Why is NeoGaf so predominantly male?

Good thing I'll never watch Sherlock, Elementary for life.

one of the hard to deal with bullshit problems that comes up is that even if you're in a group of like 10 people, just _one_ person needs to bring it up and makes you feel like an outsider. then you feel like you gotta prove it, and your performance sucks, you lose in a 1v1, and you feel like shit.

Oh man. Yes.

Edit: the fuck? Sherlock for sure, though Elementary is aight.

Gaf is predominantly male obviously because its primarily a gaming forum and gaming primarily male. Now with that said, the off topic side of Gaf is far more bearable and entertaining than the gaming side, which is a revolving door of shit now that new systems are close to release.

Some of the OTs are a relative safe haven I think, but then that's because you're focused on a game, possibly one without huge mainstream draw like Rune Factory or Etrian Odyssey that will innately draw a smaller crowd nevermind an import-only one like Sen no Kiseki, and so new console fighting won't really be relevant there.

Pau has spoken! Come to winning side fiction! :D

The winning side is CLEARLY Sherlock, the production values alone....

Elementary is a great show too! But that Sherlock lacks the underlying fragility of BBCs Sherlock, which I think humanizes him and I love :p

Every thread I am in somehow turns into this without me even trying. BEHOLD, THE POWER OF SHERLOCK.

Fixed that for you...

He seems to have a lot of a sassy attitude in Sherlock in the handful of clips I've seen. Not sure if want...

Do you have a BC for every occasion?

It is very likely. If not, I have a Martin Freeman or Mark Gatiss :p

The thing about that Sherlock that is so compelling is that he's had a much rougher time of it. Judging by his brother, he was raised in a very loveless environment, and is thus a mess of outward facing knives. But as you watch the show you get to see these glimpses of what's underneath all of that. His inability to deal with the emotion he feels at times is crippling and nearly gets him killed :p

The Elementary Sherlock seems to have a handle on stuff. He's more together, and though everyone around him talks about how rude he is, he isn't actually rude at all. I do like the fact that they are making Joan a bit more bamf (please please please more bamf Joan), and I dislike the fact in Sherlock that John was bamf as hell first episode but hasn't gotten much in the way of being able to show that off since. (Please please please let John before more bamf)

all of you talking about these tv shows and I want to talk about wrasslin outside of the wrasslin OT. because it gets weird in there a lot.

Sherlock is overrated

But still good and enjoyable

Just not amazing

The RDJ movies do several things much better, and a couple things significantly worse

those couple things better be "plot" and "characters"

I'm willing to allow the films to be better at, say, CG, or having Jude Law in them, for example

Why yes, I do think the films do a more interesting job with the character then the version of Holmes we see on Sherlock who feels like he has been designed to be just neurotic and self-absorbed enough to appeal to self-diagnosed teens on the internet who think they are sociopaths. RDJ's character edges a bit closer to actually being dysfunctional and non-romantically selfish, and that's more interesting to me.

Sherlock has significantly better actual mysteries, which is admittedly an enormous part of the material. But you really don't want to get me started on Moriarty.

Buffy/Angel gifs > Sherlock gifs

The last tv series based on sherlock holmes I watched was .... the first 3 seasons of House =P

I have tons of Buffy gifs too, just not a lot I can use in many situations heh.

I was a huge fan of the books, so I consume all things Sherlock. :p

I love the books too but I consume all GOOD things that are Sherlock ;)

It's good! I promise!

In all seriousness, the best actor on the show is Martin Freeman. He completely owns the subtle humor and quiet badassness that is needed to play a decent John.

Edit: Now we need a title change that says 'Why is Neogaf so in love with Sherlock?'

I'm more tempted to try Doctor Who but they switched doctors which is kind of disappointing.

Its not actually. Its really interesting and refreshing. You get like three plus seasons with most Doctors so its still a lengthy chunk of time and then when they switch you get to watch an entirely new set of character interactions

Hee, they switch Doctors all the time, that's one of the basic tenets (heh) of the show. He's an alien that, when close to death, regenerates every cell in his body, thus, changes his appearance. There have been three Doctor's since the series restarted in 2005, soon to be four.

Trust me. After three series of any doctor you'll come around on that.

I don't know, I didn't really have any desire to watch it until I saw a couple interviews with the last doctor and he actually seemed pretty cool which is what made me want to watch it.

I'll come back when the thread title is: "Why is NeoGAF so in love with Batman?" *slinks away*

There's people who don't like batman? :O
