While the other major studios have large libraries of ports and remasters, EA's is almost non-existent. This leaves little hope for a Mass Effect Trilogy on current gen.

Why isn't EA doing remasters when everyone else is?

All their games are already on PC, so there isn't as much of a necessity to update them when you can grab a copy for cheap on Steam/Origin and it will look good.

Remasters weren't popular until last gen because there probably wasn't much money to be made doing them.

But this gen people love their games in 1080p/60fps and people like me would love nothing more than to re-experience games from last gen with higher resolution textures and the aforementioned 1080p/60fps. I'm 100% in for remasters as long as we get a steady flow of new games to complement them. I have no issue with remasters being released in the dead months of the year.

Remasters have become a way to get some easy cash with minimal amount of work.

Right now the Mass Effect trilogy is all but guaranteed to get a remaster.
Dead Space trilogy is a maybe.
Crysis is not likely, but possible.
Mirrors Edge could happen as a way to get people excited for ME2.

Aside from those what franchises does EA own that would be in high demand for a remaster?

There was a Mass Effect thread here on GAF where a Bioware GM asked us what we'd like to see in a Mass Effect Trilogy remaster, beyond the obvious (includes all DLC, 1080p/60, seamless transition between games, etc, etc.).

Yep -- made more improvements than NBA 2K15 did from its predecessor. But of course people who don't actually play the game know exactly how it is!

Anyway, it's probably due to EA making so many sequels for their series. I would instantly buy a remastered NBA Street Vol. 2 with updated rosters though.

From that I take it that a remaster hasn't been greenlit or even entered pre-production. So basically, it isn't happening so far. Asking for basic feature interest sounds like they didn't get an approval yet.

On the plus side EA games are usually on PC with (recently) serviceable ports, so the need for remasters isn't as high (as someone who owns both consoles and PC anyway)

Lots of sports titles get hit hard by generation transitions. Poor WWE 2k15

I'm probably an insane person, but I'd love to see EA put out an HD port of the Army of Two trilogy just to bring those games to PC/Origin. I liked them well enough on consoles and was always bummed that they never got onto PC as well, even the latest one.
