@CatCouch Remember back in the day when if you didn't like something you just didn't buy it? How is art hurting anyone? What's next, can we get police on the streets to make sure that teenage girls are not allowed to wear mini skirts and tube tops? I mean it's basically pedophilia right? Lets just ship every human being a burlap sack and never let any of these awful beings every experience anything and anybody again.

This shit is annoying, I love me some good erotic art. We live in a country that wants to legalize drugs and yet drawings must be outlawed....Fuck this world

That's the thing, I need to protect myself as an artist. I need to know what I can and can't do. Right now I have no idea, I've had Deviant Art delete art of mine I couldn't imagine would be an issue and I've had multiple comments about "pedo" stuff on my art. I think people think it's funny or "trolling".

I fear that there will be a ban on art people determine to look underage. Who makes that determination though?

If it was just loli art I could understand, it's pretty clear it looks different than big breasted fan service art, but when you're trying to argue the difference between a 17 year old and an 18 year old in a drawing I can see severe problems brewing. I'm sure some will argue even 30 year old anime characters look underage. Remember that Jason Schreier called the Sorceress from Dragon's Crown a "lolicon fantasy" on this very forum.

Hopefully Japan can label all characters 18+ like you see on hentai animations. I'd hate to see art more restricted than real life porn. You can verify age of real porn actors/actresses but you can't "prove" the age of a drawing.

I can easily see all bigger platforms, including the one's artists make money from, banning all erotic art (like Tumblr) just to avoid the uncertainty. If that happens then I can see games like Persona not being acceptable anymore. Deviant Art has deleted fully clothed Persona 5 art for being underage before.

I need to see some realistic coverage of this topic, all this behind the scenes censoring with no real discussion is scary. You can't leave something this serious in such an ambiguous state.

Dang, that's a long post, haha~

The change to Zanki Zero's cover art pretty much says it all.

Scandalous!

Zanki Zero has an Asia Region (Chinese subtitles) release set for March 14th; it'll be interesting to see whether this version will also be altered or if these changes are reserved for the West.

It's becoming increasingly clear "muh animu pedo" games have a giant target on their backs outside Japan. Hopefully some alternative outlet can be found for these products, because I don't see things getting any better on the PS4 and STEAM.

Now you see why this is a problem. Those who have an intense hatred for eastern/eastern-inspired art have an incentive to cast as wide a net as they possibly can. Illustrated depictions of children is vague enough that you see people (like on Resetera for instance) trying to rope in any stylized/non-photo realistic characters that they can in order to claim that those who created them are pedophiles. In their Twitter thread they had posters trying to analyze people's avatars so they could claim that they are pedophiles for using them.

It's most certainly an uncertain time for artists since some desire to see art itself turn into a minefield where you can't be certain what exactly is appropriate or not because what we're talking about is inherently subjective.

You have people who say dumb shit like "I know it when I see it" to handwave away the fact that everyone has a different answer when it comes to age. For some reason all of these people think that they alone are worthy to determine the "real" age of fictional characters.

The Jason Schreier example is a perfect fit here. He looked at a picture of a tall sorceress with huge breasts and came to the conclusion that she was an underage child. Because everyone knows pedophiles are attracted to tall women with huge breasts. It's people like that that want the ability to brand and punish artists who step beyond the invisible line.

They've already gone past the point of "argue the difference between a 17 year old and an 18 year old in a drawing". They all think their opinion is law and above everyone else's and people should be punished on their word alone. Doesn't matter if the character is tall or within height expected of an adult, doesn't matter if they have multiple markers for an adult body. Doesn't matter if all the contextual clues in the world are there, none of it matters if they don't want it to.

I fully expect things to get worse because the train is going full speed and it seems people are just running away to avoid getting run over.

I am strongly against censorship and believe art should be expressed freely, otherwise the medium will become stuck in limbo and ultimately never move forward...

That having been said ,I am also for private Enterprise doing what they think is best for the company up to and including censorship.

Some may not like Sony's actions here, understandably so but if you have an issue simply don't buy the game or don't buy any Sony games, vote with your mouth and your wallet.

