Why can't I delete achievements & trophies?

ah... old thread bump...

deleting could be a problem for games that give an achievement/trophy that you can only earn once... like "reach rank X online" in games where your rank only goes up.

and hey, for a few weeks on 360, you could delete achievements!
I remember that. So they fixed it?
At least you can delete 0 pt games.

My 55 Platinums:

Dude! Why would you do that to yourself :( The fun you got out of that couldn't even come close to justifying the amount of time it took.

Some people like to complete their games 100%. You might not find it fun, but obviously he does. I've got 140~ games completed between retail and DDL and I don't regret finishing one of them (including Yaris).

I have 11 Plats and in every game I have enjoyed to some degree the 'mindliness trophy grind' that comes with getting to 100% because I love the game.

... But at the end of everyone of those Platinums, it's always the same for me: "I just want to finish this, get the Trophy and never play this game again!". In fact I don't think I have a single game with a Platinum Trophy that I still play!

My girlfriend and some family just played Kinect games on my gamertag, unlocking achievements in the process. This stain will never wash off, just like those Burger King games. NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

You should give away a bunch of games to make yourself feel better.

I still think the sensible solution is to give each user a 'trophy case,' which houses the trophies they display to the world. You earn trophies, but get to choose which ones go in your trophy case. By default, all trophies could go in the trophy case, making everything exactly as it is now, unless you choose to customize it.

No need to delete things. You earned them. You have them. But if you don't care about it, chuck it in your 'trophy closet' and neither you nor the rest of the world needs to ever look at it again.

Delete them? Why stop there? All achievement systems should let you completely opt out of any notifications permanently. Now you have nothing left to be OCD about!

Yes please, and make it so that opting out eliminate that loading trophies thing that some games do before booting up.

Reading this thread, I came up with 2 good ideas.

1. The ability to delete any game with less than 10% achievements/trophies earned. That way platinums/1000 games would be safe from malicious attacks. I mean, what we're talking about here is games with like 1 trophy/achievement on it because it was rented or family member/friend played it on our profile forever damning us with that score.

2. Put in the ability to select not to collect achievements/trophies in the options menu's of games so that way if you're not sure about whether or not you want that game to count toward your gamerscore.

But then I start at 0 for all games and on XBox, I'll need to pay for a new Gold account or wait until my current one expires.

You have to pay for xbox live twice if you want a second account on the same console?

Yeah, it would be nice if MS or Sony let you display your favorite achievements on your gamercard or whatever. But at least something like that already exists on TrueAchievements.com.

I just want Sony to let me turn off the fucking notifications. Thinking of having one of those stupid things pop-up in the middle of a very beautiful/emotional The Last Guardian sequence just makes me want to punch someone. In the upcoming Ico/SOTC HD replays too. I haven't let myself get lost into any ps3 game yet to the point where the immersion breaking trophy notifications would take me out of it and piss me off, but with the Team Ico games I just know they will.

Why not include an option to re-display selected achievements every time you get them?

Here's the next step in gamer OCD pandering: include a counter that shows how many times you've earned an achievement.

Guarantee some guys won't stop going until they get 999 of each.

"I have Platinum trophies in all the games I've ever played, woo."
Nobody would care if someonesaid that, even if it was legit. Unles you had an astounding number of games (over 100), then we'd know you do nothing but play games with every breath you take.

I just want to delete rentals I returned after 2 hours. Bayonetta PS3 is something I'm never going to play again, ever. Got it on 360 instead. Just one example.
