WildStar: Reloaded |OT| Full Steam Ahead!

Not sure if this was posted here, but I see someone from Carbine(?) posted on Reddit about what exactly the issue is here.
That makes sense based on the lag I experienced

They really need to fix that. Now. It is by far the single biggest issue atm.

That seems like the kind of thing that should've been sorted out before it launched as a subscription MMO. Or during the beta before it launched as a F2P game, if it's a recently created issue.

It never happened at subscription launch, so I'm thinking whatever tech they are using for "megaserver" brought this up, but their player base has been so low for so long it never popped up till this huge influx of players.

The way they handled it at launch was making a metric fuckton of servers to offload the players coming in. Ultimately, this left the playerbase incredibly spread thin, especially when people left in droves due to issues that hadn't been fixed yet. So, they merged the servers, and then when F2P comes in, they get a looooot of people. And they don't really want to make new servers and get back to the same issue they had before, I guess.

It's probably actually a combination of the massive influx of players and the addition of a new tier of account-type, along with global modifiers for drop rates, currency, reputation, and XP.

Free players and VIPs are triggering different calculations for all four of those things on every kill. If that's not handled cleanly, it can annihilate your server.

Spent 40 min in Q for a dungeon (lvl 20) as a healer. Don't know if it is broken or not enough people playing. It was sad, just wanted to heal. Playing in the PvP server.

Dude most people can't play the game, are you living in a bubble oblivious to the server issues going on for the past 2 days since f2p started? :p

well...I give up for today

right now trying to play is like beating your head against the wall...it's just unplayable with all of the lag...95% of the time I'm not even seeing any attack I do and when trying to do Fragment Zero (again) the enemies respawn literally 1 second after you kill them so attempting to actually accomplish anything is completely screwed up

ugh

I thought for sure character creation was fixed last night when mine went through, but seeing so many others still having trouble I'm inclined to think I just got lucky. I popped on right after the servers came back up and probably just managed to beat the congestion.

Two questions:

1. What happened to the buff board at your house plot that gave you daily options for an exp buff? Did they take it out awhile back?

2. I'm on my Dom character on the US PVE server, does GAF have an active Dom guild I could get an invite to?

1. It was there the day before f2p. I haven't looked since the patch if they took it out.

2. We have one but I'm not around to invite atm. Anyone can invite so if anyone else is around they can invite.

I think I just read that they took out the boards.. ah well!

And I'll keep an eye out for anyone here who plays Dominion.

I was able to get in and play last night, after several attempts to create a character on a PvP server. The game's combat and controls are great, really smooth, so that's a relief! I like the art style. The lore seems kind of thin, and the UI is... disconcerting.

I'll play more tonight. I'm on the PvP US server, can't remember the name- Death Shrike is my character's name.

Character creation is currently queued. It took three to five hours for toons I made to appear in both the NA PVE and PVP servers. The PVP server toon appeared much quicker than the PVE ones.

I don't get hangs on exp gains from killing mobs but every time there's a loot drop (regular coins, trash and/or gear) or one of those omnibit coins drop I get a major hang that renders the game unplayable/unresponsive for a few seconds.

The game has been sort of playable today, able to log-in without queues and while I can play the game hangs after killing every other enemy or mob. I've failed challenges because of the loot caused latency and even died once.

That post about the supposed source of the issue is... embarrassing. How does such an issue exist this late in to the game's lifespan.

It likely stems from the merge of 10 or so servers into Megaservers. Though they couldn't know it was happening at that point because most of the player base had already left. Now that players have returned, they're seeing it for the first time. At least that's my explanation.

They're really shooting themselves in the foot here.

Yes, these issues are unavoidable with an MMO launch/relaunch but the amount of players they've potentially lost because of all this could hurt them.

Yes the issues are a bit much but MMO players kind of expect it, or should expect it to a degree by now, hopefully they sort this out sooner rather than later, people that just bail weren't going to stick around regardless...

This is a Wednesday afternoon, I can't imagine what it will be like on Saturday. Same as launch night? Massive queues to log-in, unknown queues for character creation, and even if you get into the game it will be unplayable because of the loot drop related latency.

The better question to ask would be why this wasn't more thoroughly stress-tested before its f2p launch. I don't know what the size of the PTR beta was but the servers were not ready for the sheer volume of players.

On top of the loot drop lag, character creation is queued. Minutes for some, hours for others. And this isn't conveyed to the user through the client or game when they have the capacity to.

Maybe not

But if there are problems now, just imagine the weekend where a lot of potential players are going to have free time to try it?

Servers will melt.

yeah...it's safe to say they could be handling things a lot better than they are

Obviously their servers/infrastructure wasn't ready for the relaunch. I expected some hiccups but having an issue where XP or loot lag spikes the game in an MMO is just ridiculous. That's basically saying 'Well, as long as everyone stays still and never kills anything the game is perfectly fine". All of the constant server maintenance/resets haven't fixed anything. I had a better experience on launch day itself with 0 lag than now with all of their "fixes".

Question about crafting. I'm an Armorer. So far all the schematics I am learning only make assault based armors. Is there any way to learn support schematics?

Made a Dominion Medic.

The ship was so laggy and crowded that MY WHOLE PC DIED AND I HAD TO RESTART IT.

Thanks WildStar

Hmm well support comes into play after 10 or so for most classes so maybe your profession progression is similar?

Seems like a disaster for them because a lot of people aren't going to give up their time just to wait this out. Luckily I have the patience to wait until its sorted out because I have a ton of shit to play.

yep...I'm not gonna give up playing but until I see people here saying things are stable I'm gonna hold off. I'd rather not have "strike 3" trying to run Fragment Zero again. I just want to actually finish it once without 99% lag.
