Who else is plagued by an absolutely ridiculous name on PSN?

I'm Fallen_Dawn. It was meant to be ironically try-hard, but I kinda grew attached to it. Would be alright if most of the people I met didn't call me Fallen_Down on PSN for some reason :(
 
heh never thought about this. I guess I'm happy now that the extent of online communities when I was a teenager was mIRC. By the time you had to subscribe to stuff, using numbers and capitals was already not-1337.

When I got a PS3, my brother and I were so eager to set up that profile and check it out. We took the first two letters of my name, the first two letters of his name, and added the number 2.

So I'm "arha2." And it stuck, and most are just bewildered by it, but it certainly makes adding people on PSN much easier. I've made many alt accounts for different regions, and they usually end up with some slight modification of the first. Tagging it up with a handle that makes no sense!
 
I'm glad I was able to pick my name as an adult, otherwise I probably would have come up with some weird dick related name. My psn is PUMPurBRAKES I got it from a scene in Tropic Thunder. Robert Downey gets in an argument with Brandon t. Jackson and says "Pump your brakes kid, that man's a national treasure" (Crocodile Dundee). People usually call me pump for short.
 
I was always lucky. My usual nickname was always free when creating the account. Everywhere I logged on so far TheExorzist was free.

Sucks bad though that you can't rename. A few of my PSN buddies are desperately waiting for the option to rename their account.

Well I used to use Genome but when I got an Xbox 360 years ago it had started to always be taken. So after 30 mins of trying various versions of it I gave up and just thought of something silly and hopefully unique. So I came up with omegatreefish.

Would rather have genome but at least this is never taken I guess. Because of that I used it on GAF and psn to keep it all the same.

Shame it can't work like steam and just let you change your avatar name when ever you want (its separate to your account name).

MIne is xKADINx and I never really knew how obnoxious it looked until way too late. I actually had someone from Destiny send me a PM asking if that's really my name. I laughed a little...
 
My PSN name has 420 at the end. I remember calling customer service and being so embarrassed to tell the woman on the phone the name. She assured me it wasn't nearly as bad as most people so that was nice.

My 360 has been collecting dust for at least 3 years, but if I remember right my gamertag was bbbcccqrxqqq. I used to have it memorized but I'm sure that is off by a couple letters. It was the worst trying to tell high school friends my gamertag, especially because it took me quite a while to memorize it

Mine is the same as my GAF user name - PrintedCrayon. Use it for pretty much everything. It doesn't mean anything, I have grown to like it though :)

Pretty sure it was generated by the Xbox Gamertag generator, so thanks Microsoft I guess?

It was either that or AmorousBiscuit (but I don't think cookies ever have lustful feelings)

The finest tag on Xbox I ever had was Gay Icon. I'm not gay myself but I am for equality, the amount of nasty people on xbox really do come out the wood work when using a tag like that.

Back in my Uncharted 2 version 1.04 MP days, I used to voice chat with randoms all the time. They would pronounce my name as robo-trock instead of robot-rock, and then eventually the robo-trock became robot-truck, and then it soon became Optimus Prime.

Put my old street name Quarry at ps3s launch. People always read it wrong. Some one was like q... qua.. qu... quiery. Got that alot until mw2 came out and people thought I named myself after that quarry map. I honestly dont know which was worse.
 
I added Solid to the start of my name because I'm a big MGS fan, but damn... Really wish I'd known it was going to be permanent. I would have chosen something different.

They most certainly did, which is totally moronic.

My problem with all my nick names is that they are inconsistent. I have different nicks on PSN, XBL, NNID, GAF, Steam, etc. which, while being my own fault, sucks. :-/
 
I was about 10 or 11 when i made my PS3 account, and my brother made and named the account for me.



The account name lubuthedark will haunt me forever. Cringe


thankfully i sold my PS3 and 360 to get a PC so i no longer have to play with that absurd name anymore

Yep, Still a sub account to my brothers account 8 years later.
 
My main PSN account's name is just No-Na-Me. I couldn't really think of anything original, really liked watching flashes on Newgrounds back then and Super Awesome Dynamite Platinum Bros. was too long.

Having grown out of that I still don't think that name is bad at all given that most people will probably not understand the reference to begin with and just read it as No Name.

My Japanese PSN is Brorax though, and I am still embarrassed every time I am reminded again that I made the decision at some point to go with that username.
 
When i first made a PSN account, I tried an old handle I used in chat rooms and shit way way back in the day, it was taken, no big deal. I tried various combinations, but no matter what I did PSN told me it was taken. What I didn't realize was that PSN didn't allow spaces in names (not sure if that's changed), and instead of telling you "you cant use a space", it told you the name was already taken. So in the end I wound up with the fucking ridiculous De4dw1ng1979 handle. Thanks sony.
I use the more user friendly Small_Crimes sub account for the PS4 tho.
 
I am zippedpinhead, everywhere as far as I know except for 1 place.

Stupid Apple iOS gamecenter crashed the first day while I was creating my account, so the account is set up. It just doesn't have a password or email address associated so you can't login. It is only there that I have a terrible number name.

I have used that number name for alt regions, BUT the master account is Zippedpinhead.
 
Does Sony delete inactive accounts like MS did eventually from the OG Xboxes? Would be nice, at least to clear more name availability.
 
My PSN tag is the rather boring 'my-name-is-marks'

I used to have an appalling Live gamertag, courtesy of the random name generator, Dr Scuffy. It has since been changed.

A friend of mine also used the random name generator, and now has the quite fabulous WordedCone72 as his gamertag.
 
I am. Wanted to change mine's years ago so all my usernames that I have would be the same. PSN is the only one that is different. I don't think we're ever going to be able to change it later down the future. Which sucks = (
 
I used to secretly hope everyone with XX's in their username was just straight edge.

I've had Biocat since the Working Designs Message Board and never regretted it once.
 
OP made me feel old as hell. I was 21 when PS3 released and picked a PSN that I'm pretty happy with. Didn't realize people couldn't change them if they so desired lol.

Yup. I have wanted to change my PSN name for a while now. It's absolutely ridiculous that Sony has never given us the option. I paid money to change my Xbox Live gamertag and I would gladly do it again on PSN.
 
mine is my username as well but I find it funny that nearly everyone that I meet on there doesnt know what R and R means.