In regards to the censorship of the illustrations and their sexual nature, the words below are my personal beliefs if you don't agree more power to you

I am a firm believer that art is nothing more than paint on canvas or if it's digital ones and zeros, be it hentai, be it 3D, or just regular cartoons or illustrations I don't believe anyone is being hurt by it so I don't think there's an actual issue here as far as being illegal. (Yes that includes the usual gross stuff to many)

I am hoping for a JPN release with English Subtitles for most of these type of games. Release the games as they are and let those interested in having an unaltered experience import them. Meanwhile they can release the shitty censored version in the west.

That would be nice, but Japanese developers need to see an actual market, with the question being--assuming uncensored Asian Region (English subtitles) editions become unfeasible--are there enough people willing to import directly from Japan to justify such releases? We really need some test cases to try and prove viability.

We have a few games with different versions on Switch/PC. Will be curious to see if any Xbox One versions of games will come uncensored.
Well, there you go. DMCV Trish's butt is blinded by a light on PS4 and no light on Xbox One or PC.

+1 for MS so far

Hope they keep it up in the future along with Nintendo and PC.

This is what I was waiting to know. I was thinking One Piece World Seeker would be the game that was censored on PS4 and not on Xbox One but DMCV beat it to the punch~

Crazy to see Sony go this route.

I guess it's not new since Sony was the only one to censor BMX XXX when the Gamecube and OG Xbox didn't.

Thread worthy. Potential buyers must be warned that the PS4 version is inferior.
Anyone can make one if they want. I'm off to bed in a minute, it's 3AM here, lol~

THis sure is a game changer. No one can argue it's just anime art being censored now. I, too, want an explanation!

If this bothers you, I do not know what to say. It's a cultural difference. In the US the swimsuits look like on the left. The US was founded on crazy christians. So yeah, change the game to your market.

The game and characters are obviously in a post apocalyptic Japan. Why would they be wearing US swimsuits?

For those who didn't consider most higher-profile Japanese games relevant enough, it finally started affecting blockbusters.
The day one US version patch to the PS4 version of Devil May Cry 5 (M-rated) has the butt, not even frontal nudity, of the definitely realistically-drawn Trish, covered up with Sony California's trademark mysterious lights.

These mysterious lights affected Lady in other versions, but to Capcom's credit, they didn't in the case of Trish in all non-Sony platforms. The JP PS4 version isn't affected for now, but while this may imply the guidelines are regional / defined clearly again for Japanese developers (as the Oneechanbara development team implied, when asked if that incertitude will prevent more games... though the PS4's overall position is precarious for those games and Japanese development in general, considering it's still lagging behind the Switch and doing numbers comparable to the Wii U, a fact often attributed to the ailing console market in Japan but which may be exaberated by this new content policy shift) ... this might be an oversight by Sony California soon to be "corrected" in another new patch for the JP version. It was after all an urgent fix that warranted inclusion in a day-one patch for the Western game that didn't originally have it.

Some reports say that disabling lens flare in the PC version also disables the censorship in both instances, but that might be an oversight. It's still one option besides mods.

It is indeed very refreshing that many developers are starting to realize they don't have to maintain version parity with Sony California's surreal "lighting engine", and that Sony's policies are getting increasingly bold and visible.
It begs mention that the slippery slope shifted from potentially illegal content, to exposed skin that's not even frontal, sexual nudity, for all western versions and not only the US version. It certainly looks inspired by Sony's indie guidelines which, let's remember, also include certain subjects even when treated in text, that may be deemed "problematic". This isn't letting up either, and except certain anticipated titles to be affected (or even cancelled for PS4).

Some publishers have started porting games from the Vita and PS4 to other platforms (typically the Switch and PC) just to be able to localize them. It seems Sony's go-to solution for those publishers (forcing them to go Vita-exclusive, and cancel the PS4 versions, just months from the platform's discontinuation in Japan, like what they did with Silvario Trinity) isn't a very attractive proposition anymore...
 • Gun Gun Pixies (shooter with fanservice)
 • Irotoridori no Sekai (VN) - the all-ages version used in a PS Vita port from the PC original, is getting ported to PC again. The full adult content from the game is getting a "director's cut" release as well.
Interesting times indeed...

