Who else played Adventure Quest?

This was a pretty popular browser MMO when I was growing up. I really liked it when I was 11 / 12, and I think I even subscribed for a couple of months(oh god why). It looks terrible now but I randomly thought about it along with Dragon Fable and Mech Quest by the same team.

To be honest I don't really remember what I did outside of fight poorly drawn flash monsters. Apparently that was enough to hook me in between Runescape and Neopets. Would anyone else care to dig up repressed memories and talk about it?

Haha. Damn. Takes me back to middle school.

I remember the Ice Blade that froze anything in its path.

That thing was amazingly Broken.

My main account eventually got deactivated due to not logging in for a year after I let it die.
I tried Dragon Fable for a while (a.k.a. Adventure Quest with better visuals), but it wasn't the same. I simply didn't care for it anymore.

I'll probably not forget, BattleOn/AQ, though. I wasted plenty of library hours on that game.

I never really got into Mech Quest or DF either. I too wasted many an hour in the library on lunch break playing this.

Oh god what is this Newgrounds mess

Oh god what is this Newgrounds mess

A free turn-based RPG game from a while back (probably newer than I feel it is). The visuals and "animations", if you can call them that, have always been unsightly. Nonetheless, it was an easy time waster for me at the time.

Aww man This! and runescape... man my addiction was terrible I remember leveling up my guy so he can look super cool to show of to my friends and the countless time I got annoyed at that member organization interfering with my battles

Adventure Quest was that game we played because Runescape's port was blocked.

I remember playing before most of its features were fleshed out and you simply clicked on places and fought battles. At the time the karate armor was pretty good for double attacking.

Hah I remember gettin my mom to pay the 15$ to upgrade to guardian or whatever waaay back in elementary school... Damn.

When people say things like this it makes me feel old... Really old.

Never even heard of this game before, but checking the release date... yeah damn I feel old if people are seriously reminiscing about it.

I know I did before going to play Maple Story. Dark times..

Also, I remember getting a hack to get free things that were behind a paywall.

Aye, it was definitely easy to pick up and fight a round or two before doing something else. Heck, even most of the dungeons were brief.

Leveling for "super duper cool" armor and saving gold for attack pets was really somethin' else.

I went for the upgrade too just before I left. I remember thinking "Aww yeah!" and shortly afterwards, "Man, this ain't even all that!" The unique pets weren't even great, and it was easy to get an already crazy useful one available to all.

I remember the member-only sword that would attack with a random element but had a chance to summon a dragon that annihilated pretty much everything. My friends and I would take turns and watch each other play for long spans of time.

Battleon and Maple Story? Dark times indeed.

Oh yeaaah.

That was one of the better perks.

God yes! A certain period every single boy on my school played it. I remember the Lucky Sword which was mostly shit, until it unleashed its special effect.

Behold the power that is Adventure Quest!

In all seriousness, a friend of mine randomly brought up the game the other day, saying he played a little bit of it recently for laughs. I was honestly surprised that the damn thing was still around.

My best friend's brother was a Guardian or whatever. He got his dad to drop so much money on this game.

My crappy dial-up just could not handle this, lol

Me too, wonder how many people play these days.

What a shit game that, like Maple Story, I devoted way too much time and effort to. Started playing when it first launched and there were server queues you had to figuratively stand in line for to play this game that didn't even have any multiplayer component at the time.

Eventually paid the $20 for Guardian status to bypass those lines and get other useless perks... Then I went on to pay an extra $5 to become an "X-Guardian."

Only "good" memory I really have of that game was a friend who couldn't figure out how to gather the pieces of the Guardian Blade or whatever it was called so he asked me to log into his account to do it for him and in exchange he would give me his PSP, which I did.

I played this when I was younger, I was a Guardian. It was fun until you realized even though it had a ton of content it was a very shallow experience.

YES ADVENTURE QUEST! Played that mess so much and almost got Guardian. Almost.
Also obsessed over MechQuest, and got my friends to play it as well. Good times. What the heck is Artix up to now anyways?

Oh god, back in 5th grade/middle school, this took up all my time right next to Runescape. I was never a Guardian but I do remember begging mom to pay for the Runescape premium. We would buy teachers for hours for computer time to play. Good times!

My brother used to play that all the time. Usually because he was bored for whatever. Reason. Me however I never bothered with any MMO browser games. Even as a kid I didn't see the point when I had consoles and portables around.

Yeah we used to play this because it wasn't blocked on the school computers lol
I like to think I knew it was crap, but I can't remember

Holy shit, this takes me back. I played this and Dragon Fable like 8 years ago. It was surprisingly one of my first experiences with RPGs. Looking back, it seems crappy, but goodness, I remember it as one of my go-to games.

Also, bought a dragon amulet and Guardianship back in the day. Don't regret it for a second :P
