Wii U Reality Check - Black Op's II No Native 1080'p Support

*stops each segment of the video* Hmmm so I have to trust someone's opinion at random while they display a blurry video of a blurry segment of a game and use that to judge "sharper and better textures"?

The only thing you can tell from certain from that video is that the Wii U has DIFFERENT lighting... not necessarily better. It's certainly brighter and more colorful.

(edit) The only way to truely compare IQ would be direct feed images of the same scene side by side... I think most (all?) Wii U specific images of black ops have been either bullshots or off-screen... though if anyone can point me to direct feed I'd be greatful.

Thats the only direct feed video of the Wii U version. Forget official screenshots they are bullshots across ALL platforms.

But once Wii U is here i can give you direct feed, but im not sure i shall invest in CoD anyway, since its not my kind of game (hence my giant post history in this thread!)

Wasn't that the most recent BO:2 video shown for all versions? I would guess that's the most recent build right.

I think it's just a later build, not really indicative of the respective qualities of the game on the other platforms.
I hope it actually will be the best version though, but I still fear for Nintendo's online infrastructure, something that's abolutely integral to most people's COD experience, and ridiculously easy to fuck up.

The only thing Nintendo need to do is the adding of friends easily from recently played, and game invites/join within the OS. I didnt play COD online on the Wii so I really dont know how the fuck it worked. I know it wasnt like that though.

Dam thats a pretty big difference in that comparison video even though its short. To think thats a port as well, cant wait to see what devs can do on the Wii U with more time, better understanding of the hardware snd built from the ground up on it.

I was planning on skipping this title, guess im not now.

I'm seriously wondering if the jarring boost in saturation has something to do with WiiU's family demographic - either as something Nintendo is forcing, or the studio being toung-in-cheek.

It's not so much a result of utilising the extra power but a creative decision.

This... though you did miss out on another possibility, that the Wii U port was more "in production" and is just missing it's final "grey" filter.

Who knows though, maybe we'll find out that Sony/Microsoft forced the ultra realistic grey overbloom on developers and now they're free to explore pallettes that can be more visceral (and more movie like, which is what I always thought games were supposed to be emulating)

Oh please, don't base any opinion on that terrible "comparison" video; unless you are willing to believe the Wii U-edition of Black Ops 2 to feature terrible black crush and extremely over saturated colours. The only thing that YouTube link proves is that the Wii U capture video was fucked up while the other footage was professionally handled and is fine.

You'd have to toe the company line pretty hard to see this video as any proof of Wii U's superiority

How the hell can anyone tell any difference between those two at all? Can someone point me to anything superior in the Wii U version cause I sure as hell can't tell, apart from it being brighter when you see the main battlefield.

Sorry, this is probably the best comparison you're going to get until the November release dates.

Wii U version is probably running at full 720p with a much richer and varied color palette than the other versions. Don't get me wrong, this is a horrible way to compare versions of games but the thing that stands out the most is that the Wii U version seems to "pop" more than the Xbox 360's very "brown" approach.

Stop this madness! Open the upper picture in your favourite image editing software, increase saturation - voilà, Wii U version it is!

Comparing texture quality, sharpness etc. is impossible using both videos, as they are terribly compressed (multiple times in a row), with the 360 footage being noticeably more blocky. Colours are extremely likely to be the same across all versions - this is nothing but idiotic fanboy talk typical to YouTube.

If by "pop" you mean turn the color/contrast waaay up and let everything stick out like a sore thumb. Yikes.

For some reason, the Wii U version has a red button on the gun Mason is holding and the Xbox 360 version doesn't.......push for added Wii U content? :P

Just from those screens, I'm seeing more shades of blue on Mason's gear as well. Just saying....don't get upset.

Haha. Reminds me of the 16-bit days, when the 'number of simultaneous colours' was an actual stat Nintendo used to lord over its rivals.

Thanks. I noticed the obvious colour saturation, and it does look like it's sharper on the Wii U but given the crappy quality we can't really tell much from it. They seem to have the same amount of "stuff" going on and my admittedly untrained eye doesn't see anything like better lighting on the Wii U.

LOL, I remember......

It actually did make a difference in games like Street Fighter II on both the Genesis and SNES. The larger color palette of the SNES helped make those games stand out as looking better overall.

Actually I like the kb+m setup. Dual analogs is just ugh for FPS games now.

Kinda funny that you buy a Wii U, pay about 150 Dollar for a gamepad, and then playing the game with your old controller missing out on the innovative features and contents the new controller brings.

Wii U threads never fail to deliver.
