Why is no one complaining about MS being "anti-consumer"?

hm..what? How does PC gamers getting bad ports from Saints row and GTA 4 Microsoft's fault?

The paid mods fiasco on Skyrim was Bethesda's idea, the backlash was too big and it never got any traction.

They are bringing their games day 1 to PC on gamepass, in the future you won't even need a PC because they will bring it to your phones through Xcloud.

Sometimes i don't understand SonyGAF.
If Playstation buys a studio, that game will not come out in any other platform, you have to buy a plastation.
If Microsoft buys a studio, you can play those games on your PC, sometimes they will port it to the switch (Ori), and in the future they will make these games available to your Phones.

How is that the same thing?

Well seeing as Gta 4 was a straight up 360 port, yeah i suppose nothing!, look i don't want any part of your console war, you defend MS all you want and just blame everyone else even though Gabe Newell criticized W10 and rightly so, , If you can't look back at how MS tried to get into and compete with everything like the browsers, Zune, their Phone etc and failed then thats upto you, as long as i dont need to use their store to play my games on PC then i'm fine but my opinion wont change.

Imagine being this salty over exclusives lol. Been a hardcore PC gamer for over 20 years and it seems like you people never learn. Salty tears over exclusives never end.
I mean, I wasn't grieving about FF7 but was interested, lol. There are so many options for my taste on PC it's not really FOMO or anything.

I don't have a gaming PC, and I won't

I'm talking about one Company giving you options, while the other does not.
I expect in the future as well when cloud gaming gets going TV manufacturers will make TV'S that support streaming and game pass, all you have to do is plug your controller and play.
You will be able to play the game on your PC, or your Phone or TV through streaming, anywhere anytime, while Sony exclusives will only play on Playstation.

LIES!

Convenient to contort the truth to push your point, but any games that are currently in production or already out will remain on ALL platforms. Future games developed under Xbox Game Studios will be released accordingly. EXACTLY the same way Sony did it.

Well duh. They're not going to throw away all that game code and development time. My point still stands. Zenimax games will not be available on PlayStation consoles anymore. Fallout 5, Elder Scrolls 6, Starfield and whatever other games the other studios are working on.

And once again for the mental gymnasts; Sony purchased studios games were never multi platform. The games they make now weren't made until after Sony bought them.

Anti-competitive mostly.

The Xbox fans are excited cause they have not seen Xbox do shit in years and they think this will change things. Some delight in the idea PS5 will not get some games....

You know I love you but don't even go there, considering you have an absolute fit at the idea of Sony sharing their sacred games even with PC gamers. You support hoarding them for the PS5 only. At least Xbox will share these games with PC gamers and probably even port a few to Nintendo.

You and Sony want to hoard your games? That's fine, but don't cry when Xbox keeps their exclusive games away from PS5.

Rare is making Everwild, that's a game made now after Microsoft bought them 🤷‍♂️

Again, your issue is strictly timing. Over time the studios will create new franchises ie., what Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon Zero Dawn, etc. is for Sony, that will be household names for Microsoft, you're just too narrow minded to see the future.

I'm sorry what are you talking about? How is that Microsoft's fault? You still haven't answered my question.

I'm defending Microsoft in this situation because at least they are giving their costumers options while the competition (Sony in this case) forces you to buy their console, that's it.
This thread is about a Sony fanboy attacking Microsoft for being Anti-Consumer because of exclusives while Sony is a lot worse in this scenario.

I bought 2 Xbox 360's and both broke because of 3RL, the fact that you think i'm a Microsoft Fanboy actually surprises me.

as long as i dont need to use their store to play my games on PC then i'm fine but my opinion wont change.

Strange that you say you are a PC gamer first, if Sony bought Bethesda, you would never see another The Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Doom, Starfield on PC or any other platform not named Playstation ever again.

Name me a Sony studio who's IP were multiplatform and sold millions across all platforms.

Sony has been getting a lot of flack from gamers and even the gaming media (for their exclusivity/timed exclusivity deals), now Microsoft comes out and swallows a company whole (and threatens to swallow even more) and no one even bats an eye?... how is that for hypocrisy?

Hard to take this "out cry seriously" when you look at your profile. Plus, MS still honoring all the deals already made and said they would handle future games on case by case basis. That feels pretty consumer friendly.

They are on PC. That's not exclusive. That is just not on PlayStation.

There is only one major platform they are not coming to....

PlayStation still has the best games, even if Xbox bought another 3 publishers... PS would still have better games. They don't seem to get it.

Well Sony has games for NOBODY but Sony and Xbox has games for EVERYBODY but Sony - seems fair.

Bitch move company does a bitch move against another bitch move company. More news at 11.

After most of sony fanboys praising Sony for having spiderman as an exclusive in 3 Marvel games. For saying that they don't want a Demon Souls Remake to be launched on PC at the same time as PS5. For Final Fantasy VII Remake being a console exclusive for a year or so all I have to say is:

"Burn, baby, burn!"

