There are some 13 million Wii U owners. Games are still sold for the system, both at retail and on the eShop. We don't know exactly what's in this system update, but Nintendo owes it to their customers to keep the system running well, fixing any bugs discovered, for at least the next few years.

Man we've said it three times in this thread: The update is to block exploits to hack the console. It's normal.

The system itself is a dead knob, and diverting resources to a problem they can't neutralize isn't really working from the last several patches they made.
