Why Sonic Boom's new style is the way to go.

Rouge being a white bat that hangs out with Knuckles and Shadow is just... just think on that and then remember never to be in Sega's head space. :P

I see where you're going. And I'm putting a stop to it. Take another look at her design: the only white on her is her oddly-rounded head. The rest of her is (we assume!) bare skin. And originally, she was depicted as very, very tan.

If she's not analogous to a sistah, she's at the very least an anthropomorphic J.Lo w/ a crop of snow-white hair. And yes, there are still implications to be made there.

Now let us never speak of this again.

EDIT: thread is quickly becoming Awesome Art 2: Electric Boogaloo.

They're odd design choices for seemingly the sake of odd design choices. Sonic's enormous legs and his blue arms are off putting, but I'm sure kids won't care or notice.

It makes me wonder if they only redesigned them for the sake of branding. There's been a surplus of Sonic toys in recent years, so I can imagine the creators wanted to make their characters distinct enough to sell new toys.

Sonic was created as a hip mascot to counter the family friendly image of Nintendo and Mario. If Sonic becomes outdated, he isn't Sonic anymore. Being fast and cool is all he is. Take away cool and all you have is a blue Bubsy the Bobcat.

Sooooo you should accept that the original little round bellied Sonic is gone (until that style becomes hip again) and a new Sonic is always right around the corner. Some will be good, some bad, but thankfully you won't have to wait long for the next iteration.

I hope this universe just sticks with those 4 and robotnik.

Leave those shitty characters like Rouge out.

Make new characters for this universe if need be.

Since when did wearing scarves and tape around your legs and feet become a trend?

Minus Knuckles, the changes are so minor that I'm amazed anyone is having such strong reactions in either direction.

We shouldn't be surprised by this at all. I mean, we all know gamers like to pick apart things (even if they're not necessarily a fan of the series), publishers know this, and that's why Sega was quick to mention that the character designs are separate from the main series, and that this particular title was aimed at young kids too. Anyway, didn't gamers complain about Sonic's change of eye color in previous titles ? Now, I'm not saying Sega has necessarily made wise choices here, but it is what it is, and you can hate on it all you want or not.