They're not honoring anything, it's a signed contract Sony made for Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo before MS bought Bethesda, they have no say or choice. Keep falling for the good guy Phil routine foolery.

"Case by case bases" is just PR. Whatever is already up and running on PS4 and PS5 will of course continue to be made. Anything else is not coming to PS platforms.

Events really did start getting to a pathetic level. Fucking Spiderman chopped out of a Superhero game because fuck us? No, fuck you, Sony.

i'm not defending Sony, why do you keep bringing them up in your debate with me, your quite clearly an Xbox fan who doesnt like MS being criticized, have you ever used GFWL, i had to back in 2009, it was awful, why do you think it was introduced and is the current Xbox pc app made with PC gamers in mind, your also cherry picking parts of what ive said too,

So you think these various game companies just all of a sudden decided to stop supporting PC games properly for no reason and not want any sales on PC after the 360/ps3 releases and no i wouldn't want Sony to acquire Bethesda over Microsoft, i want MS to support the PC properly as a PC gamer, i don't think thats unreasonable.

Bethesda was probably heading towards a financial crisis, hence the buyout. Last Fallout was ravaged by reviews and Elder Scrolls Online did not produce the expected profits. Also they joined the shitty pc launcher bandwagon. Two heavy blows in a row. But at least one less launcher to worry about.

Your quite clearly an Xbox fan who doesnt like MS being criticized
I don't even have an Xbox.

have you ever used GFWL
Yes, i played both GTA IV and Dark Souls on it.
You still haven't answered me why is Microsoft's fault that GTA IV was a bad port at release.

That's what i have been saying in this thread.

Microsoft is trying to support PC and other platforms, their games will come to PC, Phones , TV's(in the future maybe) while Sony doesn't care about any other platform except Playstation.

At least you will see Bethesda games on PC, if Sony had acquired Bethesda that would never happen, that's why i'm defending Microsoft in this situation.

I don't think my stance on this subject to be unreasonable and i don't see how that makes me a "Xbox" fanboy.

If Sony came out tomorrow and announced their version of Gamepass, where every Playstation game/exclusive would be available to be played anywhere/anytime for 10 dollars a month i'd subscribe in a heartbeat and applaud them for it.

Let's not do this in public, dear!

So Microsoft was supposed to sit back and let Ryan money hat every zenimax game instead? You named two they were in negotiations for a third or next game starfield. Like it or not Microsoft was backed into a corner by Sony denying their platform content. This was a problem partially caused by Sony going over the top on money hats and Microsoft thinking they had zero options. I would direct my anger at Sony and Ryan for backing Microsoft into a corner and getting them desperate enough to up their bid to close the deal quick before pre orders and starfield was a timed exclusive. Between Ryan and 343 debacle they needed a big move as they say to get a positive news cycle before pre orders.

I honestly feel bad for all the decent Sony fans that just prefer PS5* that will miss out on all these great games, but as I said I would in the thread about Sony moneyhatting every 3rd party in sight, I am laughing my ass off at the Sony Bros that were cheering Sony on.

Death Loop and Ghost Wire, 2 Xbox Game Studios games Xbox gamers won't get to play until a year after release because Sony paid to keep them away. The rumor is Sony even tried to moneyhat Starfield for the PS5, now thanks to this Deal Xbox and PC gamers will play at launch and PS5 only won't. Plus Sony moneyhatted FF7R and FF16 and who knows what else.

* Bryank75 Bryank75 I normally would include you in this group not the latter but since you feel so strongly about not sharing exclusives, you're not getting my sympathy on this. :messenger_beaming:

I've been told repeatedly here that people will go where the games they want to play are, or did that suddenly change now?

If they really want to play those games they have multiple options on where they can go to play them.

People don't actually want or can't afford to own multiple consoles to play the games they want. So when you take away games from the larger platform to essentially prop up the weaker one it's a bad look. It reminds me of when those bad banks were getting bailed out by taxpayers.

Sunset Overdrive could've had a sequel, it's an amazing game that will never be seen on Xbox Series X since Sony acquired Insomniac.

This is a good example of what should happen in a capitalistic market. SO was an average to good game that died in large part due to Xbox weak sales and un-diverse gaming demographic. Now that Insomniac is with Sony they have an opportunity to resurrect it on a bigger platform to a wider audience.

Both are valid.

Also, PlayStation Now does exist, and has existed for longer than xCloud.

By the time Starfield comes out, maybe Xcloud will already be working well, so you can add non gaming Pcs and Phones to that list.