If you aren't a fan of Sony's censorship policies, remember to support DMCV on other platforms such as PC (which has a workaround to avoid Denuvo).

With DMC5, if Capcom doesn't make a statement addressing the issue, I'm going to assume it was in fact Sony asking for this censorship of partial adult nudity. As for the uncensored Trish scene in the PC & X-Box versions, it wouldn't surprise me, if this was merely a lack of oversight on Capcom's part.

If this bothers you, I do not know what to say.
If you don't know what to say, then why are you responding to me?

I'm going to hope you're actively trolling; otherwise, you've never see a "US...swimsuit..." and possibly never seen a real swimsuit, in general.

The US was founded on crazy christians. So yeah, change the game to your market.
Your comment is only correct, if you're insinuating it was changed to placate the ESRB and/or Sony, as opposed to it being the the result of localization conforming to regional consumer tastes.

Kind of good to know that the XB1 and PC versions aren't just ported from the PS4 version with the holy light censorship.

It would be funny if Capcom makes a statement and calls Sony out on their prudish meddling.

I feel for ATLUS USA at the moment with the Valkyria 4 and Catherine: Full Body witchhunts.

I can see Sakura Wars being censored if this keeps up as they usually have a younger character in the game that you don't really "date" but do have a sibling like relationship with. (As far as I remember reading)

I can see why the SMT games are on Nintendo now but the Treehouse Team are still known for censoring content.

This DMC5 censorship has me even more concerned about PS5.
:(

I hope there is some sort of statement made. If the Xbox and PC version get patched and censored that will be even more concerning. Because then we won't know where the censorship is coming from.

Won't happen. Capcom will be in the doghouse if they publicly called out Sony.

Game companies know this. Just like EA when they did EA Access. Sony basically called their EA Access sub plan garbage and for gamers to buy PS Now. And banned EA Access from the PS Marketplace.

EA never said a thing about it.

SMT3 Nocturne had some items renamed to remove associations to a certain early Abrahamic religion. Considering SMT4 has no such problems yet is Nintendo exclusive, that might have to do with Sony since they have something about offending real life religions, now that I think about it.

It will be a massive bridge burning with real consequences for companies.
Koei Tecmo (Otome publisher) and some smaller VN publishers dared speaking against this Sony California censorship policy. By the time they spoke up, they already went Switch-exclusive for their future games.
Xseed, PCube, D3Publisher and Idea Factory sidestepped the issue as much as they could without calling out Sony directly, or tried downplaying it, but still did their own thing.
NISA spoke against Sony's lack of cooperation, but then did a formal apology afterwards, guess why that happened out of the blue. It sure wasn't unsollicited.

Rarely will you ever see a company say to a platform holder, in public, "you suck", unless it's something like EA after getting denied by Nintendo to take over the Wii U eshop with their own software, or Microsoft years after the fact and only if the decision in question caused a studio to tank already.

The latest One Piece game (World Seekers) has its hotspring scene cut from the NA versions on consoles, and ALL versions on PC (not even pirated unlocked versions have the data for it).
It still made it to Europe and the Middle East, translated and mostly uncut... as well as Japan, of course.

For reference, it's the cutscene that had a very thick layer of ridiculous mist in early preview videos that made it seem like they were caught in a toxic gas leak. It was speculated this would be its final look, but it seems Sony Japan had second thoughts about doing this with the kid-friendly, mass appeal One Piece franchise and expose their recent policy to mass ridicule. Not that it deterred the American branch, or Namco Bandai simply said better safe than sorry and skipped the region entirely.

