Men carrying messenger bags is perfectly fine. They can carry whatever type of bag they want. But messenger bags look good and can hold everything you need for the day without society bitching about you "carrying a purse"

If only more men were brave enough, like the OP and the PC Brigade in here, to carry purses around, then there wouldn't be the stigma against men having them. If only more people had the courage the PC Brigade does to not care what others thought of their fashion choices.

Personally, I love only carrying around my car key, small card holder/money clip, and iPhone. It's one of the great things about being a guy. I still don't know why my wife feels like she HAS to carry around a purse, even her smallest one, at all times. :lol

You can write with an iPad which is why I do not see why you need two sources of ways to write.
Because I don't want to have to pull out my iPad to job down a quick list of items I have to run and grab from our food vendor several blocks away, just for example. Or when I'm restocking inventory and need to make a quick run to the basement 6 floors down?
An iPad does not trump the convenience of a pen and small notebook when it comes to jotting down quick bits of important info.
