WildStar: Reloaded |OT| Full Steam Ahead!

What happens if you use /stuck?

You'll just revive on the same room.

I told my brother to just remake the character but He don't want to since he went to PVP Spree yesterday that he levelled up to 14(started around level 6) just by pvp-ing and saved up almost 4K Prestige lol.

So should I make an alt also on NA servers? How many of you play on the EU servers? Still haven't gotten an invite into the guild, that's why I am asking.

After playing this game for most of this weekend I have to say Wildstar is the real deal. The combat is hectic, skill-based, and fluid (especially once you turn on mouse view and bind your two main attacks to your mouse keys), the zones are wonderfully colorful and interesting (no more drab, cookie cutter zones from most MMOs), all the classes feel good and play well, and most importantly the F2P aspects don't stick out at all. I honestly couldn't tell you what the F2P parts of the game are, other than maybe buying more character slots?

SWTOR, on the other hand, smashes you over the head with its F2P features (oh, you want more bag space? Fork over some cash). It's a pretty good game in its own right, but man do they put free players through a ton of friction in the hopes of getting them to spend. Hopefully Wildstar finds a good balance between making enough money to stay alive and continue adding content, and creating a good player experience. So far though I have nothing but praise for this game.

Totally just tried tanking on my Stalker and that was just certainly not a fun playstyle for stalker haha. Transfering my 19 warrior over as I type haha.

So how do people decide who tanks and who deals damage?

Personally, from the little I've played, it depends on your class and playstyle. While I play Spellslinger that can DPS, it's much more effective as a healing class.

Cali tried tanking with a Stalker and it didn't seem to work (I thought it would be a better DPS than tank) while a Warrior is built purely for tanking and some DPS.

the thing auto decides. I queued up for both dps and tank for protostar. it put me as a tank

You can pick what you would prefer to be and it'll queue you with players that take the other roles.

Where does it indicate the role for each member? At least in Fragment Zero I didn't notice any indication, but maybe it's different for an actual dungeon?

It shows on the party grid on the left each role

Not to be a dick but this is just false information. The best tank ive seen so far was a Stalker and Warriors were until recently from what i read the best dps in the game.

I need to level up higher, I felt so ineffective as a healer. Just getting rekt by enemies.

You can use 2 sets of skills from level 6, there is zero reason to level "as a healer" (i assume you mean using mostly healing spells). Just use a set with offensive spells and amps for questing and then make a seperate one for healing when you are grouped

As an avid Smite (and ESO) player, I just discovered automatic mouse look. Makes the game 1000x better for me. Actually feels like I'm playing Smite now.

I can see that in screenshots of dungeons, but it definitely doesn't do that in Fragment Zero. Good to know, though.

It does somewhere tho because in my proto on my esper I asked "so whos the healer" and then I saw somewhere it said I was. If not in the left grid...err I forget where then but it deffinately showed (its the only instance ive done on the esper)

Edit: wait Fragment Zero, I thought you said Proto Acedemy, my bad. Well I've only done Fragment solo on every character so I've never even seen a party frame there :(

i think since shiphands or w/e there called can be done solo you dont need specified roles, but i honestly dont know much. The roles were right next to the names

so yea I guess in the protostar I did, everybody probably queued as dps and I got put as tank since i put down both.

Are there any ways to view threat in game?

I saw a threat meter addon (http://www.curse.com/ws-addons/wildstar/220035-threatmeter) but I don't know if it's possible to view it with the default UI or not. I know threat indicators are also built into many of the nameplate addons like optiplates.

Like irfanator said, shiphands are meant to be solo'ed so you can do them with just dps, so it most likely doesnt show roles in those. It shows roles in adventures tho

Alright, so what class should I play?

I remember hating the stalker or whatever because my finger started hurting smashing the attack skill over and over.

Well, you pretty much have to use skills constantly no matter which class you play. But with the mouselook mode, you can have your primary skills on mouse buttons instead of keyboard keys, so that might help.

