I'm PC+Vive, PS4 and 3DS. Depending on how well Ninty play their cards I could be switching out the 3DS with a NX (Zelda BoTW looks incredible and has me excited for the new system).I've always been console + PC since I can remember (NES + PC was the start). This time around, I'm PC, PS4 and WIiU (yeah..).
I cant really see why incremental consoles would have much effect on this because if someone care about upgrading the hardware to get better graphics, its something that will apply to both consoles and PC, and the money you're spending is probably not going to be a lot cheaper on one system. Otherwise you can just stay with the previous console model or using a PC with older hardware for a while longer.
If i would go back to PC-gaming again, it would be because i want to play certain games and getting better graphics. I was an active PC gamer from 1994 to 2009/2010, but i havnt bothered buying a new PC since 2005/2006. I've been thinking about it though.
You only need to upgrade your PC every 10 years.
LOL, try every 4 years for entire PC. Every 2 years for GPU. That is to constantly run Ultra 1080p/60 (soon to be 4k/60)

Exactly, I don't understand the mindset of the console makers going for 4K when some teams are struggling to get decent frame rates at 900/1080. I understand this is kind of paving the way for VR but it would make more sense to me to release an incremental console upgrade in order for developers to get the best possible performance rather than better resolution unless I'm misunderstanding what these consoles will allow developers to do as it seems 4K is the goal from what I've seen

I'm not sure if console users upgrade their TV more often than PC users update their monitors but that is also a huge expense for both parties.
There's no confirmation obviously but there are reasons to believe that those may be ported to PC in the future. Taro said in an inteview a while back that exclusivity wasn't decided, and..Well actually with Star Ocean, in an interview they had it sounded less like a possibility and more like something that's going to happen eventually. At this point, the main reason i keep my PS4 is Nier Automata and Star Ocean.
It always depends on which system you use most. I only use my consoles for the occasional exclusive so everytime I turn them on I have to wait for a bunch of firmware and game patches to install.
I guess if you're the same on PC it could feel like you need to update fucking everything before being able to play.
But yeah "time to start screen" is considerably better on PC for me too.
i can't imagine why anyone one choose x.5 consoles over PC unless you just really like sony/MS games or you only play a handful of games a year
i think the new console market is geared towards people who never consider PC as an option in the first place (i.e. practically nobody on neogaf)

I would expect most Square Enix games to wind up on PC at some point tbh.
Why would you buy an expensive XB1 instead of a cheap Steam Link for this particular purpose? If Microsoft ever gets its act together and allows true PC->XBO game streaming, It'd be an insta-buy for a lot of PC gamers, especially less entrenched or newer PC gamers.
Mad that console is coming out with an upgrade after 3 years, switches to platform where upgrades come out almost every six months. Makes sense.

The lounge room vs computer room struggle is the major hurdle I am looking to overcome.

It's great that more people are playing on PC but I don't really understand how incremental console releases affect that decision. What is it about Scorpio ans Neo that makes people want to give up on consoles?
