My remarks about the abuse of the term fanboy are general and not directed at any personal insults you may, or may not have, leveled against someone.
But the way you're framing the subject comes across as: if you buy something because you like it... you're a fanboy. That's where this reasoning ends. And often, it is treated as if it has some special significance. As if the fact that people are motivated because they're fans of something means more than it does.
Exactly how is it significant if someone stands in line for the iPhone 6 or for some toy? A great deal is commonly made about this sort of thing, and people usually cherry pick the craziest story as if to insinuate that somehow, somewhere, something has gone too far. Are we supposed to do something about it? Are we really that concerned with what other people do because they want something?