The translated version of the cutscene in question:

Meanwhile, Resetera is taking their long list of grievances with DMCV:
 • Not as political as DmC
 • Has a "problematic" song they were glad it was changed after community pressure (because it was shitty and the singer a pedophile, not necessarily the same reasons as resetera's concern with toxic masculinity but it worked out well for everyone for once)
 • Has an indirect Michael Jackson homage, despite a recent HBO documentary with very loose allegations meaning that MJ is to be scrubbed from pop culture past and present effective immediately
 • The nudity censorship isn't complete enough and is making Sony look bad, and they're really upset people are talking about this at all
And adding this to the mix: Political purity tests for the English voice acting cast. Caught in the crossfire:
 • Joey Camen (Morrisson): Miscast as "the only" black character in the game (because Nico doesn't count), wore a balaclava, said nigga, all crimes that can be considered blackface on their own.
 • Reuben Langdon (Dante): dared to defend Vic Mignogna in the context of the libelious allegations made about him and his unaware fans, the supposed victims, by ANN and other websites. He is thus guilty of "dismissing BLM and Metoo" in one single stroke.
Trish, Morrisson, and Nico are magical blackfaces as well.

I guess if Sega (Judgement: recall of JP copies indefinitely and delay for overseas copies) and Disney/Square Enix (Kingdom Hearts 3 via update) can do voice actor replacements post-release (the cocaine-smoking Japanese voice actor recently caught), then Capcom should "get their shit together" and appease Resetera, which isn't at their first rodeo with voice actor updates.

One should remember they led a very big controversy against two John Tron voice acted cameos in Yooka-Laylee (which yielded to pressure, though the cameo made it to master and was gone only by the time the day-one update hit) and A Hat In Time (which didn't yield, and whose developers are regularly and casually accused of all sorts of hate crimes at resetera these days).
A multi-target controversy is new though, bold even. Must be the dopamine heat from their recent days trying to link Pewdewpie, and not only call for a THQ boycott (until the entire PR team is fired, nothing like a good firing) but even Deep Silver (being an European gamer is immoral these days) and seriously claim they are linked to the NZ terrorist massacre. It was quite the popcorn for the internet at wide which got to see a high profile case of resetera insanity and bloodlust for developer blood. A lot of youtube personalities comforted PDP and are thus on the persona non grata list so expect more controversies out for their blood whenever they appear inevitably in game projects.

Resetera also is providing yet another example of the horseshoe theory by calling for the removal of No Russians mission entirely (replaced with narration, it's totally different than the other censorship!) from upcoming remasters from the Call of Duty series.
Justifications like "videogame stories are shit anyways, it would benefit from cutting more of it" and "i feel insecure and unwelcome" make their obligatory appearance as usual in those type of censorship apologia arguments.

It also seems Harada from Namco called out the recent censorship climate in increasingly direct ways, though not as direct as when he directly called out old!neogaf/resetera by name when saying they need a censored version all for themselves while Europe/SEA/Japan gets the normal deal, and only stopped when an ERA fan threatened to slit her wrist if he didn't stop. I don't have the exact wording for his recent tweets though.

While resetera might be eventually an history footnote as one of the most pathetic online dens of insanity, they're still relevant enough on the subject of game censorship to be worth a mention here whenever they plan something. This is seeing they are one of the main parties pushing for it, and have on their board localizers from Treehouse, like-minded people from the Sony San Mateo approval comitee they have direct access to and are upset they don't have the same access for Valve/GOG, and at one point had the lead of 8-4 as an admin among other things... all of them vocal and beyond the benefit of doubt in what they really want...
Their attempts to sabotage the Catherine and Persona 5 localizations (which included calling for the firing of Hashino, and stating their intention to dox him for that end) have garnered enough infamy and reach at Atlus that the fanbase is starting to notice, and they themselves are starting to notice they are noticed by the public at large and make futile attempts to shoo them away with excuses like "we're not going after the things you like, honest!"

As some put it best, light is the best disinfectant. Their attempts to push for censorship are as worthy of documentation as the incidents of censorship themselves. Then companies can get shamed for pandering to non-consumers who push for things like THIS, provided with zero commentary:

ResetEra is basically riding on the wave of popularity that NeoGAF built over more than a decade. This used to be a place where actual game discussion took place and a place that game developers were proud to belong to and interact with the community - but then a bunch of assholes insinuated themselves into the moderator halls, turned NeoGAF into a walking joke, then abandoned it and took the majority of the population with it. Now ResetEra has a huge population that was built off a time when NeoGAF would've been everything they hate now, and use that inherited power to push, frankly, absurd revenge fantasies on the game industry. They got so many users that they can ban a quarter or a fifth of their users and still have a userbase large enough to maintain their power. They are like a spoiled trust fund kid - they can't possibly spend through all their money, so money has no meaning to them and they don't value what it has allowed them to have.

