No, but not all racist persons are stupid enough to put themselves up on youtube.

Yeah, I don't think the reason for this video blowing up is because of people suddenly realising there are people in this world who are discriminatory towards other races. It's mainly because thanks to the internet it's easy to make entertainment out of someone else's ignorance and lack of intelligence.

She will be fine, she will say she went through rehab or something. And she has the ultimate final card to play, crying white girl. It even beats Exodia.

Can someone explain to me why this particular retard has over 2 million views? It's not even a unique and interesting video either.

Crying white girl is a trap card right?

I think much less of people who are making death threats than the girl honestly. Yeah it was ignorant and kinda racist but I still don't get why this has gotten so much attention. You run into ignorance every day. Oh well.
It's not even like she's really a racist, just ignorant/insensitive. I guarantee that if she was commenting about some foreign white racial group that nobody would even think of giving a shit.

And I've gone on too long.
Great post. As a minority you really summed up how I feel about the entire situation. I find it hard to get "outraged" by this incident but if it does offend Asians I will respect their feelings. I guess hearing other races "speaking black" (whatever that means) in a mocking way for so long I don't even blink and eye at the "ching chong" ignorance which seems to be long the same lines to me.

Damn. I wonder if there will be a backlash to this backlash. I can see Rush Limbaugh rallying behind the "poor white girl that got ran out of school for making an innocent mistake" lol.

There are two reasons I think this video in particular blew up. One, she's attacking Asians right after the tsunami/earthquake and even rants about it in the video a little. Very bad mistake there. Two, she's hot.

And yes, I seriously think this video wouldn't have blew up as much as it did if she was ugly.

Yeah, that's called racism. Thanks for playing.

death threats? good job internet. as stupid naive white girl goes on a rant and the whole world goes down on her. well done.
I like to look at it as "stupid white girl decides to publicize her self-admitted politically incorrect and racist views across the Internet, expects no consequences for spreading hate speech, and is surprised at the results."

If she didn't foresee the consequences of putting her racist views across the Internet, then she is lacking common sense and is either extremely ignorant or out of touch with society. And subsequently she has faced societal backlash.

Sorry bitch, you don't get a free pass for pulling bullshit of this magnitude. Whether or not it's okay to post personal information on the Internet, she was asking for these repercussions, and she got them. No sympathy.

It sure isn't.

Stupidity and stereotyping do not racism make. Believing certain people to be inferior is, however. There is a solid distinction.

Tbh, racism is often bred directly from ignorance. And as they say, ignorance is no excuse.

To be fair, it really isn't much different than the idiotic shit people like to spew out in Gaf race threads. Some stereotyping and blaming based on "Personal" observations being turned into fact.

Now, if you make a Youtube video about it. Calling out a race at your own school. No shit it's gonna blow up. And regardless, when has calling out a race individually ever been used in good argument over Youtube?

so you'd like to see the death threats come into fruition?
stay classy gaf.

Where did he exactly say that? Pretty sure he just meant the repercussions that have happened thus far, not actually those that would or could lead to her death/murder.

I do agree, death threats are too much, but unfortunately, they usually go hand in hand with the internet. Luckily no one ever really follows through with them, she just needs to rise above, publicly apologise, do relevant community race related work and build up her image again.

My girlfriend told me about this a few days ago, I just discovered the thread at GAF. She said a lot of her Asians friends were pretty mad about it. I'm sure she's getting hell for it and that she nor I need to contribute to it or give it anymore of our time. I don't necessarily believe she's racist, just incredibly stupid. How could she not know how this could seriously backfire on her is what was going on in my mind. Oh well, she's paying the price for it and hopefully she learns something from all of this.

one of the repercussions were death threats. im asking him if fruition of those death threats were ok to him.

I'm not sure why you would wonder about this, I'm pretty sure nobody here wants her to be murdered.

You're just trolling.

pretty sure you dont know the intent of every single one of those parties involved in serving her those death threats. but let's act like death threats should be taken lightly.

Let me put it like this, if you want to say that all ethnic stereotyping should be under the banner of racism then that's fine. But then you probably have to forgive most "racist" beliefs that people have in order to just function in society. Racism/stereotyping is not an absolute diagnosis, there's a spectrum to that behavior.

In the case of this video, I think it falls into the generally harmless side of the spectrum. I don't think any normal asian person really felt offended by those comments. She certainly doesn't come off as thinking that all asians are inferior or anything but I can see why people in general would laugh at her stupidity/insensitivity.

Yeah initially it was fun with mocking videos and autotune remixes but when it went as far as harassment and threats making her drop out of the university then that's obviously too far. It's a real world lesson in internet bullshittery.

<Tries to get fantasy of paying $44.95 PPV fee to see racist YouTube girl getting crap kicked out of her by crowds of angry Asian women in octagon like setting, watching it in glorious HD while I dine on Yakitori and Asahi beer>.

Who's with me? Come on UFC, do it, do it - then donate the proceeds to Japan disaster relief efforts.

Stereotyping doesn't automatically make it racism. It is a philosophical concept in the discussion of race. You can stereotype many things, including "the poor" or "the rich."

Stereotypes are not racist by themselves. It is WHEN YOU USE those stereotypes to affirm your belief of racial superiority that using stereotypes becomes racism.

Yes, it is a hard concept to understand, but I had to spend 3 and a half months in an upper division course in college for the philosophy of that stuff, so its not like it isn't something people have already defined.

She'll be perfectly fine. She'll easily be able to surround herself with like-minded individuals and this could actually help her in the long run. The only lesson she's learned is to keep her thoughts to herself.

I think any "normal" asian person would dislike the idea that they aren't american because of their race.

Define normal asian person.

The problem is these hordes of Asian people that UCLA accepts into our school every single year, which is fine. But if you're going to come to UCLA then use American manners.
So it used to really bug me but it doesn't bother me anymore the fact that all the Asian people that live in all the apartments around me -- their moms and their brothers and their sisters and their grandmas and their grandpas and their cousins and everybody that they know that they've brought along from Asia with them
So being the polite, nice American girl that my momma raised me to be

Ah, normal Asian person, eh? I guess my Asian friends who were offended by this aren't normal. What is a normal Asian person, then?

I don't think her rant has anything to do with asian-american citizens so much as recent immigrants. Whenever she says "american" it seems like she's thinking "white" but doesn't want to say that since it might imply that black people or whatever don't have manners.

... lost my train of thought.

Seriously though, I think it's clear that she was referring to fobs. Unfortunately, it's also clear that she's unable or unwilling to differentiate between Asian-Americans and immigrants due to an apparent lack of socialization with Asian people her entire life. That's her prerogative; why would I allow a narrow-minded individual ruin even a second of my day? Like it or not, loads of people aren't fond of us for whatever reason. We'll manage.

She's probably just stressed out with work and taking it out the wrong way. I'm sure she genuinely sees sense if she's at UCLA.

Its a stupid video, but is it really that different than the common reference to black women talking loudly in the movie theater?

Is that a common reference? I've heard the whole "black people are loud" thing, but not specifically black women in movie theaters.

Uhhhhh, wow. You might want to sit down and reform your thoughts about this incident.

Well, a lot of people (non-asians, strange asians, normal asians, Asian-Americans, foreign asians, semi-asians) were and are offended, so you're wrong about that.

Knowing that this girl was accepted to UCLA makes me feel bad that I wasn't.

Oh well, at least I got a college education. I hope she has fun in cosmetology school and ends up working for a bunch of Vietnamese women.

You know...she would be the perfect USC Song Girl.
