24 years on this earth and I've never owned nor worn a pair of sandals, open toe or otherwise. Even when I was a very very very young child and my mom would try and get some for me I wasn't having it. I don't have ugly feet or anything, but wearing sandals/flip flops is comparable to walking around barefoot--something I don't do in front of strangers. Not to mention its never seemed all that sanitary: exposing your feet walking across grass, gravel, and shit..puddles. Aside from that they just don't seem that comfortable, having a leather strip wedged between your big and second toe, nor does having your toes partially covered and your heel bare.

Also, when it comes to others doing it, its fucking gross.. I'm not trying to see feet all day. Especially guys' feet or old ass 60 year old women. Girls with nice feet or fine, but 90% of the time their sandals/fliplops ruin an other wise nice outfit. My ex girlfriend was guilty of this and I see all the time. She would have a nice top, a nice pair or shorts or something and then some cheap ass dollar general flip flops..ugh!

Stop doing it people!!!!

i rather like wearing sandals, i think they are comfortable

in the summer i rather wear sandals over shoes anytime

I'm in college right now so I'm all about bumming it but I do think you're right about one thing. When people wear some $100 shirt and some $200 jeans then have some adidas sandals its just retarded.

its like 95 degrees out here mu'fucka!?!

The whole sandal/flip flop phenom from my perspective, started up 2-3 years ago where I live. I do not dig it at all. But it's the "in" thing, with the feathered/bum look.

I have hobbit feet and have worn flip flops once in the past 15 years, and thats because I didnt have shoes readily available and a friend told me to wear hers.

I pretty much wear flip flops every minute I'm not in work shoes or at a concert/club/whatever. They're the ultimate shoe.. love not having to do anything but slip them on.

I'm shocked how many I see here in Chicago.. figured it might be kind of a Florida/California/beach type state thing.

Yea, its like, "omg. That outfit is really cu...oh wait. Damn sandals..." I've seen some people pull off the look, but, ugh. I can't stand them.

Sometimes I can't be bothered wearing shoes to somewhere so slippers and sandals are good and lazy alternatives, kinda mixed well with other clothes sometimes.

Chicks love flip-flops. I've even seen some chicks wear them on campus when it snowed. :lol

Thing that bothers me is the sound hey make when they walk.

The only problem I have is when these guys wear sandals with socks. An additional -1 if that same person has dreds. No problem with dreds... but sandals/socks/dreds combo I hate.

why would this bother you in the slightest???

and with said I love flip-flops...

My feet sweat like a fat man in shoes and make social situations very smelly and awkward.

weird...my feet hardly sweat at all, hell I think more sweat was in my socks when I used to run 5 miles a day, from running down my legs than from being in my shoes.

my back on the other hand....

and having a foot fetish I do like the early fall weather around campus

Not a huge fan of sandals, but thongs (flip flops) are awesome! Hassle free, comfy, cheap, stops your feet from sweeating and getting smell, I really cant see any downsides unless it's a cold day...

You would hate Australia! During spring / summer heaps and heaps of people wear thongs!

i think this is a NA phenomenon. Men must where flip flips, cargo shorts, and an extra large t-shirt. anything else (well maybe a polo shirt) and you're gay.

You need to live in a hot climate, your view would change very quickly.

Closed shoes are not very comfortable, esp if you are out in the sun and the shoes get hot, that sucks. Its also humid here so that your feet sweat. If i go running any time of the year my socks are WET. When it's really hot and humid i can lose 4 -5 kg over 10km.

I have exactly 0 winter clothes. If i go anywhere cold i have to buy clothes. I have nothing that would qualify as winter shoes/boots.

What i do have is lots of dri-fit/coolmax shirts, shorts, sunglasses etc.

I love wearing flops. Easy on, easy off, and they keep my feet so much cooler. I have ugly-ass feet, but so does everyone else, so who gives a crap?

NO!!!

Also, Why don't you actually try wearing sandels instead of saying their uncomfortable? I find sandels to be very confrotable and they also go well with many summer outfits. Bad feet are no where as bad as being fat, ugly or having bad teeth. Usually people don't focus that much attention on feet.

I should make a topic on how everyone should have plastic surgery and were latex so everyone would be pleasent to look at.

I live in South Carolina, the LOW last week was like 96 degrees. It that type of heat your feet are going to sweat anyway, and IMO its better to have them exposed than to show them to the entire world.

I still remember being shocked the first time I was in Australia and guys were talking about their thongs. Scared the hell out of me.

You must not have worn a pair of Ecco sandals yet.

lol Japanophile.

If it bothers you to see human feet, then you have... issues.

When it comes to hot, humid weather, there's just no competition. Flip-flops or sandals are by far the most comfortable to wear.

That is what I am saying. I assume the OP wears socks in the shower too.

:lol Do you never go to the beach or pools? Why would you care about walking around barefoot in front of other people?

i don't see why you guy are hating on the op. i see big fat guys/girls with blue nails and toes that are bigger than their big toe wearing flops all the time and i want to fucking punch them in the face for showing me the horror.

i'm for flops if good-looking girls with nice feet are wearing them.

If there good enough for jesus they are good enough for me... to wear to the pool.

Sandals/flip flops is not exactly a new fad. People have been wearing them for centuries. I suggest you get used to it.

I tend not to stare at anyone's feet...

all my sandals have a heel and are a lot less casual than flip flops.

flip flops were a big fad at my high school, i had my fill of them then.

Jesus wore sandals .. and he was a cool dude.

I've been wearing different variations of this style of Rockport sandal for the past decade now. I love them.

Those Ecco sandals look as hot as regular shoes.
You too have never worn a pair of Ecco sandals I can tell.

This is one of the more stylish models they make, but trust me, you won't find much foot-wear that is more comfortable than a pair of Ecco sandalas.

ecco job-hunted me once, wanted me to be a manager of one of their stores (unfortunately i had to turn it down). not only do they make comfortable shoes, but they seem like a great company too from what i learned at the interview!

My feet sweat more when I wear sandals than when I wear shoes (with some power) and socks.

As for people wearing flip flops bothering you, quit complaining about it on the internet and take action. I'm talking about stalking flip-floppers and stepping on the flops when they're walking and making then trip and fall. Eventually people will stop wearing them!

please don't actually do this. it's a painful thing to go through

I agree with this 100%...I just don't get it, nor care to get it.

Because they are comfortable and easy! I wear a suit everyday and having to buckle into those dress shows is a lamenable mess. I always switch to sandals when I get into my office, on come the flippers!