ResetEra is a blight on the game industry. They didn't earn the power they have, they don't wield it responsibly, and they might be the most toxic community on the internet - worse even than 4chan and Something Awful back in their heyday.

So, they apparently removed the "malfunction" feature from some of the bikinis in DOAX3 Scarlet on PS4.
On the other hand, the official site also revealed more details on the content that won’t be included on the PS4 version of the game, in addition to what was announced a few months ago. Apparently, some of the swimsuits on PS4 will not have the “malfunction” feature that causes them to be showcased in a slightly messed up fashion.

On top of that, some DLC outfits that have the costume break feature won’t be destroyed on Sony’s console.
https://twinfinite.net/2019/03/dead-or-alive-xtreme-3-scarlet-censorship-ps4/

This is even worse than having the bikinis completely removed. It wasn't already enough to get rid of the fans and therefor tons of hidden animations/voicelines in owner/photo paradise mode, nope... gotta tone it down some more. lol
At this point I'd be surprised if they keep the Owner's Paradise mode untouched, because there the girls react to your stares... getting all embarrassed when you stare at their tits/asses/thighs too long, or cover up when you get too close with your camera, kind of telling you off.

I'm slightly surprised Bandai Namco even provided an avenue for EU consumers to obtain the Hot Springs Mission, although locking it behind their regional loyalty rewards program does place it somewhat beyond the reach of the general populace. Now to wait and see whether this portends any new trends for the company of allocating certain content to DLC in Japan, so as to avoid claims of things being removed from Western releases. Regardless, I doubt we'll ever get a statement on the matter.

As for DMC5, I've really been enjoying the game. Hopefully we won't see a concerted effort from the usual outlets of dragging the game through the mud for not being worthy of their Certified Safe Space seal of approval.

Meanwhile on the Nintendo Switch, Super Real Mahjong PV, a strip mahjong game for the Saturn originally that had top frontal nudity, has been allowed after a slight delay with very, very thin censor rays by Nintendo.

It seems they got in legal hot water with CERO which doesn't allow frontal nudity for the game's CERO D rating (and possibly any rating) since it was founded, because neither Nintendo nor the developers gave enough fucks about the censorship and it was so minimal some aureolas ended up showing (this video at 11:52, obviously NSFW). The game, which was initially delayed pre-release, has been pulled from the eShop as Nintendo requested adjusting the censorship enough to meet Japanese bare criteria. and expected to be back for release after Nintendo's approval process (so roughly three weeks).

Siliconera: Super Real Mahjong PV Temporarily Removed From eShop Due To Scenes In Need Of Revision said:
According to a notice from the publisher, Mighty Craft, Nintendo temporarily removed Super Real Mahjong PV from the eShop due to some scenes with insufficient censorship as the reason. This is something that was also pointed out by Japanese entertainment rating organization CERO (Computer Entertainment Rating Organization).

The publisher says it is currently working on checking and revising the entire game, and are getting ready to have it reviewed by Nintendo. After passing Nintendo’s inspection, they expect to release a patch to revise the game.

It seems resetera's witchhunt was signal boosted enough by Newsweek (cited that forum as an authority on the matter and what "the gaming community wants", no less) and Eurogamer "asking for comment" from Capcom, that Capcom responded with this:

When contacted for comment yesterday, a Capcom spokesperson said the company was looking into the situation, but stressed the views expressed by both Camen and Langdon are not shared by Capcom whatsoever.
Resetera is upset by the attention they're starting to get from the DMC fanbase, now "his followers", as it's annoying to do their firing witchhunts under those conditions. Their latest witch hunts were againts Katsura Hashino (Persona 5, Catherine) and Tetsuya Nomura (Parasite Eve PSP) but attracted too much attention from a defensive fanbase so they stopped.

Eeeeeyup. Check out how Langdon and his defenders are resorting to the "it's just an opinion guuuuuys!" shtick -- perpetuating racist/sexist rhetoric contributing to a pervasive status quo is apparently the same as, uh, not enjoying chocolate ice cream or Nintendo products or w/e.

