Who's going to TGS?

I just got this late minute idea that maybe I should go.
Im studying Games Graphics Design at RMIT university(Melbourne, Australia).
The first day of TGS(friday 22nd september) is only open for 'those engaging in the game industry'. If I got a badge from my university that I was sent out on their behalf, do you think that would be applicable for that first day?

Also, how is the hotel situation right now? Is it tight/taken all over?

In any case, all the decicions and potential booking..etc will for me happen within two weeks.

With that said, how many of you are going? GAF meetup?

I'm going.

Generally, the hotel situation for TGS is never tight because you can basically stay anywhere in Tokyo you want and take the train to Makuhari. So don't worry too much about that.

So, speaking absolutely no japanese, how hard will it be for me to move around?

It will be hard to move around because it will be 80 degrees and 99% humidity. You'll be sweating like a rapist. Sporsk and Sho Nuff will drive you around Tokyo's river and canal system on their Waverunners.

I'll be there. As long as my bank accepts the hefty credit card payment for the flights that is.
Like the others said, hotels are not a problem. This is not E3 or even worse Leipzig where all hotels are booked months before the show.

I'm going too.

BTW, I'll be in Tokyo in a couple of weeks. How's the weather now? Is it really hell of earth as they say? I've never been there in august... is it much worse than the end of september?

I'll be there. If anyone wants to coordinate something with me, go ahead and add me on AIM: trin746.

I live in kansai, so I have to take the shinkansen into the Kanto area, and bunk up somewhere. I MAY be able to stay with DDK, but that's still up in the air.

August is the worst ****ing time of the year. It's like living in a ****ing sauna, except you're fully clothed, and walking around. Holy **** I hate japanese summer.

It's pretty bad.

Personally, I don't think it is much worse than weather here in Cincinnati, OH. The climate is EXTREMELY similar. The main difference is, of course, you must walk everywhere in Japan and spend much more time getting around outside. Around here, the most I have to suffer is in the walk from whatever building I'm in to my car. During the Japanese summer, though, you'll feel nasty all the time.

The only good thing is the fact that the sun sets earlier. I f*cking hate daylight savings time with a passion. I don't want the f*cking sun up until 10:00 at night. IIRC, the sun seemed to go down around 7:00 in Japan (during the summer) and closer to 4:00 during the winter (which rocked). Night >>>> Day

I'm going. My gf is flying too, bonus miles ftw. I'll go again to that porn shop to grab Famitsu early like last year with MGS4.

Must remember not to go to GasPanic night before TGS. Hot weather + over crowded train + super hangover = doom.

Just got the confirmation for my flights. I'll be there for sure now (or I've lost a lot of money...)
