Wii Dragon Quest Collection will include Dragon Quest X footage

Why?
Horii himself said that the game would be more in line with DQ8 than 9.
Wheee!!

*rips off clothing and runs around in circles naked*

Been waiting for someone to say that. :)

My Celestian's gigantic freak of nature head on his tiny body, I won't miss it. God willing everything won't look so adorable/chibi. DQ8 had a good balance.

Xenoblade and DQX footage in September - great :-)

You know I wonder if, despite being like DQVIII, if the game will include online multiplayer similar to DQIX (except, you know, online).

No, I don't think that's very likely. The reason why DQ9 had multiplayer was because it was a handheld game, and Japanese gamers are big on social, in-person multiplayer. They don't take to remote multiplayer the same way. It's more likely that Horii will save that sort of thing for handheld games.

Perhaps I was just thinking that since The Last Story has multiplayer, that it's possible this does too. It would definitely be a surprise addition, and I wouldn't be surprised to see something like this structured similar to Monster Hunter.

Well, another thing is that local multiplayer had a huge bug that delayed the original release of DQ9 3 months. Most likely, Horii doesn't want to relive anything like that again so soon.

It'd be great if they release that collection in English, just fucking great. Want those remakes.

I can't wait to see some footage of X.

Great looking package.

It would redeem the entire generation if this somehow got localized. Some stupid part of me is holding out a tiny bit of hope, since Nintendo has been backing DQ in the U.S.

An official English release of the SFC remakes would be unbelievable.

It would be amazing if it came out in English. Did the Dragon Warrior games ever come out to virtual console? I should replay 1-3, maybe pull out my NES

I'd be happy with even a CG trailer...not that DQ does CG anyway though.
Well it could be animated like the video before the DQ9 menu. I would be disappointed if we don't see ingame footage :(

I don't really think that should be a worry :P Horii said they were on the last parts of the game - they're going to have something to show.

isn't 9's opening cel-shaded CG?
i wouldn't mind if it's something amazing like that

replaying 7 now and it had some nasty ass CG
somehow i blocked it out of my memory all these years

Another thing I'm wondering is if Level 5 will be developing. The amount of projects they're tackling right now is astounding.

but non of those projects are by the IX team
so they must've been up to something all these time rite?...

Wasn't even aware Level 5 had teams.

Mainly cause the graphics and aesthetic of their games look so similar.

Think about how many projects they'll start once their American studio is actually doing stuff.

This is kind of a big issue with Level 5!

I think they are addicted to announcing games.

how long did DQ8 take to get localized from JAP -> ENG?

I'm not sure of the actual time to localize, but the Japanese release date was sometime in 2004, and NA got it in late 2005.

We also got a demo disc for VIII, which unfortunately is now a thing of the past.

lol, yeah they are growing as well to keep up with working on next gen platforms. Their 3ds support is already impressive, and we can only imagine what they are going to do for the wii u and the vita. They better have teams though looking at how Hino has aged I wouldn't be surprised to hear he does all the work by himself.

I would honestly be shocked if they release Time Travelers or Fantasy Life in 2012.

I can see Fantasy Life coming in 2012 because the systems and gameplay should still largely be based on the ds version. Graphically it doesn't look like the most challenging title so I would imagine it could make it out before the rest of their 3ds slate. I mean look at Professor Layton 4, that started as a ds game and made the conversion to 3ds fast enough for launch and the entire game was basically overhauled.

Meh, I'll be happy with getting the DQX footage at some point from S-E or Youtube. Localizing this would be a lot more expensive because the SNES remakes were never officially translated. Even if they managed to license the script from the fan translators, the fan patch has bugs that would make the game fail Nintendo's QA.

Besides, the NES versions of 1 & 2 are best left as fond memories. DQ1 is just plain archaic (a stairs command? Really?), and both games suffer from very slow character progression. DQ2 is pretty horribly balanced, since 2/3 of your party stinks. The GBC port of DQ 1&2 is far superior, although the script suffers due to the limited screen space (DracoLord?!).

Day 1. I'm getting the fuck out of this. Nothing will keep me from this! NOTHING!

You should try playing the Famicom version of DQ1, gblues. It's even more fun than the stairs command.

I have. It's even more archaic than the NES version. No directional sprites (your character is always facing south), and no battery save.

BTW did you ever read the PM I sent you awhile ago? :P

Are people still gonna doubt that it's coming to Wii?

The DVD will include a trailer for DQX that looks suspiciously too good.

Then at the end it will say "PS4 exclusive, 2012".

Betrayalton!

The collection looks great. But I am not expecting a Western release.

Anyway, I am looking forward to DQX footage. I hope they find a way to combine the character creation from IX with the distinctive personalities from VIII. Maybe have each party member have specific roles (best friend, rival, princess) or simply names. Then when they first appear you get to create that character and it follows the storyline of "princess". I'd love a system like that, and they can still be voiced and have set personalities.

I havent heard ANYTHING out of SE about DQX in the last hour or so, I dont think its farfetched to assume they might be considering a platform switch. Why else would they be so quiet about it all of a sudden? We havent heard or seen anything but a logo since earlier today.
