Why in the world are Wiis still hard to find?

I'd say every month more and more Gafer's start accepting it; hence the NPD threads now evolving from "Wii's a fad" to "3rd parties won't sell on Wii".
 
If Sony and Nintendo's position were switched people, like Rancid, would be saying "Oh, well that makes sense." How I love the hypocrisy. :lol

What happens after June when RE4: Wii and Harry Potter and The Bigs Wii versisons sell more than their other versions?
 
Wii Sports is the main reason, but it's quite a bit more complicated than that and it's definitely not all Nintendo fanboys and casuals buying the console. We've went over this ad nauseum though.

"3rd Parties are just making spin offs/mini-games/ports/multiplatform games for the Wii. 360/PS3 have all the good, deep, epic games with intricate gameplay and engrossing storylines that are only possible on the 360/PS3. Also, HD is superior, anyways."

In the holidays after the $99 price drop, Nintendo usually packed in something like the Zelda disc, Metroid Prime, or Mario Kart (or was it Party?). Xbox + Halo in early 2004 was pretty popular, though a bit farther back.

Wii owners like bad/old games? Have you played Harry Potter? I can't imagine anyone spending $50 on this game. To spend $60 (for the X360 or PS3 versions) would just be ridiculous. And though I said RE4 was the best game I had played since OoT, I have no interest in the Wii version. I have already played through this game. I would much rather have a new experience.

Like consoles past, the Wii will be great for Nintendo games and I'll have to go elsewhere for compelling 3rd party experiences. I just hope Nintendo makes more games like Mario Galaxy and less like Wii Sports. Oh, and another Pikmin would be nice.

I hope developers don't believe this. I want a new experience, not tacked on motion controls. I'm not going to play through the same game twice because it has added motion controls, just like I wouldn't play though the same game because it has better graphics or Achievements.

No, I haven't tried it yet. I rented Order of the Phoenix instead. But from what I've read it's the same game - same enemies and puzzle and art - with motion controls. Am I wrong?

Seriously? I don't remember any of these official pack-ins. Are you talking about store-specific promotions, or actual Ninty freebies?

Either way, they don't compare to a free title at launch, which is entirely uncommon. That hasn't been done in ages.

Yes, its a totally new Experience and how RE4 was meant to be played in the first place
 
Here's my anecdotal evidence: Between launch and last Friday I'd seen a total of two Wiis in the wild (at a Walmart in February.)

This past Friday, I saw a Wii in the wild for the second time: 2 at a Walmart. And this Monday, I saw 6 at Target.

I always check whenever I enter a store that carries games. Maybe it's meaningless, or maybe it means demand is finally catching supply.

That's not really the point. The point was that third parties now sell better on Wii than they do on PS3 while simultaneously making more profit on them because of the varying development costs. This along with the huge userbase is why there's even exclusive games from EA and Ubi-Soft coming. I think you'll be surprised come E3. The only third party exclusives will be the Wii ones, pretty much.

EDIT: And compelling? What's that supposed to mean? RE: UC and NiGHTS 2 are very compelling third party games just as a quick example. Unless you mean the type of compelling where you tap a button every so often to skip to the next cutscene in a drab, colorless world?

I would hazard to guess that a lot of Wii owners have yet to play RE4 at all, regardless of it already being ported over to the ps2. Like me, for example :(

There aren't any 3rd party Wii games I'm looking forward to. The best 3rd party game that is currently out that I have played is Kororinpa, which I wouldn't buy. I'm sure RE4 is a great game but I simply do not play remakes. There are too many new experiences out there to replay a game I've already finished. I'm looking forward to the big Nintendo games, but there just isn't anything else that is catching my eye.

I'm going to E3 next week. I'm excited to talk to 3rd parties about their future plans. I really don't think you'll see many top tier games announced for the Wii. Remember, this was Nintendo's baby. I don't think a lot of developers even care for motion controls. You'll see the cash ins and ports since they make money, but games like Resident Evil 5 and Metal Gear Solid 4 will not be coming to the Wii.

The good thing is, you can bookmark this post and see in just one week if I'm wrong. It's pretty immidiate, eh? I don't think you'll see top tier development teams announcing exclusive games for the Wii next week.

What the hell are games like Nights, Dewy, Zack and Wiki, Soulcalibur Legends, and MySims? They aren't blockbusters by any means, but that doesn't mean that they aren't ambitious projects.

But it's abundantly clear that you aren't willing to consider any third-party Wii games to be "top tier." How can we possibly prove you wrong on these terms?

GameCube pack with Zelda Collecters Edition
GameCube pack with Mario Party 7
GameCube pack with Metroid Prime
GameCube pack with Mario Sunshine

etc. etc.
 
You know, the Wii supplies will be just getting into that "sometimes I see 'em in stores" range when BAM! Super Smash Bros. Brawl. After that.. well, Smash is Wii's Halo so you figure it out.

No kidding, it made me realize that Nintendo really is bringing the possibility of new gameplay experiences to the table. Trauma Center is excellent, accurate, tough, has tons of re-playability, and is just a nice, polished game overall.

Hell, it's even good for parties. People love watching others try out operations and fail around and panic. Favorites seem to be From Overseas and Life or Death. (operation names in game)

Oh, and Explosive Patient.

Just bought the only Wii sitting out at a Best Buy in Toronto. Wasn't looking for it, but it was the first time I'd seen one ever, so I went for it. Who'd have thought they'd get a shipment on a Tuesday.

That's not true at all. It's pretty clear who the top teams are at the various developers around the world. When you look at Dewy (which does look fun) vs Metal Gear Solid 4, I think it's clear which is the top team and which is a lesser team. It's the same for every company. Do you think Red Steel was made by the best people at Ubisoft?

The fact that games like Order of the Phoenix and Raving Rabbits sell so well is a bad thing for the Wii. Granted, crap sells on every system, but when your best selling 3rd party games are average at best, that encourages other developers to shovel games onto the system.

Early on in the system's life, it seems consumers are ok buying second rate games. That is why Capcom is devoting so many of their resources to Resident Evil 5 while working on a smaller Resident Evil (UC) for the Wii. It's a much smaller investment and will still sell well, so they are able to put time and money into RE5.

Since next gen games are so expensive to make, the majority of these games will end up on both the X360 and PS3. Developers have to choose between the X360 and PS3 or just the Wii (or Wii and PS2/PSP). I think you'll see more PS3/X360 games announced and shown than Wii games.
