White UCLA student rants on Asian students.

The backlash will only make her hate Asians more. For all the hate, there are likely just as many people who agree with her; they just aren't dumb enough to say it on Youtube.

Edit: Just watched both videos. The response really wasn't *that* good.

I'm amazed that your racism scale is a simple 1-10. You must use most of that scale up before breakfast.
Actually after my breakfast of egg whites on white toast with white gravy I brush my white teeth and I've pretty much maxed out for the day.

White gravy is delish.

You ought to switch to crossaints. Racially neutral and yummy to boot.

I wonder when non-English speakers make fun of English, do they throw together and string random words into an incoherent babel? like: "IcesiclesPopsiclesDickliclesObamaBrushBatman"
I have no idea but I'd love to find out! Any youtubes available for this?

Eddie Murphy had a bit that Asian people make their eyes really wide and talk slowly and loudly.

Only if their only knowledge of English speakers are Scots.

I'd love to see someone 'faking' English. I get a good laugh out of the Giant Bomb guys when they effect 'British' accents but I reckon it'd be even funnier coming from someone that couldn't string a sentence together in English.

You lot going to start speaking English? About time too.

She was stupid but I don't see the big deal. It was kind of blunt and certainly not very insightful but I don't really think of it as all that racist or shocking.

And the bit about asians speaking on phones in the library might have some truth to it. She was totally correct about the part about asian kids (or really any second generation immigrants) having their parents do their laundry/cook their food when they're in college. That might show some developmental problems with the culture but it's at worst slightly annoying.

In the 3 and a half years it took to get my degree I never went to the library, so I don't know anything about that, but I had a roommate whose parents would drive for 2 hours to come do his laundry, his shopping, his cleaning, etc. He was showered with gifts every time too. Shit like a $500 video cards and power supply (I think this was on his birthday), SCUBA gear, scooters, this fucking thing

(no, he didn't have a canoe, that's like some sort of messed up skateboard), etc.

Fucking embarrassing as all get out to have his parents in the apartment doing dishes and cleaning the bathroom. Not because it was a mess (the rest of us kept the place clean) but because he would just sit at his computer watching Scrubs the whole time, his parents didn't speak any English (or not that we knew of), and the rest of us had to find some excuse to leave or pretend to be busy in another room. He was Philippino.

Not saying this behavior is typical of asians (none of my other asian friends/roommates/girlfriend had this issue) but just that it sticks out like a sore thumb when it does occur. Precious baby boy syndrome.

I turned it off when she said "Oh! Ching Chong Ting Tong..."

It's sad that she is in the same major as me.

haha, i love the fucking face she makes when shes trying to get the kid to be quiet on his phone. typical american shit LOL

but seriously people in the library need to SHUT THE FUCK UP.

I'm not going to lie, everyone is a dick in a college library and I hate everyone in them. There is nothing worse then trying to study for a Semiconductors test and having a group of people talking as loud as possible about anything not related to school at all. I have no problem with this happening in the designated group study areas, but for fucks sake I went to the 5th floor for the quiet study section, SHUT UP. I always hated going to the computer lab in the library because it was 20% people actually doing schoolwork on MATLAB, AutoCAD, or any other engineering program, and 80% people playing games, facebooking, and talking on cell phones. When you have a programming project due the next day you really start to get annoyed at people.

She's probably picking on Asians because it's really easy to get annoyed when you are on a deadline (Test, paper due, etc..) and the more foreign a sound (hah) and the less you know it the more annoying it is. As someone who only speaks English, I can say that hearing someone speak Chinese, Japanese, or Hindi loudly while you are trying to figure out why your fucking code won't compile for the 30th time might be the most aggravating thing in the world.

I'm sure if I spoke any of those languages it wouldn't bother me at all and instead I'd get pissed at the sound of the return air from the air conditioner, or the sound of the birds outside, or the sound people make when they walk on the tile, but it's just so much easier to pick on people!

I in no way support her racism, but for the love of god shut up when you are in the library.

Damn I wish that I had it like that in college. I don't care what anyone says, I rather have a normal and consistent spoon fed life with supportive people and etc. Basically the exact opposite of how I grew up.

I had a friend whose parents bought him a new sports car every time he wrecked it and generally paid for everything and he didnt like it much because we always made fun of him for getting everything easy while we had to work multiple jobs to survive through college. He was kinda embarrassed by it I think.

Well, looking at her, I can think of one way she got in. If you know what I mean.

Junior transfer from Los Angeles Valley College? Yeah, I thought so too.

No offense to LAVC people here. Well ok, yes I did intend to offend.

Her complaints are fairly reasonable (and I expected them to be ridiculous)- the library is for study, not communication and perhaps people should learn to fend for themselves at some point(Though I fail to see why this should be a big complaint). However that she makes this a race issue makes it horrible. As soon as she starts her pathetic disclaimer you can see the racist path she's going down...

Having only watched the video on mute, I agree that the library is for study and not for talking to people.
Be silent in the library :|

Asians were easily the most quiet and focused people at my school (University of Ottawa). I was in the engineering program, though.

Complaining about Asian social structures just shows how well she'll do in Political Science.

OK, so that makes it ok?

What do 1st generation Asian parents tell their kids about white people?

Nil. My mom rarely brought about the subject of race when I was a kid.

Lately I've come to accept that a majority of people in America regardless of race have sentiments that will be labeled as racist once made manifest. I'm slowly doubting that a post-racial society would ever appear.

The girl in the video should have a nice chat with Beau Sia.

Was all of that ching chong bullshit really necessary to further her point? If anything, it lost most if not all of her credibility.

she really should have chosen her words more wisely for a political science major.

"American manners"

I'm not sure I really prefer people to have American manners, especially if this video is the result of American manners.

I have trouble believing that she even knows what a library is. I imagine this video will haunt her for the rest of her career.

That's culturally relative though.

After graduating from college, my parents kind of expected me to live with them. As is normal for Korean kids to do until they get married. But, I pretty much refused on the basis that I'm an adult and knew that living with my folks would prevent me from doing things like being randomly drunk and brining women over.

However, some kids are more traditional.

I was forced to come back home, i hated the idea of coming back home. Then the recession hit and i was like thank goodness i am at home. Now i am unemployed and thankfull to be living at home, my mum however now wants me out of the house. Oh how the tables ahve turned.

<----- Nigerian.

I agree with the other posters here, having videos up like that will follow you for life. We're also living in an age of media and social technology so anything can catch up especially if involved in public service or positions of high power.