Funny you bring up mob mentality too considering they're all too happy to participate in rape culture and whatnot. (The Vic Mignogna situation being particularly emblematic of that phenomenon. )
I'd legitimately wager (if I actually had money lmao) that most of the StandWithVic people aren't even actually fans of his work; it wouldn't surprise me at all if they're just alt-right people stoking fires, trolls, or bots. iirc we saw that a lot in other things that popped up (The Last Jedi's backlash, GamerGate, etc.). You can't even mention "stories about this have been around for over a decade" without those five of those people popping up and insisting that a discussion of him is harassment (while ignoring that what they're doing is harassment).

In general, this is far from the worst thing we've seen someone in gaming culture do, and it can be hard to do boycotts in general, but this is super disappointing at the very least. You'd think any discussion of this, though, is tantamount to trying to swat the guy, from the way people are reacting.
You can add yet another trophy for Eurogamer and Resetera. Tetsuya Nomura witchhunt resumed when?

The industry will never be safe as long as ERA has leverage and power. Even though so many users get banned there for no reason, the forum still has a lot of users.

It seems resetera is really upset that the DMC fandom on twitter, reddit (despite the moderator crackdown), gamefaqs, various imageboards like 4chan and 8chan (what are they even doing there? Isn't that like, a bannable offense?), wikis, discord chats and forums are correctly, overwhelmingly, pointing fingers at them as the origin behind this witchhunt out for those TWO voice actors' blood.
They are also very upset the voice actors didn't provide them willingly with an admission of fault ("just what that fans need to be happy and move on") that's then used to conclude their witchhunt with a very public firing, in a very similar way as Vic Mignogna and others did before. You'd think the one voice actor following closely Vic's case would at least notice the pattern and know better than help the witch hunt mob.

They (resetera who accused Pewdewpie of being directly responsible for the NZ shooting) try explaining this out as a mass case of conspiracy theories. As is on par the course for resetera, twitter likes from Dante's VA and sympathizing with Vic Mignogna (fired because of allegations he hugged some fans against their consent, despite those fans coming forward later and stating the opposite, and now gearing for a lawsuit) are enough to link him to mass shooting attempts by individuals linked to the QAnon movement (apparently a belief enough of a cause for employment termination in the eyes of resetera)

Dante's voice actor on twitter also raises up some very interesting points.
He says that lately, people upset with the game's quality or aspects of it, try to go after members of the development studio to get them fired for unrelated issues dug from their personal lives.
Two vocalists were indeed removed from DMCV this way once the fanbase thrown into a frenzy by their shitty song rendition dug up enough from their personal lives to uncover a past of sexual harassment and get them fired. But resetera takes it a step further for Catherine (Katsura Hashino) and The Third Birthday (Tetsuya Nomura) by using the "tropes" inside the game, not even the developer's real life "crimes", to get the directors and everyone involved fired.

As for why DMC5 is problematic, it seems that resetera and the gaming press really liked DmC, and not because of its decent gameplay, but its almost-universally hated story that shits on the fanbase (not even subtly, but in ways that continue forum arguments between Ninja Theory and the fanbase inside the game proper) while also heavily pushing some real-life political themes favorable to the resetera crowd. Its performance was so bad the console-only remaster had to trim a lot of the more ridiculous lines out of the game.
DMC5 went back to the "inferior cheesy" style of plot that panders to early-DMC fanbase sensibilities, and the gaming press made it clear they were very upset with that direction and wasted no breath repeating that while DMC5 is mechanically with most of the gameplay meant for a DmC2, it's still a shame it's not DmC2 (so plotwise), and how much DmC is superior to the main series. Resetera has been pushing so far for no less than SIX INDIVIDUALS tied with DMCV to be fired, as their probable solution for the problem of it existing.

The original outrage thread for DMC V also mentioned Capcom "whitewashing" Nico in the anime artwork (not black enough, despite being canonically the granddaughter of a very white lady from DMC4) so expect the actual character designers to be caught next on resetera's chopping block.

tl;dr: All the more reason to be more vigilant about those calls for censorship as they develop, in order to shield developers of content that doesn't pass Stalinian guidelines of resetera from being doxed and fired over as little as twitter likes. It doesn't seem they like it when the fanbases make themselves heard that resetera's demands don't represent them.

