Super budget (<$300) builds are a bit frowned upon as you tend to get a poor price/performance, but I never see people make fun of people just because they don't want to drop >$900 on a very high spec PC.
.Uuuuh, did you post this on the wrong forum? GAF is all about getting people the best PC for their budget, be it small or large.
Not sure what elitism you're talking about, honestly.
The PC thread on GAF offers a range of budgets, is very friendly and approachable and will recommend you a build if you give them your price range. The common wisdom dispensed is NOT to buy ultra top range hardware specifically because it has such a poor price/performance ratio. It is only recommended for people with cash to burn or who demand cutting edge performance at any cost. The "Smokey Tier" builds are extremely uncommon. Most people in the thread do not, themselves, own a 980 or similar high range card. They certainly don't own a Titan X. The most common recent card is the 970, a more modestly priced video card that is still powerful, but not excessively priced. "Future proofing" is NOT demanded, in fact the hardcore PC guys here will often tell you specifically that it's a fool's errand and a better solution is to buy something midrange now, then another midrange thing in a few years, instead of buying a single ultra-beast and hoping it stands the test of time.
We also have a series of threads about the i3+750ti combo (thanks Alex), we have threads dedicated to the Alienware Alpha, a low end budget friendly prebuilt PC. It has quite a following on here. We have a laptop thread. We have a "gaming on a 99 dollar Windows Tablet" ultra-low end thread. We take all comers, and the community is not exclusive to high end stuff.
ghst you best be trolling son. I think you are but I can't be sure.
as evidenced by the monstrous build a PC gaf thread which basically tells anyone who is thinking of setlling for less than twin 980s that they're a shrimp dick nobody who should come back when they've learned that coffee is for closers.
do you have any proof? So far that's just one bullshit statement.as evidenced by the monstrous build a PC gaf thread which basically tells anyone who is thinking of setlling for less than twin 980s that they're a shrimp dick nobody who should come back when they've learned that coffee is for closers.
The smallest group often makes the loudest noise.
Isn't it even cheaper to get a PC that matches or beats console performance than it was this early in the 360s life?
This is something that has been bothering me for a while. As somebody with a pretty decent computer, it seems like it's never enough towards those that are elitists. Most PC gamers recommend spending a fortune on a rig to newcomers, instead of providing accurate resources and ideal custom builds towards people that don't care about maxing out games and just want to enjoy the benefits of pc gaming.

PC gamer e-peening is why PC gaming sucks

Hell, even some of the PC gamers on here are embarrassed by their specs, instead of being proud of having a ok graphics card to run some modern games. It's a shame that the PC community can have a smug attitude towards people that have "toasters" or budget builds, yet the community wants gamers to be apart of it to experience "the master race".
This type of mentality is like laughing at a person riding a bike to work, instead of driving a Porsche. It just needs to stop.
What are your thoughts?
Isn't that the benefit of pc gaming?

Most of GAF seems to recommend the best bang for your buck, if you give a budget.
The only frowning I've seen is anybody recommending an AMD cpu over an Intel, or somebody recommending dual core.
There are very reasonable reasons to recommend an intel CPU over a amd one. Performance, mobo compatibility, whatever.Bingo...
It really shouldn't matter, the cpu gets the job done for the price. As far as most of the replies on this thread, I must have read into some posts that come off snobbish and once again, this goes beyond GAF. It's some parts of the community throughout the internet that suggest future builds>>>>budget builds because of reasons. I'm apologize if this thread comes off vague.
I haven't even seen this on reddit. I've probably seen it on 4ch but it was obviously trolling.I feel like you wrote this thread based on an experience you had, but the experience probably wasn't here, so really all it boils down to is complaining about either your friends or some other online community. Based on the whole "master race" thing, I'd guess reddit or 4chan?
As it should be with us from the midtier masses. Not sad, not proud. We're just...there. Like thisI have a midtier GPU and CPU (GTX 970 and 4670K). I am not embarrassed, and neither am I proud.
There are some people who consider a Radeon 280 or GTX 960 to be "low end."
And those people should be laughed at and then ignored. A 750ti is on the lower end of the midrange cards.

and 4670K). I am not embarrassed, and neither am I proud.
