Why You Should Watch/Read: Berserk

Whatever helps you sleep at night ! I don't really care if you think I didn't read it and you have every right to find it the most fabulous thing, except it was not by a long mile. But keep making assumptions if that hurted your feelings.

It's clear to anyone who read it that you didn't. If you want to convince me otherwise a good way to start is to actually describe it outside of "slugs lol".

I'll also pitch in and say that it's more or less the pinnacle of the art form that is manga. It surely has some issues, but manages to be great despite those.

Yeah, the basic "He didn't enjoy it like I did so he lies" argument ! Keep delivering. Many people here found the manga boring aftera while, they lied too !

The best thing about berserk is Gatts and Griffith dynamics, which played out to almost the full extent in the golden age arc.

Many of those people also give far better written and well rounded criticism than your sad attempt. At least Veelk went into details with his/her issues on the sexual violence in the manga. You just shit posted and double downed on it when called out.

Do I look like a man of straw to you? I didn't say how I felt and I never denied that people could have found it boring. Berserk isn't perfect and I have my own complaints. Address what I've been saying. I was willing to accept your opinions but first I challenged your drive by posts by asking you to describe what you read. A simple task for someone who feels so strongly as to say it was so cliche.

You claimed that the Ganishka climax, the prelude to Falconia, was boring. Some reasons stated was a lack of boldness and insanity. That it lacked balls. And so I call you out for not having read it. Your posts come off as you are someone who read some dry wikis and thought that was sufficient enough to inform your views. I could be wrong so I asked you to elaborate. Instead of describing what you even read to add context/ believability to your driveby posts you keep deflecting.

It's not as nuanced or character driven as something like the eclipse but the Ganishka event is the most significant thing to happen in the entire story of Berserk.
The entire world changed. The armed forces of several nations were completely wiped out by a god-like tentacle tree made out of faces and fog who was, by the way, both an apostle and an enemy of the god hand. Ganishka himself was... it's hard to describe really. We don't know what his ultimate fate was. What we do know is that whatever happened to him tore open the borders between the spiritual and material world and that the arms of his giant corpse(?) spreads out across the sky like giant tree branches for hundreds of miles at least.

Among other things this climax marks the first time we've seen Skull Knight as a victim to causality. The weapon he created to fight the god hand using Behelits he consumed instead triggered this world changing event. It also marks Griffith finding his kingdom once and for all. A final bastion for humans and demons alike against a world torpedoing to further ruin the likes of which has never been seen.

What happened was a lot of things. If your takeaway was that it was a predictable slugfest my claim remains that you only think that way because you probably googled Ganishka and saw a picture of Ganishka faced slugs. I want to know where you're coming from because I am interested in having a discussion. You clearly aren't.

I don't want to come across like I'm attacking you, but I must be blind or something. Hardly anyone has said that.

Gatts? Really?!

If he ain't Gatts he's Gattsu. I can never remember why those mistranslations are so popular.

They were all a lot of people had for a long damn time. Barnes and Nobles doesn't even carry Berserk in their stores despite having loads of other questionable manga of far lesser quality. I remember Borders, when they were still around, had Berserk and it was awesome. I will readily admit after discovering about Berserk my first interaction with it was with fan translated scans that were of terrible quality all around. It made my eventual reread with the Dark Horses copies so much more enjoyable as so much is lost in those poor translations.

At least he was never called "Gattsu-kun."
