Why does Netflix has soo much awesomeness?!?!

Their original content is pretty ace, it alone makes the subscription worth it for me. The other content is pretty weak here in Sweden compared to what you guys get in America. But we don't really have any other streaming services that can compete here. No Hulu, no Amazon, just a few local ones that are generally junk. HBO Nordic is cool for the HBO content specifically, but crap beyond that, so not worth having a permanent subscription to.

The movie selection has gotten really stale and the new rating system has wasted a lot of my time with shitty movies.

The original stuff and shows are good but for movies it's boring. I'm better off just buying new releases on Blu-ray.

Well if we're going by quality Hulu has the single best show and I don't think it's particularly close.

Handmaid's Tale? That's available on HBO Nordic too. Still haven't watched it, but looking forward to it!
And I guess you mean new shows, since The Wire is on HBO =P But I have no idea if other regions have it available elsewhere also.

Wanted to cancel my subscription today, but all these NEW TV shows/Anime/Movies being released in the next few months that are Netflix exclusive is forcing me to keep paying $10. It's like, either than HBO for GoT and my default Amazon Prime signup, all I need is Netflix. Anybody else in the same boat?

Was the $10 hurting you that badly to even consider cancelling? That's a steal.

Amazon Video is available on Sweden, they launched it worldwide in December but if the catalogue is the same as the one in Portugal, then it's shit.

Netflix suggested me that I would like Line Of Duty. Turns out that it is a really good cop show that I absolutely loved so, yeah, Netflix is awesome.

They have actually reached the point where I don't have time to keep up with all of their new releases of original content. Kinda nuts.

US here.

Somebody recommend me some:

Sci Fi movie
Historical Documentary
Science Documentary
Samurai Gourmet style slow television.

I feel like I will never actually get through the stuff on my netflix list, I work from home, spend too much time in front of screens and get through 3 sometimes 4 originals a month. They are stepping up their movie production too.

I only sub to Netflix when a new season of one of their original shows drops that I like. Not worth it for the movies.

Stranger Things, House of Cards, Daredevil, Series of Unfortunate Events, Narcos, The Crown, Black Mirror

Honestly Stranger Things alone makes Netflix better than a lot of other networks for me.

They have more original shows than I can actually keep pace with. Paying 10 bucks a month to watch high quality series like Sense 8 is so fucking worth it when I spend that much on some shitty movie at the theatre.

The next price increase is going to get iffy though.

The CW deal Netflix has is pretty great. I'll resub at some point in the near future to catch up on that stuff + the Castlevania show.

I don't particularly care for most of their original content TBH. Master of None is cool and I liked the Chappelle specials, but the recent Marvel stuff has been a disappointment and they still haven't made an original drama that I've enjoyed.

Their originals are all pretty awesome.

  • Orange is the new black
  • Master of None
  • Stranger Things
  • 13 Reasons (watching this now :(
  • Catching a murderer
  • All their MCU stuff!
  • I'm sure there's tons more I'm forgetting
  • And all their comedy specials recently

Isn't Amazon Prime losing all its HBO content soon? Without that the only thing I'll tune in that for will be The Tick, Van Damme's Show and if they ever get S2 of shows like Mr. Robot or The Expanse. That place will be a wasteland.

Anne with an E is freaking brilliant. An amazing telling of a classic series. Seriously--it is well worth the watch.

You get a lot of bang for your buck. I have both Netflix and Hulu and I absolutely love them both.

As for Netflix I loved watching Dear White People, need to start Master of None Season 2, and I'm binge watching Twin Peaks (and if I end up loving it I'll add Shotime to Hulu just to watch Season 3).

I'm genuinely surprised to see so many disatisfied with Netflix. There are at least a couple pieces of original content they release each month that I'm excited to see and I've rarely been disappointed. Just finished the new season of Kimmy Schmidt and now I'm thrilled for Okja. I heard the Duffer Brothers on Dan Harmon's podcast talk about how they basically gave them free reign to do Stranger Things after they were rejected by most major networks beforehand. Netflix brought back Black Mirror, so they obviously know something about quality.

The other services just finally caught up in quality and content. Netflix for me has become a 2-3 months a year investment any longer.

Netflix has regressed for me. Used to be a lot better.

Hulu has A LOT of TV that Netflix doesn't, especially comedy, and a TON more anime if you're into that.

Also, The Handmade's Tale is better than any Netflix Drama.

I also think Filmstruck is a must-have sub if you are really into classic and foreign cinema.

I don't order much from Amazon so Prime is the sub I don't need. Currently riding that free Showtime trial for Twin Peaks but if I wanted Showtime that would be another plus to Hulu.

Nah.

smh. Name one quality Amazon original series. The Wiggles?

Sneaky Pete
Goliath
Transparent
Man in the High Castle
Z: The Beginning of Everything
Patriot
Mozart in the Jungle
The Grand Tour
Bosch
I Love Dick
Red Oaks
Etc

I would wager their original programming has a higher metacritic than Netflix.

And their acquisitions (HBO, waaay better movie selection) and original films put netflix to shame.

Also waaaay more 4k HDR content.

Also you get way more shit for less than a 4k Netflix sub (shipping, music, etc)

Netflix is a trash tier value compared to Amazon imo.

If you want to watch shit tier comic book shows then by all means Netflix is where it's at. Christ Daredevil and Jessica Jones are fucking boring. Haven't been able to watch an episode without falling asleep.

Yeah I think like at the end of 2018. I really hope they manage to work out a deal though before that happens. I would think Amazon realizes it would be a big loss and will work hard to keep it or at least replace it with showtime or Starz. I'd be down with American Gods and Black Sails for free. Even without HBO though I still think it's better than Netflix as a value proposition given it's vastly superior film collection and more 4K HDR content. It's originals generally cater more to my tastes than Netflix originals too, and their movie studio had been putting out awesome stuff lately.

Amazon Prime is much better overall and you get free 2 day shipping on Amazon stuff and good add-on subscriptions. Netflix has just enough content to keep me subscribing but they have been going downhill for years. 99% of Netflix originals are garbage.

All shows no one talks about. Are there eveb gaf threads for them?

the australian selection is pure ass. i was expecting it to improve, but it hasn't - if house of cards wasn't about to drop i would cancel my membership.

I still enjoy Netflix and it's still worth it to me, but I feel like for the last 3 years or so it's consistently been the case that more stuff I like is leaving than being added each month. The entire Fox tv catalog leaving last month was the latest massive blow to me, I'd take that back over the whole netflix originals library without a second thought (and I know that was probably more Fox's doing than Netflix, but just saying).

lol no one cares or talks about any of these shows. Never even heard of any of them except for one or two.

Netflix seems to have like a new original series or movie releasing almost every week the past couple of months. May has been stuffed and it seems to be pushing into June as well.

Check out the Netflix ot

Gonna schill Hasan minaj's standup here too as I just finished it. Damn good. Brown dudes be killing it with Master of None s2 dropping as well.

Maybe if you are a comic book nerd I guess. I mean the Grand Tour sucked, but it was all people talked about for a year when it was announced the Top Gear crew were going to Amazon. Of course Amazon is going to lose the HBO content when the contract expires, so it's value drops quite a bit.

Netflix started being bad when they had to clamp down on region locking, but it's not completely terrible in Canada.

Ive never been a TV person but my ISP gave me 6 months of free Netflix so I signed up a few days ago.

So far Ive watched half of Stranger Things which is amazing but IDK, I dont really see myself using it much. Doesnt help that Netflix Canada is more limited.
