Wii U update live. Nintendo loves us again.

dammit I have had my first hard lock after updating!! It was with need for speed playing on the gamepad. I hope this is not a sign of things to come :(

Other than the hard lock I am enjoying the snappier interface. It's still not perfect but it's heading in the right direction.

it might be an EA thing; the only two hard locks I have had with the WiiU were while playing Fifa 13. The game freezes and there's a weird buzzing sound

It has happened with many EA games since the ps2 era. LOL

Hmm, updated, wasn't really paying attention to what the system was doing. Looks like it restarted, but it's been stuck at the WiiU logo for several minutes.

Contemplating turning it off since it doesn't seem to be doing anything. But I kind of don't want to do that for obvious reasons. But not turning it off doesn't seem to be doing anything either.

Edit: Caved. Power button did nothing so I had to unplug it. Fortunately it seems to be fine.

It definitely updated the web browser. I'm yet to test it properly for any speedups though.

Yup, the video player also got a tiny update in that the arrow down on the gamepad (which was used to have the full screen video on the gamepad) has now been changed to a TV-arrow-down-pointing-at-gamepad symbol.

Well same here actually, 99% of my PS3 hardlocks came from FIFA 10, 11, 12 and 13 :P

And as for the update it went error-free for me, the first time the Gamepad wouldn't update but a reboot fixed this. The speed is also pretty nice now though some things like accessing the settings are still quite slow :( But then again I hardly enter the setting in the first place.

Hmm you still have to copy the whole game file if you want to back up a game save? I don't know if I want to do that right now...

Navigating through stuff is way faster. Focus seems to have been on Miiverse, Browser and friend list which is cool since that's probably what most people use. If all apps open as fast as friends list (on second try) after the summer update, I'll be very satisfied.

Oh and lockups (even though I haven't had one in an eternity).

I've been out all day so I've just updated my system.

Undo in Miiverse is an awesome new feature. No more go back and forth to erase mistakes.
Kind of odd they changed and moved the swap screens button on the menu screen.
Overscan setting is nice. Feel silly for thinking it wasn't possible, but I was basing it on the method they used in Miiverse, browers and eShop where elements moved rather than the whole screen shrinking.

Man, just had time to download and install the update this morning and just tried it

Dang!

booted up MonHun and the startup jingle didn't even till the end. before the whole sing played and then some seconds.

um not saying that all is fluffy and great, but people saying that nothing has changed... not true!

and is it just me or did they something to the colors/brightness on the pad?

I feel like it looks better now... but maybe it's just placebo.

great update, can't wait for the summer one.

I wonder if at E3 if Nintendo will announce plans on what the summer update will do. Update 3.0.0 is going good for me so far and booting up Batman was quick.

I still don't understand why it's still so slow. Every other device I've got that runs is OS from onboard flash memory is near instant.

What we have no is the speed that it should have been at launch. They still have a ways to go before it's where it should be.

The OS is a lot faster for everything except going from System Settings back to Wii U. That one still seems to be painfully slow for some reason.

Regarding the System Settings to Wii U menu being slow, I'm guessing they reboot the console after you exit system settings. At least that's what they've done all the way back to the original DS (actually the original DS just turned itself off completely). I don't have a Wii U myself, but the 3DS is definitely completely rebooting when you exit system settings. Even if you didn't change anything. And the Wii did that as well. So that might be why it's still slow on Wii U as well. It seems like that's the way Nintendo knows how to design their system settings on their OSs.

Great update to reduce the loading times when entering and exiting a game. Nintendo clearly fixed their shortcomings and the loading times are acceptable now.

wtf GAF

I went on in the download management window and it said "no update".
Even clicked on the update image and nothing happened.

So to update the console I had to go myself in the settings... is this normal? Wtf? I think that my last update started automatically...

note: European WiiU

So we should be getting the 30 cent VC games tomorrow right?

Where have you been? lol

Yes. But eventually it would download it by itself.

I'm getting used to it. It's definitely a lot more faster.

The browser is blazingly fast. I hope Nintendo updates the flash player on this.

I'd like a suspend mode. A quick tap on the power button to send it into sleep mode. Please include that in your next update Nintendo.

i think that if you open eShop it will force the download.

Still can't get connect to the Internet in my dorm room post update. Wired connection no longer works... Thinking either coincidently my nyko LAN adapter pooped out on me... Or the update made the nyko adapter incapatible with the Wii U... Called Nintendo, and they weren't really sure what was happening.. Called my network administrator and they said they would "call me back"

.....right

Fucking sucks.

This update seemed to take forever to install with a couple of restarts etc, but at least it's done now and hopefully updates can be done whilst the system is in standby.

Anyway, it feels much snappier now which is good.

Mine actually works better after the update. Before, it was consistently slower than WiFi but now it seems to be faster, as it should be.

So yeah, I doubt it was the update that made it incompatible.

awesome update. holy hell.
especially the adjustable screen size is great.

but I get tons of graphic glitches(horse and bow glitches, etc) in ACIII. I dunno if it's really the update or because I'm in a new part of the game.
after you get the assassins outfit when you travel back to Boston
anyone else?

edit: daaamn at the browser. wow wow wow. I didn't even realize they update the browser

Great update.

I would like it faster if possible, but this sure helps make it less frustrating. It's more enjoyable to keep doing different things on the Wii-U now.

They really need to focus on actually loading times when browsing through Miiverse, Nintendo TVii, and (especially) the eShop. All three still take too much time in intial load up times, but that is more bearable then the constant loading in-between screens. Do we have details on what the Summer update will do?

But yeah definite improvement.
