Who are some 2000's pop stars no one talks about anymore?

Does Jordin Sparks count? The last I saw of her was in..... I think Shampoo commercials? Or was it skin care commercials?

Actually, nearly most American Idol winners/runner ups. Some are either successful on Youtube (Andrew Garcia and Tori Kelly to name a couple) or moved on to other things, right? Kelly Bootyson is still popular.

Adam Lambert's albums have been successful/popular and he also does a collaboration with Queen.

James Blunt

I think he just chills and tweets jokes now

Holy shit, haha. That's actually pretty awesome he has a sense of humour about it. Honestly, I respect when people find success but are perfectly fine with settling down and having a nice, humble life. Sounds like he's enjoying himself.

Shop Boyz
MIMS
Lil Scrappy
Chingy
Daddy Yankee
T-Pain
The Vines
Petey Pablo
David Banner
3LW
The Bravery
Fabulous
and of course, Soulja Boy

Chances are, most are still doing music.

Young Dro had a big song "We In Da City" two years ago that you can't avoid to this day in Atlanta. It's the unofficial theme song of the Atlanta Falcons.

Juicy J of Three Six Mafia is everywhere.

Didn't know about Dro having a newish song.

And yeah I know Juicy J is still huge, but 3-6-M as a whole isn't really relevant these days.

Soulja Boy drops shit in between beefs. Fabulous dropped a mixtape or two last year. T-Pain seemed like he was gearing up for a comeback like last year but idk what happened to that.

T-Pain had too many hits.

I was gonna say Nelly. But hot damn if I didn't completely forget Sean Paul. And now I'm thinking about Paul wall.

Damn mims. Why I'm hot remix was soooooooo good.

Carrie Underwood seems to be doing pretty well.

You and your love for JoJo (I think it's always been you). When is she going to collab with Kanye?

Anyone remember M2M? 98 Degrees? 2gether????

I discovered 2gether in college looking up calculus tutorials on YouTube lol

Sad what happend to the kid with cancer

Carrie Underwood seems to be doing pretty well.

I'm not surprised. I'm in a state where Country is probably the top genre - Minnesota. Almost everything concert-wise features Carrie and other highly famous Country stars.

Holy shit. What did happen to M2M after their hit Pokemon songs?

Paul Wall had one big chance to come back and he was in the remix with Jody Highroller's How To Be The Man. Also 2 years ago.

Is Riff Raff really big enough to restart Paul Wall's career? I mean yeah, he's somewhat popular, but I think he'd give Paul a marginal boost at best...

I would say Smashmouth, though he still performs. He was at the most recent South by Southwest festival in Austin and played to a large crowd.

He? Smash Mouth is a band. Besides, they're more of a 90s thing anyway.

Michelle Branch.
Just had a new solo album come out, her first since 2003 but yeah she kinda fell off the radar after married after her third album and starting a family at pretty much at the peak of her popularity.
Michelle branch, the shitty version of Vanessa Carlton.
Worst post in this topic and I'm not shitting on Carlton who I also like either.
Natalie Imbruglia, I had a crush on her back in the day.
Same but that was 1997/1998 at least in the U.S. She was largely forgotten about by the time White Lillies Island released here in early 2002.
Her first four albums are good, especially the third. Then she came out with some cover album a few years back which sounds horrible.

I've only listened to the covers album a couple times (even though I own it) but I agree on her first four as frustrating as some creative/production decisions that were made have been over the years, she has a lot a B-sides that are better than songs that made it on her albums and I'm still a bit salty over never getting the original version of Scars.

For that year (2015), yeah Riff Raff was big lol. Nearly everybody I knew was blasting Riff Raff. I believe it was the followup. Paul Wall just never followed it up with anything that year. You can't just be on one of 2015's hottest Rapper's remix and not follow it up with more remixes or some singles.

I think they reunited and then broke up again...

Speaking of girl groups,

Danity Kane?

I heard there were rumblings of a reunion but I don't think anything came from it...

How about those High School Musical kids? Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens?

Aly And Aj (I know Aly is on iZombie and the other one is on Goldberg's, I guess they gave up on music?)

Remember when Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan attempted to be popstars?

I heard Fat Joe was performing at a strip club like last year and was blown away, I literally thought he had died.

Maybe you are thinking of Big Pun? He's dead.

Not understanding these Sean Paul mentions. He had like 6 big hits last year. It seemed like that guy was in everything I heard on the radio... him and Dua Lipa.

Yeah. She sold out to do booty shakin' "club hitz"; her third album was a MASSIVE departure from her first and second albums.

I could just see that record exec putting the pressure on her:

"Nelly, all these club bangers are selling like hot cakes. You can't keep to this folky pop ballad stuff when the booty shaking is what's selling. So, Nelly, how about we shake that booty and make some real money, huh?"

Edit: Even the Wikipedia article on the album "Loose" (lol) helps to illustrate all of this.

'I'm like a bird' is such a good song. I was 15 when it came out and I was just getting into alt/indie rock and it was not done to talk about mainstream pop with my friends/classmates back then. But it was a guilty pleasure and I listened to it at home :p She looked stunning in the video too.

I was reminded of her when Sadie of Speedy Ortiz tweeted she liked the new album

Love that in all of these topics, they're always stan who can't accept the truth.
" But they released an album last year!!!"
Yeah, and no one cares.

Good shout.

Jessica Simpson comes to mind but I'm so out the loop.

I was wondering what happened to Justin Timberlake and Timbaland. You couldn't move for Timbaland, I swear he was singing in my fridge once.
I mean, 20/20 experience came out in the last 5 years, JT had the biggest somg of last year, and Timbaland and JT are working on another album

Gareth Gates.
Craig David.

Those are the two that immediately came to mind.

He's actually made many wise investments and is now richer than ever. Go watch Todd in the Shadows' episode about him.
Craig David, that's a good one. I loved some of his songs, especially 7 Days, so sexy

Pink had a hit song on the Alice soundtrack last year that is played on the radio at least 10 times a day still.

Huh? Her last album (in 2012) opened at #1 in the US and went double platinum (and had several hit singles). She's done some other singles since thing (you have to have heard Just Like Fire, it plays everywhere) have done fine as well. Definitely not a case of being lost in 2001 for that one. Just hasn't released another album since.

Plus Ellen's intro song is by Pink.

Interesting. I feel I've seen countless 500 million viewed pop videos and the same bunch of collabs. Never heard or seen JT.

Surely something from Bruno Mars was bigger?

Well to be fair, his 2013 hit Mirrors only had 432 million views, so maybe that is why you never heard of it.

But seriously, there is quite a gap between: 2000's stars nobody talks about anymore and stars that have 500+ million views.

I think I remember when the last MBV album came out they were nominated to the same award and /mu/ had a good laugh about it. I think I roughly remember a snapshot of Bill's sister(or some fan using his last name in her nick?) saying she had a proof of "4chan hacking the voting" or something like that with a screenshot of a command line with something along the lines of "C:hack MTV awards" (with a "command not found" error even).

That was the last time I heard of them.
