Seems as though its on the bottom rung, if not the bottom slot whenever people rate the games in the series.

But isn't that more so a testament to how good the rest of the series is?

Which fucking ruled as well. DMC in 1994
and better too
!

Heh, I bought the game recently (based on a recommendation from drohne). I can't get past the Mega Man style disappearing blocks on the rotating tower board :( Was LOVING the game up till that part, seems they disappear faster than you can jump onto them.

Bullet Witch-it has it's problems but the magic and run and gun gameplay doesn't get old.
FFVII: Crisis Core - I really liked the story and the battle sequences even the slot machine
for the most part

"Love" is too strong a word in this case but I thought Lair and its motion control weren't nearly as bad as people made it sound.

You also seem to be the only other person aside from me who had ever heard of Skyblazer.

I too, am well aware of this obscure action-platformer. Finished it in one sitting when I was a kid, got tired of it and sold it away. I'll probably buy it again someday, though. Big SNES/SFC fan.

Heavenly Sword
Civilization Revolution (Console versions)
Dark Sector (w/PS3 Sixaxis support)
Savage Moon
Socom 4 (loved it as a game, hated it as a scoom title)

Mega Man 5 and 6
Donkey Kong Country 3
New Super Mario Bros.
Jak 3
Metroid Fusion
Metroid Prime 2
Castlevania: HoD

Do people hate any of those games?

Army Men: Sarge's Heroes on N64. I know it's awful, but I played it so extensively in my naivety that I just can't hate it.

At the time I didn't like DKC3. But I was really really young and didn't get the overworld despite all my Final Fantasy-ing. I bet it's a ton better than I remember it.

I mean, we can all agree it wasn't DKC2 by any stretch. But I didn't think anyone hated it. It was still a great game, just a bit of a departure from 1 and 2.

Bioshock Infinite

you could tell at some point Irrational streamlined all their bigger ideas just to meet their deadline. But still, a beautiful game, swashbuckling gameplay, amazing story... too bad it sunk the studio

There's a lot of games I love that are being mentioned in here that I don't think count (Tales of Symphonia, Final Fantasy XII, Chrono Cross, EDIT: and others, sigh), so I won't pick those for myself.

As for a game I love that most other people hate? Silent Hill: Homecoming. Downpour also.

I'm sure there's other games that fit the criteria that I can't recall right now...

Ninety Nine Nights, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West, DmC (new one), Metro 2033 pre-redux, Bound by Flame, Mars War Logs.

Few from the top of my head.

Oh, and Destiny?

Shadowrun (the fps one) I know all the fans of the original games would have the game destroyed for eternity, but it is still my favourite fps of all time, the gameplay was incredible, it was perfect and it felt balanced. I would kill for a remake or a game that takes ideas from it.

Magic guns and tech just worked perfectly together.

Star Fox Assault and Metroid: Other M

With Star Fox I get a diverse singleplayer and amazing multiplayer that hasn't been challenged since it's release in 2005

for Other M I'm willing to accept its faults but down to the core gameplay I enjoyed it a lot.

Final Fantasy XII
Chrono Cross
Magus
Tales of Graces f
Driveclub
Destiny

I'm not sure what Magus is but those other games aren't really hated. Let's not confuse 100 posters here with anything larger and more significant.

Mine is definitely Quest 64. I'm well aware that it was probably a side effect of being so RPG starved(N64 was my only console that gen, had to play PS1/Saturn at friends') but I overall thought it was a really fun game. The leveling was different, as was the 4 elements. More so than party based RPGs, you felt your character growing stronger because the spells got bigger and badder as you leveled each element and you directly controlled combat instead of selecting from a menu like most console RPGs at the time. The story was throwaway, but I can get over that if gameplay is fun enough. The game was somewhat short also, I definitely beat it in a rental and there was basically nothing left to do.

What I love about necrobumps is when people reply to the 5 year old posts, laggiest conversation ever.

Blame @NeoGAFNewThreads this time, it just tweeted this for some reason.

To be on topic, I love Quest 64. It's not a great game, it's actually fairly annoying, but it had a ton of great and fresh ideas that mostly just needed refinement IMO. The c button input for menus was brilliant, monsters could be pretty cool, I don't agree a strong story was entirely necessary, build options were a great idea though anything but water/rock is suicide. It was a flawed innovation not a completely bad game.

If we're talking about what GAF mostly hates, GTA 4.

If we're talking about reviewers and critics, then Gungrave: Overdose for PS2. I had a blast with that game.

Too Human

Solid RPG mechanics with some depth at end game.
Difficult.
Fast-paced combat.
Interesting take on Norse mythology.

This game got killed by negative pre-release PR and reviews. I wish they had been given a chance to work on a sequel, learning from the mistakes of the first game.

Didn't realize this was a necro!

Not so much a full game as it is a Mini-game.

Blitzball

I like Blitzball, most hate it but it was the only mini-game in FFX I enjoyed.
