White and black mage, moogle outfits coming to FF13-2 in May

People are still expecting this to happen through DLC? :lol

Well judging by the screenshots, especially the one with the throne, I'd say some significant plot info is going to be revealed.

Also, I'm slightly hoping this will be a proper DLC with walking etc not just a few cutscenes a figith, mainly due to the fact that it's coming a full 3 months after the game's been out and they were pretty much always talking about this DLC so they must have been working on it for some time.

SE will easily have shipped a couple of million units of XIII-2, so even if it hasn't sold through that number they'll have covered costs and then some.

FF XIII was an expensive title to produce, XIII-2 not nearly so much - its blatantly obvious if you look at the two games side-by-side.

I don't follow final fantasy, is this drop sales and popularity just for FF13 and it's sequel or it's something with the entire FF brand( since iirc FF14 also bombed and SE were milked FF in the past few years way to much with tons of remakes/rereleses and spin offs )

Iirc 13 managed to move ~6m which is around the same as 12 before it. 13-2 released with substantially lower figures, something like 500k in the first week in Japan vs 13's ~1.5m. As a reference I believe 10-2 moved over a million in its initial week. People felt burned by 13 and made clear that a sequel was not necessarily in high demand, now the previously expected 13-3 is seen as up in the air, though as someone said 13-2's performance is still likely quite profitable for S-E granted its recycling of assets, DLC, etc so who knows.

Also is Snow's episode really just a few cutscenes and a battle? That has to be the worst episodic DLC I've ever heard of...

Typically when people say they want the real ending, they don't mean an explanation behind what we've already gotten. They want a brand new resolution.

Come on man, come on. Making some outfits for characters is not "considerable effort". It's a cynical attempt to produce the cheapest content to sell at the highest prices, knowing their fan base will go crazy over playing dress up. The Lost and The Damned for GTAIV was considerable effort. Shivering Isles for Oblivion was considerable effort. £1.59 for a single outfit is barely even approaching "effort" let alone a considerable amount.

S-E being a business trying to make money is a poor argument and comes off sounding like "If you don't like it then ner ner ner!". There are better ways to make money than rape your fan base by spunking out overpriced DLC.

For a game with a ton of cinematics, costumes do need to be carefully designed to not cause all kind of graphical hiccups. As to your other concerns, I think you are taking a western approach to this. The majority of games in Japan seem to focus their DLC on omgcostumes (see Tales games) or fluff. SE is a Japanese company appealing to their consumer base. We are getting these costumes almost as an afterthought. I imagine they expect the scenarios and coliseum fights to be more of the big sellers over here and it appears that has been the case (though bikini Serah is a universal turn on apparently lol).

Another caius battle ?

This better be more than that ..i don't want to be restricted in one place , like sazh was , especially to keep company to mini chocobos

Hooray?

If this Barbie dress-up nonsense is what Final Fantasy has become, then I'm done. Should've seen it coming as early as X-2.

It's pretty clear that XIII-2 was meant for 10 year old girls. I regretted paying $60 for it and have sent it on it's way to Gamestop, let it make some 10 year old girl happy. Atleast I got $23 back, better than nothing I guess.

Wait...what? How? Did you even play the game?

No, I paid $60 for it and never played it. Of course I played it and it just didn't grab me, then after a few months of collecting dust I went back to it and saw all the cosmetic DLC and decided that I didn't even want to bother. This game wasn't meant for me in the same way X-2 wasn't meant for me.

I see Noel looks ridiculous, as always. And a black mage outfit without a black mage hat?! That just isn't right.

Though Mog's adorable.

In anticipation for the next waves of DLCs, I went and grabbed the ones I hadn't already (4 battles, the AssCreed costume and the free one, left the ME costumes, not interested in them).
I'm ready for Lightning and Black/White Mage! Snow might get ignored just like the ME costumes though.

As someone who stopped playing FF13 shortly after reaching Gran Pulse, I honestly can't believe this cash train is still rolling with crap like this. What happened Square? You used to be a master smith of epic fantasies. Now you just peddle demented clothing for digital kids...

This is the same company that had little girls transforming into adults in a few weeks, rapist Octopie, and a man who dressed up as a woman.

Final Fantasy has never been above crazy/weird shit. XIII-2 Costumes are quite tame compared to what has come in the past.

Yeah...

Related: how much would I spend on FFXIII-2 to get all the content? $60 for the original base game when it came out plus all the DLC? Must be over $100 by now.

People are so aginst DlC outfits. Why? Can you explain that?

They don't want SE making money so they can go out of business? As I said, DLC costumes are a hot sell now so why can't SE take advantage of it. Most of the costumes are actually really awesome too. Only the bikini one is REALLY out of place.

I am surprised people don't complain about the 10 bucks for an awesome party member in ME3. Or do they?

It's not so much of a problem in FFXIII-2 where, despite the costumes being overpriced, are both fairly new additions to the franchise and are usually better than the default costumes. At the very least, it doesn't do it as poorly as Namco does with Tales by taking a pretty common staple of the series out of the equation by dime-and-nickle-ing the fuck out of the audience with loads of disc-locked costumes that would have been in normally.

Personally, I have more of a problem with how poorly they handled the substantive coliseum DLC more than anything else.

I don't know how you managed to miss the complaints over the ME3 DLC character, especially when considered what the party is and what the party member actually adds to the overall lore of the series.

Pricing has leaked out:
Snow’s episode will go for 640MSP, or likely $7.99. Lightning’s Story will be priced at 560MSP or around $6.99.
Lightning’s episode is said to be 440.45MB in size and further details confirm she has the ability to join your party once completing the mission. Of course, the episode can only be accessed once the main Final Fantasy XIII-2 has been completed.

Could be fake though, so grain of salt, etc.

Frankly, I would have wanted more of those type of outfits myself, but as long as the costume looks nice I'm happy.

I hope it's fake, 440mb for 7$... can't be anything worthy :(

Snow's episode is more expensive than Lightning's? I wonder why...maybe because of the Valdfor's repeated battles?

I don't think it's fake, but I don't think they're correct about Snow's episode being 640 MSP. What the screens show is that there's a sort of "Fight in Style" pack that will be priced at 640 MSP, so it could be a big costume pack or something. There is nothing there which shows Snow's episode.

Wasn't that pack already been released a while ago? I mean the one initially set as a pre-order item with OMEGA and two costumes in it – "Fight in Style" – then released later as a DLC.

I have no idea. How much is it?

3.99€/640MSP in Europe, released on March 6th, 2012. Snow's episode should also be called like the others DLC starting with his name first: "Lightning: Requiem of the Goddess", "Sazh: Heads or Tails" ect. – so the chinese source got it wrong.
