Wii U HOMEBREW Discussion Thread [exploits/apps/games/stuff]

I typed out detailed instructions for everyone to understand for dumping/injecting DS Roms. Can you at least to give out some kind of instructions? I can type out detailed instructions for this if I can understand what to do. Being vague isn't helping and is causing more back / forth than what is needed.

I really can't right now as I've got my daughter overnight, I'm sorry. I would do otherwise but right now my computer is on Disney duty

I would like to try the DS injection, but the eShop won't load! Is it just me?
Are you changing the DNS settings back to auto before trying to go to the eshop? You'll need to do that if you're using the manual settings as listed in the OP.

edit:b10 as usual

2x scaling has been the main culprit for any issues for me. The only games with graphical issues or crashes when closing out my games are the ones with the 2x scaling activated. Everything else I can swap between games easily by going back to mii maker.
Can confirm that changing the RenderScale back to 1 in the .json no longer locks up my system when going back to the home screen. I should have known that this was when it started happening. Thanks for pointing it out.

And remember everyone, once you've loaded up HBL and exited back to the home screen, just load up Mii Maker again. Don't do the normal process of loading the browser, etc. as that won't work again until the Wii U has been reset.

Both you and KingWool are doing great work, and I'm cool with waiting it out until you guys can find a solution. Thank you both for being awesome!

Just an update on my DS glitch - I said earlier in the thread that Elite Beat Agents had graphical glitches, but that was with 2x scaling on. I turned that off, and now it's fine.

Yeah I read that, but I'm only interesting in running DS games with 2x scaling on, if that's not completely possible right now, then Wii U homebrew is useless to me.

Can anyone help me out with DDD? I'm trying to dump Twilight Princess, but i don't think i'm doing it right.

I'm following this tutorial:
https://gbatemp.net/threads/ddd-wiiu-title-dumper.418492/

At step 3 on the Wii U
"3. Launch the title you want to dump. It will pause on the logo until the dump is done."
When i launch the game, it starts up like it always does, titeldumper.exe creates a folder but nothing else, and that's all that happens.

I did not try this, but before getting dumped to menu you are supposed to select which game subfolders you want to dump, and this sounds like you selected none. Are you sure you did select some?

I would try using KingWool's guide here and on step 5 press A instead of X to dump the game. I can't speak to having done this myself but I've seen it mentioned earlier that this is the proper process.

Yeah that's where i went wrong, thanks for pointing it out! Got it going now

Next question, will my current save be compatible with the dumped game? Or, do i need to do anything to make it work?

It works fine for most game, all that I've tried (over 20).

Just power off instead of hitting home.

It'll be fine, but what you'll need to do is launch the dumped version once to create a new save location, then copy the save that ddd dumped into that location.

At least, this is what one chap in here had to do with Woolly World.

So what steps do I need to take in order to able to change the music in SSB Wii U if I just put the homebrew launcher on the SD card?

Random WiiU question that doesn't really belong in this thread but will get read:

IMG_3093_ns.jpg

I have this HDD, and its crapping out on me - it has all my WiiU games on it. I wan to put it in a new enclosure with a separate AC power source... but I don't know where to start. Can someone recommend me an enclosure to order online? I don't know what size to get and all that, I'm pretty clueless.

I know, random, but help. :-)

That looks like a Seagate FreeAgent Go external drive, which has a 2.5" SATA HDD inside.

So I'd search for an enclosure to suit 2.5" SATA HDD. However, cheap enclosures are not very good quality. So try to buy a good one.

You could then use a Micro/Mini USB PSU with it

I am not at home and won't be for most of today but I found this thread:

https://gbatemp.net/threads/gba-injection.405340/

If you read through it you should be able to figure out how to use the tool to inject the games and can create instructions off of it.

Did anyone figure out how to make the bottom screen appear as the big screen in config yet? Instead of the top one. For DS games. I have no idea how to configure it.

If you used Brain Age as your base rom, there's a default setting for that in screen settings. I believe "Touch Screen Focus" is the setting you want.

That one is available, but there's one called "top screen" or whatever that is much larger on the TV that would be nicer.

There's no way to get an Xb1 controller to work with the Wii U is there? I don't have any PlayStation controllers :(

Worked firsttime.

Secondtime when i started the browser, I got a 112-1006 error.
Didn't change anything, even rebooted my router.

