This is basically a dictatorship with the amount of EO's by Trump. I find it funny when Republican's were attacking Obama for "abusing" the executive branch now when the sides flip then it's ok.

In the best lightest time line the executive order is prohibiting Microsoft from trying to force adverts in windows10.

This time line however maybe we should start to.shut down websites spreading radical views like politco etc

Friendly reminder:

As far as the cyber, I agree to parts of what Secretary Clinton said, we should be better than anybody else, and perhaps we're not. I don't know if we know it was Russia who broke into the DNC.

She's saying Russia, Russia, Russia. Maybe it was. It could also be China, it could be someone sitting on their bed that weighs 400 pounds. You don't know who broke into DNC, but what did we learn? We learn that Bernie Sanders was taken advantage of by your people. By Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

Look what happened to her. But Bernie Sanders was taken advantage of. Now, whether that was Russia, whether that was China, whether it was another country, we don't know, because the truth is, under President Obama we've lost control of things that we used to have control over. We came in with an internet, we came up with the internet.

And I think Secretary Clinton and myself would agree very much, when you look at what ISIS is doing with the internet, they're beating us at our own game. ISIS. So we have to get very, very tough on cyber and cyber warfare. It is a, it is a huge problem.

I have a son. He's 10 years old. He has computers. He is so good with these computers, it's unbelievable. The security aspect of cyber is very, very tough. And maybe it's hardly doable. But I will say, we are not doing the job we should be doing, but that's true throughout our whole governmental society. We have so many things that we have to do better, Lester, and certainly cyber is one of them.

”And you know cyber is becoming so big today. It's becoming something that a number of years ago, a short number of years ago, wasn't even word. And now the cyber is so big, and you know you look at what they're doing with the internet. "

”But cyber has been very, very important and it's becoming more and more important as you look and a lot of it does have to do with ideology and psychology and a lot of other things," Trump continued. ”You know, we're in a very different world than we were in 20 years ago, 30 years ago."

I too, am very concerned about The Cyber.

I don't know if this is the right place for this but does anyone know what the record is for the amount of EOs instituted in the first 100 days?

I don't ever remember the abuse of executive orders as prevalent as it is now.

I don't mean to alarm you but you have dogs on your face

Republicans' criticisms of Obama largely had no basis in reality. They're the world's biggest hypocrites.

I bet would be something like this:

1) We will fight terrorists checking the internet ( everyone that talks bad about him)
2) ISP have to provide all information (users history, porn sites)
3) He will tell what you can see and what not (kim style)

It's absurd. When it becomes an expected daily occurrence, something isn't right.

Its crazy, exactly what I was thinking, this is an everday occurance. Somebody needs to step up and call out this bullshit

I do fully expect Net Neutrality to be shoehorned into this EO tomorrow. It just keeps getting worse

Nightmare scenario: He basically pulls a 1984 but instead of book burning, expect loss of internet or a "filtered" internet :(

For what its worth, I looked up a list of executive orders and compared Obama's to Trump's, specifically up to the 30th of January for both.

Obama by this date in his first term had issues 8 EOs.

Trump's at 7, though the page for his EOs also include the "memoranda" which aren't quite EOs, and he has a number there too.

Thanks! Its interesting, I'm wondering if part of it is Trumps insistence on making all of the EOs events unto themselves. Did Obama just sign 8 and move on to other business, or did he drag them out like a reality TV show, effectively signing certain ones on certain days for maximum exposure/ratings? lol

Thanks for the link though, its interesting to see Obama basically averaged 8 a year. If Trump is at 7 now and rumors of at least 5 others (who knows how many more after that) He's going to blow out every other presidents first year

Based on the draft of this EO relayed via the Washington Post, this one seems rather innocuous and by-the-numbers.
That said, it could be the forerunner of something much more daunting and autocratic based on the recommendations that will be tabled two months from now.

What if he just front loaded all the horrific shit so the reasonable orders start to come out and a plurality of this dumb fucking memory-of-a-goldfish country will be like "oh good he's improving" or some shit.

And then they just keep doing that for four more years.

If you weigh 400 pounds or more, you are no longer allowed Internet access without supervision.

Also Russia now has full access to the American government's internal networks.

Well, I mean Obama's first 8 werent affronts to the Constitution so they didn't get much play. Close Guantonomo was one of them.

This is like a copy paste from Obama's cyber security EO, so basically useless

I'll be interested to see the mental gymnastics his online ardent defenders will go through for this. Will this be where the worm turns?