I said earlier that MS saw the PC as a competitor and wanted them to move to Xbox, like when windows machines were auto updating to Windows 10 from 7 without the users input to promote W10, so Rockstar who had an exclusivity deal with MS at the time wern't going to release a great PC version were they, because people would prefer the PC version, and that port was terrible, i know i bought it on release and had to use GFWL to play it, there's a famous old list of quotes from MS saying over the years they would support the PC more and more and didn't, so yeah it wasn't just Rockstar in my opinion,

Like i said i hope your right about Microsoft, i personally like to buy my games from different places and use my choice of how to play them, i haven't bought a Bethesda game since Fallout 4 so i hope your right again, but every time the creation club updates the script extender gets broken and alot of mods won't work and i used a load of mods nearly 10 years ago now and the experience is worse, so as before i hope the PC experience is good in the future but i don't want to sign upto gamepass like you, but you have every right to like it, and i have every right not to,

And you were quoting Sony alot and blindly defending Microsoft, so i naturally assumed this was Xbox vs Sony, i don't care what Sony does, ive never owned a console.

Because MS games are on PC. Two sets of gamers are in favour of MS' actions so it's always 2 against 1. When Sony does it, they piss off two platforms so it's always 1 against 2.

Got it.
I'm just defending the idea of giving consumers options, if Sony started releasing their games everywhere (PCs, Phones, Tablets, etc...) and their version of game pass I'd be on their side as well.

Wasteland 3 released everywhere day 1 around a month ago, i literally spent a dollar for it because of gamepass and i loved my experience with it (it's a good Crpg) despite the lack of polish (The loading screen times Yikes), but if you prefer you could buy the game on Steam as well, in the future you will be able to play anywhere with Xcloud (hopefully it's successful).

I guess you can say i'm defending the idea that you can play any game day 1 anywhere, and any company that's on board with it.

Because it was never about being consumer friendly or anti-consumer but pushing an agenda. And it's an expected and normal thing to do in console warring.

Yeah i get what your saying and agree totally, it's just i have a longer memory of not being able to play day 1 or even if they are they don't work properly or having to wait quite a long time to play some games, in which the story always gets spoiled, and a dollar to play a game is great vaue, no argument there,

i prefer the longer more immersive games over a 1000 hours in Skyrim with mods, 500 in New Vegas, Origins and Odyssey are into 300, even Dishonored 1 and 2 i will take my time and explore, so i prefer to own the game rather than have them disappear if i dont pay, it's the choice i like, but i get where your coming from, i just have to see MS do it and improve their PC app for me to support it.

The industry does not operate in a vacuum; and the PS3/360 competition is a lot different than it was today. We have witnessed SONY stomping on MS the moment the PS4 was announced on that famous E3 event. You could not have asked for a better swan song for the PS4 closing with GoT - a new IP that has garnered great reception in both critics and fans.

MS purchasing Bethesda is a logical move to even the odds. All that does is put a larger portfolio under MS umbrella but this does not necessarily mean the games they will be putting out would automatically be the best quality - that fully depends on how MS cultivate their studios work environment and if we've learned anything from 343, they have a lot to prove themselves then just a cheque writer.

Project Athia is another Square Enix game they got exclusivity for. A total of 3 Square Enix games and two of them are from the Final Fantasy franchise. I guess this is how they look at buying out a publisher by prohibiting access to games. They don't have the necessary funds to buy them straight out and own them so this approach is cheaper and it makes it seem like Square Enix are an exclusive Sony publisher simply due to the close association.

Microsoft bought Zenimax.

Yeah, I know, but that doesn't guarantee that Starfield, Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 5, etc won't come to Playstation.

Just because MS bought them, doesn't mean they wouldn't license them out to Sony. No one here has a crystal ball that can magically see the future.

I've said it before, I'll say it again, I'd be shocked if they didn't offer the giant tent-pole games for purchase on Sony, but included in Gamepass. But, unlike some other folks in the thread, I'm not promising it, or freaking out, or claiming that my opinion on what I think they'll do is somehow infallible fact.

No -- not in a million years. But Sony has been sluggish in regards to cross-play, a play anywhere alternative, their "gamepass" option is severely lacking.

They have an entirely different ethos. It's apples and oranges.

Good point. Phil should put Square on his shopping list then. :messenger_beaming:

How is it different if they decide to lock PS userbase out of those games?

The difference is that the studios are now under the umbrella so they are private. Sony has picked up studios as well Insomniac being an example. In a perfect world this would not happen but at the end of the day if it is a privately owned studio it is much easier to understand than a moneyhat.

What would have happened if Sony acquired Zenimax/Bethesda and the PC/Xbox/Nintendo users were up shit creek? I would say the same thing. It is now a Sony studio and as such they are first party to Sony.

This is business and it swings both ways. I imagine in the future Sony will leverage resources to take some third party studios under their wing.

"Case by case basis" hmm....I wonder where I heard that before.

Oh that's right!

Microsoft addresses ID@Xbox launch parity 'on a case by case basis'

Its quite an easy answer, its because hypocrites are gonna be hypocritical.

Just wait till Sony announce they're buying anything and you'll see the same people that called them anti-consumer, that are now clapping for MS, start calling sony anti-consumer all over again.
