Who's the better Spidey Villian: Venom or Green Goblin?

Green Goblin would work.

But the sheer volume of Venom love in here is throwing me for a loop. He is a great villain, but to put him above Green Goblin just baffles me. Goblin has accomplished so much more to ruin Spidey not just physically but also psychologically that Venom cannot compete at all. Shit, Goblin even continued to fuck with Spidey after Norman "died" because Harry was all kinds of fucked up because of his father.

Venom was cool when I was a kid. But now that I've gotten older, he does absolutely nothing for me. Norman Osborn though? One of the best villains in all of comics. He's so unabashedly evil.

GG (Harry) Plays better Mind Games with Peter. Venom is cool and all, just the I can do anything better than you shtick gets tired with him.
 
I always found it unusual that GG is seen as Spidey's archenemy.'I'd put Kingpin, Doc Oc, the Jackal and Venom as Spider-man's arch enemy before the Green Goblin.
 
Green Goblin and it's not even a contest, even if he's been at his best after his revival. Norman Osborn is great.

Venom is the coolest if you only know the animated series. He was cool at first but then they didn't know if they wanted to make him edgier or an anti-hero. And he was at his best as an anti-hero. Eddie Brock isn't even the best Venom, although he's the best looking one.

I assume everyone saying Carnage has only watched the series and then read Maximum Carnage. What a piece of overrated shit.

yep. if for no other reason than iceman could stop him with a thought, without worrying about killing him. just boom and he's stuck in a ton of ice.

what would wolverine do to him anyway? stab him in ice form? that will work wonders I'm sure

edit: is that polaris on the ground? this has gone past just bad writing and into shitty fan fiction territory.

Bobby has omega potential, but he doesn't use them to his fullest. Also having his friends around gettting slaughtered won't help that either.

I don't see how polaris getting killed is fan fiction territory

I really miss Tangled web of Spider-man. Such an awesome concept for a series. Some really fucked up stories during its run too.

Hell just get Nightcrawler to dump him in the Arctic while they figure out how to cool him down

It's not like he hasn't rampaged through the X Men mansion before

Goblin, not close. Venom had his moments but he doesn't compare to Norman's straight up evil. Great mirror of great power, and the anti uncle Ben.

Norman's pretty much 3rd after Doom and Magneto now, no? Not counting Galactus or Thanos.

That said, Spectacular did a fantastic job with the symbiote. Better than goblin there (just barely because it didn't finish :( ). amazing damn show.
 
All you guys who like Electro and Rhino should be excited because those are the two villians in the next Spider-Man movie.

Edit: Goblin is the best.

Kurt can't even come close to bamfing that far. And using Kurt to try to grab him would only end with a dead kurt

And short of jean, no there isn't. In non rage mode he's taken hits from just about all of them and has gotten back up. He's been punched across counties by the hulk. Thrown out of various buildings(including avengers tower) and has just shrugged it off. If he's blindly animalistic, your best bet is to just run rather than fight. Especially if you have a human constitution.

Spectacular Venom is my favorite version rendition of the character. Good buildup and motivation, and ultimately comes across very threatening.

I hope there are others under 40 who loathe Venom as much as I do. I'm 33. Venom is a shit stain that spread until it consumed everything that was good about Spider-Man comics.
 
Okay I know I'm a bit late on this but Green Goblin all the way. Venom's best trait is his design. I don't even know how it's possible to claim that anyone other than GG is Spidey's arch-nemesis.

Oh and Carnage sucks, and everybody who read Maximum Carnage and liked it sucks to. That story was worse than Sins Past, One More Day and A Moment In Time. Worst thing I've ever read.

I've always liked Venom's earlier sleeker design more. The whole meter long tongue and green slime oozing from his mouth on every page look is kinda dumb.

Yeah it looked ridiculous by the end. By the time Gargan became Venom the design was totally ruined.
 
I would say early Venom, since I'm out of the loop with the characters beyond about 1992 or so.

But I'd go with the others who said Kraven, I'd love to see Kraven's Last Hunt adapted into a movie, live or animated.
