Who are your favorite developers?

I was just reading the thread on Bungie and how they are donating money to help in Haiti, and it got me wondering about my favorite developers and how they compare to others on GAF...

Anyways, my favorite developers are-
-Valve
-Bungie
-Nintendo (all of it :D )

I enjoy how all these developers are very open with their customers and provide things like full fledged online stat tracking at Bungie.com, free updates and DLC from Valve, and I also enjoy Nintendo's Club Nintendo service (DSi items please!).

So who are GAF's favorite developers?

Nintendo, because they still make games better than anyone when they make a big game.

Capcom, because they have been amazing this generation, and I have almost 200 hours in Street Fighter IV.

Valve, EAD Tokyo, Irrational Games, Platinum Games (Clover), Naughty Dog, Team ICO, Jordan Mechner inc, Michael Ancel ltd, Telltale Games, Double Fine

any of these guys release a game, I'm so there

I've sort of missed out on the Blizzard-boat. I recently played and loved Starcraft, but putting them on that list based off of that one game and reputation alone seems a bit disingenuous.

Valve, Relic and Bioware. My current PC Gaming Gods have bestowed upon me great titles these past few years.

Tripwire man. Fuckin' underdogs 'n' shit. Good with the community (which is admitedly limited). Games are amazing.

They make great MP games for the PC. I respect that.

Remedy is another favorite. Disappointed by the Alan Wake 360 situation, but the game will be awesome regardless of my owning a 360 or not.

Valve is just okay. I honestly enjoy Steam a lot more than any of their games, but that's fine, right? The half-life games are just okay. Solid gameplay. Steam is on another level. PC gaming is better for its existence, and to no small degree. I respect that.

@Mars:
I don't give a fuck about Nintendo or Capcom, and have barely played any of their games in the last few years. Take offense.

All of Nintendo, easily. Ico Team will skyrocket their way up my list if they can provide a few more experiences like their first two games. So is Platinum.

And I think that's it. All other development houses are usually overshadowed by the publisher or director's name, so they either remain unknown to me or remain uncredited for their work. Apart from EAD Tokyo, but the amount of games I've enjoyed from them is so minimal it's kind of hard for me to call them a favourite.

All the Nintendo EADS, Square Enix team 1, Level 5, Atlus, Platinum, Grasshopper, Game Arts (where the fuck is Grandia 4?), Kojipro, Monolithsoft (at least I would if Nintendo didn't keep them on such a short leash).

chris park right now

oh and vic davis hehe

I'll add a list also
katauri, 1c softlab nsk, 1c ino-co, 1c maddox, best way / digitalmindsoft, haggard, farm51, actionforms, bohemia, paradox, ageod, taleworlds, frictional, gaspowered, kerberos, isi, gsc, nadeo, llamasoft, spiderweb, stardock, eagledynamics, deepshadows, aventurine, larian, battlefront.com, piranhabytes, scs, vstep, related, starwraith3d, egosoft, dejobaan, elemental, wolfire

Grasshopper is definitely my number one right now. I've been a longtime fan of Treasure games too. Those are two companies where I'd probably pick up almost anything if it has their name on it. I also really liked what Clover put out and what Platinum Games is doing now.

Nintendo, Konami and Capcom are old standbys with a long history of quality games. While I feel they're sadly a shadow of their former self nowadays, I'll also have to say SNK is high on my list for what they used to be and their catalog of amazing games.

Edit: Since I'm naming every developer ever, I'll throw in Bioware and Blizzard too since I've been a big fan of almost all their games on the PC.

It's my 3 favorite devs. All of them are part of Nintendo, and all of them have made the best games ever IMO. :D

Bungie
Capcom
Nintendo
BioWare

All of these companies have put out game after game that I just fall in love with. Nintendo and Capcom are bigger companies that put a wide variety of titles, but still make some great games. BioWare and Bungie however, if a game is coming out with their name on it, I will buy it. End of story. There aren't any other game developers I can say that for.

Though Nintendo's full of amazing talent beyond the traditionally mentioned people.

I'd also say Capcom even if I don't feel their Wii/DS output was to my preferences. I will buy TvC though. :)

Blizzard and Valve for having released nothing but awesome. I would buy any new games by them on blind faith.

Holy shit, that gif is awesome.

For me: Nintendo, Blizzard, Inis and Capcom. Square were good, but after trying some of their post-merger efforts, I'm not as impressed as I used to be.

Naughty Dog (starting this Gen)
Blizzard
Polyphony D
Bizarre Creations USE to be
Team ICO
KojiPro

I like a ton more but those are the only ones I love.

Lots of love for their overall catalogs:
  • Black Isle Studios (R.I.P.)
  • Blizzard Entertainment
  • Falcom
  • Game Arts
  • Kojima Productions
  • Konami (Castlevania & Suikoden teams, mainly)
  • Level 5
  • Origin Systems (R.I.P.)
  • Polyphony Digital
  • Snowblind Studios (Waiting for their return to dungeon hacks...)
  • Sonic Team
  • Square (Various teams over the years)
  • tri-Ace
Studios that are currently injecting fun into my hobby:
  • Alpha Dream
  • Bethesda Softworks
  • BioWare
  • Harmonix
  • Infinite Interactive
  • Lionhead Studios

  • Guerilla Games - Probably the best FPS this generation (so far)
  • Team ICO (Their history is just incredible)
  • Naughty Dog
  • That Game Company
  • Starbreeze
  • Rock* North
  • VALVE
  • Kojima Productions

These studios are my favs:

Sega Wow - Used to be called Overworks, and before that were AM7.
Treasure
Blizzard
Team Ico
Retro Studios
Starbreeze
Game Arts

Free Radical - Even though they aren't really alive anymore

Also when Jordan Mechnar or Michel Ancel make anything I tend to take notice.