I also set the same ip-address as secondoray dns. But didn't help.
Can't create a connection anymore. Asked a friend and he got the same issue.
Worked only the firsttime. We both live in Belgium

Is the server down?
Did nintendo blocked it?

It's still working for me. I'm not sure how Nintendo could block it apart from a firmware update.

Most people who had that error went to the wrong address. Are you sure you are going to loadiine.ovh and not loadline.ovh?

loadiine.ovh has stopped working for me too. It was working all day yesturday, but now it's "Error Code: 112-1006 Could not display page."

Edit: Also this was right after "data has finished installing" was displayed on the home screen. I had the DNS everyone is using as well.

Loadiine.ovh is currently working for me...
I have the dns set in settings and the update servers blocked on my router.

That's just the nature of DNSes and propagation and the like. Enough people have reported it down to suggest there is a problem for some people. So consider yourself lucky! ;)

I haven't actually tried it but skimmed the configuration and it's pretty clear how each screen setting is being set. One option will have one big image on the Gamepad and one full resolution on the tv (can't remember the actual values), you just need to swap what is being inputed on the tv with the same thing that is on the Gamepad. But it literally says like > output : tv or something very similar.

Don't know what to say, it's currently okay here.

Try some of the following mirrors:

Edit: According to various gbatemp users, Tubehax DNS itself is down. I guess it got hammered. You can try turning it off for now, there probably* won't be an update tonight.

* No guarantees

Or just block the update sites via your router like posted earlier in the thread and you don't have to worry about DNS's.

I was reading KingWools step my step instructions and this part confused me

1. SD Card Preparation

Place the two files inside the PC folder into C:WiiU

does that mean place them in the SD card, run the program and take the SD card out? or does it mean I need to put those files in a folder on my desktop and run it?

You put everything else on the SD card, and things in PC folder on your PC hard drive. Desktop is not recommended because the absolute path to desktop may contain weird characters, and will be long, which has a tendency to screw up fastly hacked up tools.

I just installed Python 3 and have no idea what the hell I'm doing. I don't understand why people release shit and give zero instructions.
The instructions are fine, they are just assuming that the one who would want to use a WIP project of this kind would have at least some basic familiarity with Python (besides, putting stuff on GitHub does not actually qualify as "release").

You have to run it by adding "python" first (in the folder where "inject_gba_cli.py" is) like this:
python inject_gba_cli --inpsb /path/to/alldata.psb.m --inrom /path/to/new.rom --outpsb /path/to/new/alldata.psb.m

What website exactly?

I believe it's this list:

Block by URL Filtering in your router settings

nus.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
nus.cdn.c.shop.nintendowifi.net
nus.cdn.shop.wii.com
nus.cdn.wup.shop.nintendo.net
nus.wup.shop.nintendo.net
c.shop.nintendowifi.net
cbvc.cdn.nintendo.net
cbvc.nintendo.net

But I have a question on this for those who are more knowledgeable than I. I thought this would just block firmware updates, but still leave access to the eShop/online multiplayer, but that doesn't appear to be the case. Did I just assume wrong or am I blocking more than I need to to prevent just firmware updates?

Will I be permanently banned online for doing this? The DS Injections sound great, but I also wanna play splatoon

It's highly unlikely you'll get banned as long as you don't use hacked stuff online.

What you do need to worry about is Nintendo raising the minimum OS version needed to go online. You'd need to set up some sort of version spoofing to keep access to online if/when that happens.

What do you mean by "does not appear to be the case"? I have those urls blocked, and the eShop works fine for me. Haven't tried online in a game yet, but the connection test in Settings completed successfully too.

Loadline is triggering a Malware alert in Windows Defender everytime I download it.

False positive? Or is the current download bugged/compromised?

Are there tools out there to patch games yet?

In Pokken Tournament I want to try to enable rumble setting for Pokken Controller (which I have physically added rumble motors to)

Cheers guys. Have managed to get things up and running.

Loading times for Wii U dumps seem to be quite noticeably longer than running from disk, though it might just be the SD card I'm using (Or the fact I'm using a Micro-SD in an SD adapter) to test it all out. Don't think it's a very high class one.

Might be your class. I have a Samsung 64 Micro in an SD adapter that's at least C10, maybe UHS no complaints here.

Looking at the card it's only a Class 4, but this was mainly just to test things out with.
Might get myself a Class 10 64GB card now I know it works, save carting all my Wii U game cases/discs back and forth whenever I visit my parents.
