Why is Amy Adams even playing Lois Lane?

Kinda reminds me of this guy, forced smile, tired, red eyes.

Laughing out loud at this thread! Too funny.

I mean she's like 10 years older than Cavill, and she looks her age, takes me out every time because she looks so much older than him. Seems like bad casting, not that it matter much with a shitty script, but still.

What a hateful, shitty post. Why does it matter? No one bats an eye at a male lead being 20 years older than his female love interest, and I'm assuming "she looks her age" is meant to be an insult to her looks, which is hysterical.

I greatly dislike this attitude. Intended or not, it represents a lot of problems with castings today. She is a great Lois, and there's nothing wrong with the setup.

I didn't even see her hide the damn spear. Did they not show that part? What the fuck?
the editor should be taken out and beaten.
she looked nice in that bathtub, even though dude was all messy getting water all over the place.

she's older than him? She looks more like a Lana Lang than a Lois Lane tbfh. Terrible Lois.

Huh?

Well yeah. I could be completely wrong and she is great, and the character is just poorly written. But Oscars and crap like it aren't the way to go to convince anyone.

Wait..she's actually that much older than Cavil? I thought she was in her 20s. Dat Hollywood magic. :O

It's actually refreshing to see an older woman romantically paired with a younger man in American blockbusters.

Also, Amy Adams is amazing and charming so I fail to see the problem here.

I greatly dislike this attitude. Intended or not, it represents a lot of problems with castings today. She is a great Lois, and there's nothing wrong with the setup.

I think she's an awful Lois, but through no fault of her own, she's an incredible talent that's been given some downright atrocious material to work with. I don't think it really matters who you put in that role at the minute when the material is that awful.

I have respect for Aaron Johnson for marrying a girl 20+ years older than him and giving no fucks whatsoever about all the internet trolls trash talking his wife. Ageism needs to end.

If Noah showed up at my door tomorrow and asked me to pick 1 man and 1 woman to save from the flood I would pick Amy Adams and Ice Cube.

Margot Kidder was like 5 years older than Christopher Reeves too. A lot of the stories have her as a veteran reporter and Clark as the aw shucks newbie so it's not exactly a stretch for Lois to be a bit older than him.

Yeah I'm gonna have to pile on the sentiment of the other posters. I always imagined Lois Lane to be older than Clark even though I think that's coz Clark is meant to be a squeaky clean adonis looking type. Lois is an accomplished, experienced professional. She's not some 23 year old supermodel.

Also, these threads highlight the discrepancy in gender expectations, etc. we've pretty much covered the issues here.

Her age took OP out of the film. Not the awful writing, the horrible visuals, the awful direction, the downright boring characters... her age.

Put me in the category that thought Cavill was pushing 40. Maybe because of his bromance with Jonathan Rhys Meyers in The Tudors made them seem the same age.

Amy Adams' age is not an issue. Just looking at current pictures I could easily believe she was 30.

Is Lois ever clarified to have a set age? I mean, Bale and Hathaway have roughly the same age difference and they played Batman and Catwoman who tend to be usually the same age. Clark is 35 or so come BVS and Lois is presumably around Adam' age of 41, which is six years difference. Amy Adams is gorgeous and a talented actress, it's like one hell of a reach here.

Even if Adams was 50 and looked it, it's ALWAYS better for older actors to play characters well than for younger actors to play them poorly.

Oh man, I hope a mod ends up changing the thread title. Amy Adams is probably the strongest part of MoS/BvS. She's the absolute center of the franchise; the most believable thing on screen in any scene. And she's fighting an uphill battle making us believe that mopey, self-centered Superman is someone we should care about. That's what she's been doing as an actress, DESPITE her role (as written). Plus she's super hot.

Imagine her in the role if it was in Richard Donner's original Superman opposite Reeves - Margot Kidder was awesome as Lois, but Amy Adams would have murdered that version as well.

Okay this is too much.

Please fess up your trolling, OP. That would be somewhat comforting to know you were really trolling and are not just a shitty misogynist.

It's just one of the things that happens when a thread backfires. Either the OP digs a hilarious hole or just resorts to trolling. But rarely if ever actually admitting to being wrong. Personally I think threads should be closed as soon as the OP clearly shows no interest in engaging in discussion at all with their own topic and resorts to trolling.