How do you activate mouselook mode? Also i'm on Entity-2 now, so anyone able to invite to GAF circle there, please send one to Teknoman Contra.

Is there a cursor key to toggle cursor mode with mouse look? Had to turn off mouse look to click something lol.

You can change it to toggle instead of hold, check the camera section in keybind options, you just need to rebind the key

That's about the best you can do

Fuck yes /makeitrain is the best emote in any MMO ever.

ah yes, the good old dps that likes to tank and then cries "lol do we have a healer?", how I missed you old friend.

90% of the mmo playerbase are in for a rude awakening in this game

90% of the playerbase in this game don't read the most basic instructions handed to them. The amount of stupid questions in the starting area is kind of mind boggling.

Controls > Automatic Mouse Look (BETA)

For Spellslinger it's a GAME CHANGER

Thanks! Also you guys were right about the soundtrack, especially the tremor hills section. Pretty unique and western ( cowboy) feel.

I gotta try that emote.

Started in the weekend, played a Cassian Medic and a Mechari Warrior to lvl 7.
With the Medic I also did the first adventure/shiphand.

Anyway, so far I feel like I'm playing WoW lol.

Not sure about the combat yet but that's hopefully because of my low lvl. (so far it's been spamming 1-2 skills)

Everything looks and sounds cool though so I'll definitely be playing some more.

I'm having a weird issue, Whenever i Left and/or Right click an open space it selects my bot (engineer).

I't makes it really difficult to tank because everytime i press down right mouse to look around it deselects the boss and I can't see the Interrupt Armor and HP.

It's really strange its like clicking ANYWHERE defaults to choosing whats closest to me or something, super frustrating.

Also this means that if I left or right click anywhere, if the next click is a right click I get the "right click menu" for my pet, this has gotten me killed.

Yeah this is what I was talking about in the original launc - the combat feels like wow when it's not hard and you don't have to bother to avoid things or move. Shiphands are super fun, but they're not adventures or indicative of dungeon experiences (and they also get more crazy as you level, of course).

I have been moving out of red zones that showed up when a NPC was loading up some big attack so I guess that's different than just standing there and spamming attack like I would have in WoW.

In that shiphand I had to pull big groups of mobs all the time and just spam my attacks till they were dead, once or twice I pulled too much and died.

The ''boss'' of that shiphand was super easy but again, I presume this is all due to me being low lvl still.

Just hope that I won't get bored while levelling/questing again, that's what happened in WoW making me quit and has happened in every other MMO I tried.

I haven't had any real issues with lag at all but then again I didn't start playing until after the server splits.

Also, can you level from duels or is it only pvp arenas?

my name is Aeana because I cant decide between Esper and Medic. Everytime I log on one I think its my fave. Just playd a bit on my Medic and I think I prefer it again. Sigh

For those of you using mouse lock, do you have it on all the time? If not, what do you have it set to be on during?

I like having it on all the time but I run into the issue of I can't use the rest of the UI unless I bring up my inventory and get my mouse cursor back.

Edit: I was able to successfully transfer one of my previously 'busy' characters by leaving the guild and circle.

Still on the fence about this, but my Engineer/Scientist has 15/16 data cubes for Celestion. How do I figure out which one I am missing?

I don't really know how to explain why, but this game really feels like I am playing WoW back in the day. It just has that same kind of flow or loop. It took a while for it to grab me but I kind of like it a lot now. Where is the PvP GAF squad?

If you look in your key bindings there are ways to get your mouse back. For example in the default scheme if you hold ' (the button above the tab key) you get your mouse back, and if you hit ctrl-' then it toggles mouse look and no mouse look. When I'm in towns for instance I'll toggle it off then turn it back on when I leave. Or if I just want to quickly examine something in the environment I'll hold ' to get my mouse back for a second or two then release it to get back into mouse look.

I've said it before but mouse look elevates the combat in this game 100x so everyone should try it.

I have it set to when moving and when in combat, it seems to work well so far. I usually don't move around when I need to click something anyway.