Resetera: how dare the world say we are wrong? How dare everybody makes us the villain? You guys are just a bunch of [insert the reasons normally used to ban people]. We should make boycott to make everyone who point finger us to be fired from their jobs.

The importance of this shouldn't be understated. Resetera is such an airtight echo chamber that, even in their topics begging for companies to censor more localizations and cut more content (talking about mainstream games), and when they know the demand is outrageous and fan-unfriendly, they say stuff like "Cut this. No one will ever complain. No one will say anything." At best it will be amended to "No one worth a shit anyways."

From the above linked page, a telling exchange:

So here you have it.

The counter opinion that those demands are stupid and encroach on what other fans want, big time, does exist. The fact it exists upsets resetera greatly. But not as much as people who hold it expressing themselves, making it known they exist, aren't the hateful niche boogeyman troll army of some dead imageboard that resetera is making it out to be, but a big part of the market.

Resetera's demands don't represent what the market at large want. They really hate it when it's not the vague "complaints by fans" but the specific "resetera-led witchhunt" that identifies who is really pushing for censorship, who has forum admins coordinating doxing operations of game developers and employees, repeatedly. They hate that limelight, and owning their mess.

The fanbase needs to get vocal enough for companies to get it right. It's not impossible. Namco Bandai saw right through it, and Tekken 6 is now reaching the market uncut (remember that neogaf did a similar controversy to try and get Lucky Chloe removed), and regional branches of Namco (Europe, South East Asia, America and Japan) each have their own localization policy, which is how uncut versions of Digimon 2018 and the latest One Piece, or English versions at all of Super Robot Wars and Summer Lessons VR, came into existence. This is because Harada and the higher ups at Namco correctly identified thanks to fan input that neogaf demands are unreasonable and don't represent the market, and that the opinions not represented on that forum EXIST and are consumers too. Now that those consumers showed support too, the problem sorted itself out.

I understand that. What I'm making fun of is what it takes for them to understand when they're wrong. Like, if a dozen of communities telling they're wrong is not enought then what is? Mind you, thats a silly question, because even when they are undeniably wrong they won't admit it. Like the thread about "Tekken player who took a scold from his married sister".

I'm glad that things like what the Tekken creator says on twitter happened. We're reaching a point where everything is offensive. And everyone who opposes are punished.

Hey, does anyone know what's going on with the Subreddit for Dead Or Alive 6? Marie-Rose, Nico and Honoka are being considered underage age in some circumstances now and have restrictions on what you can post about them. A mod response implies that even showing future costumes for Marie-Rose could be prohibited.

I like checking the subreddit for the game but I'm out if reddit is considering Honoka to be a loli.

I simply don't understand what's happening here, is Dead Or Alive being considered child porn now? Reading the post leads me to believe that nearly everything can be considered underage and age is bizarrely stated not to be sufficient enough in determining if a character looks underage.

I am deeply uncomfortable with the idea that reddit believes a game I bought from Amazon "encourages or promotes pedophilia".

Why the fuck do you care what a bunch of commies on reddit not affiliated with the game think? All girls in the game are legal according to the DOA wikia. Also I know a lot of underage characters from japanese games get aged up to 18 if they come to the us. They're not real anyway. BTW Marie Rose is 15 and underage because I say so. Just read the comments on the post. The mod is a fucking dumbass.

It seems to be an issue with the site and not just the mod. It looks like reddit is screwing up all the anime subreddits with new rules that vaguely define what is now banned. Sounds like the "everything Japanese is underage" hysteria hit them.

It's definitely concerning to me as an artist. Quite a few sites I post on have taken issue with me over the last year and I certainly don't draw underage art. Reddit now tops the list of the most censor-happy sites I've seen. Not a good direction.

I just created a reddit account this year and it looks like I need to get the hell out already, lol~

Would explain why you can't bust up Honokers up.

Yep. Everything is being invaded by those people pushing their beliefs on everybody.

She's 18 according to the official japanese site.
