WildStar: Reloaded |OT| Full Steam Ahead!

I don't really know how to explain why, but this game really feels like I am playing WoW back in the day. It just has that same kind of flow or loop. It took a while for it to grab me but I kind of like it a lot now. Where is the PvP GAF squad?

I think I remember hearing that the team that developed Wildstar had some members from the team that initially built WoW 1.0, so that might not be a coincidence.

I have it set to when moving and when in combat, it seems to work well so far. I usually don't move around when I need to click something anyway.

Problem with this is it unbinds your buttons if you stop moving. So if you want to use a spell while not in combat and stationary you won't be able to.

For those of you using mouse lock, do you have it on all the time? If not, what do you have it set to be on during?

I like having it on all the time but I run into the issue of I can't use the rest of the UI unless I bring up my inventory and get my mouse cursor back.

Edit: I was able to successfully transfer one of my previously 'busy' characters by leaving the guild and circle.

On all the time.
You can set a keybind for it to unlock/lock.

Some of the houses in this game are amazing.

I have my first two abilities still also bound to the 1 and 2 keys so if I ever need to cast them while stationary and out of combat I have that option. However, I'm never really not moving so it hasn't been a problem for me personally.

So I'm currently a lvl 8 warrior and I plan on tanking all instances while leveling. Should I be going for support loot already or can that wait until max level? I want to know if the assault gear is good enough for tanking.

I was able to find a boxed copy at my local Gamestop yesterday for $5. I gotta say if you can find one it is definitely worth it. 30 days of signature game time, a 'Bag O Riches' containing 1 of 3 exclusive items, 12,000 cosmic reward points (filling up to the first reward in Tier 3), and expands your character roster to 12 slots permanently (only with a retail box copy though). When I claimed the code on the website it was list as 'Retail Box - clearance promo'.

If you can find multiple boxed copies, each code will add another 30 days signature time and another Bag O Riches. It won't expand character slots. I'm not sure if it will add another 12,000 cosmic reward points. When I checked the GS site before going to the store, several local stores had copies. Today I checked again and they are all gone, lol. My local Walmart has 2 copies left, still priced at $50.00. I may get them to price match and grab those.

I think you're going to need support gear since the tank abilities (that give extra threat and such) primarily fall in the "support" section.

How much gear you need, I'm not certain of.

Man it is really hard to find a good team on Walatiki Temple, both matches I'm near/top of the scoreboard and we lose 5-1 or 5-0.

IIRC, tanking spell's damage also scale on Support stat and if you plan on tanking you'll need all the damage you can sqeeze even on the first dungeon(the last boss specifically). So start collecting support gear imo.

About what level do you start to get a feel for the class?

With the 2 character limit, really sucks for making characters to test class potential.

If you switch servers you can create another two characters.

I mentioned this yesterday, but using the double servers you can actually create five characters. Here's how I did it:

Create two characters on Entity. Switch over to Entity-2 and create two more characters. Transfer one of your characters back to Entity (or, if you prefer, transfer one of your Entity characters to Entity-2). This opens up your "second" slot on that server to create a fifth character.

I have a character for each class except Medic this way.

Yeah, but I don't want to invest time into a class I don't like. 15-20 doesn't sound too bad, but that's probably going to be a couple of days.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know that tank abilities scale with support stats, good to know.

All I mean is, if you just want to create a bunch of classes and test them out, this is a way to do it. I'm not going to concurrently level all these classes, just holding them so that I can play them in the future.

Finished up all of the quest lines in Algoroc (and all of the "tasks" that I could see pop-up) so I'm probably way past the level I'm supposed to be but I'm having fun...my Scientist path is already level 8 too

next up is going to Thayd and clearing up a lot of tasks already in my queue and getting my housing started...I'll probably just do the daily log-in stuff the next day or two and just take a small break since I've been playing a lot these past few days

Cool, thanks! I didn't even think about stuff being off/mislabeled because of changes from Reloaded. That would make sense.

Upon further investigation I was clearly wrong... Here are the actual number locations for these things:
-3496.12 -978.83 -6109.82 89.65 (Zin's Landing, by the turret)
-2521.49 -958.97 -4955.77 14.22 (Right by the exit terminal to Ellevar)

If you need them for any other of the starter zones then just give me a poke.

I have been moving out of red zones that showed up when a NPC was loading up some big attack so I guess that's different than just standing there and spamming attack like I would have in WoW.

In that shiphand I had to pull big groups of mobs all the time and just spam my attacks till they were dead, once or twice I pulled too much and died.

The ''boss'' of that shiphand was super easy but again, I presume this is all due to me being low lvl still.

Just hope that I won't get bored while levelling/questing again, that's what happened in WoW making me quit and has happened in every other MMO I tried.

Watch some videos of later stuff, either way questing is never going to be 'hard' - it never is.

Yeah, any abilities in your Support and Utility tab scale up their damage with Support rating (and by proxy, your Assault abilities get nothing from Support rating, so those become situational when tanking or healing).

You can easily tank Protogames without having a separate set of support gear, although threat might get a little rough if you have scaled-down players in your group or are yourself new to MMO tanking. You'll also take quite a bit of damage due to missing glance/crit mitigation and other tank stats. All of that said, it IS the training dungeon, so as long as your DPS are decent you should be fine. You will definitely want a full set of support gear by the time you get 15+ for adventures and later dungeons, though.

Don't forget to check your housing area Renown vendor, as it sells some really solid dungeon/adventure imbuement gear for money (instead of Renown).

Just tanked Stormtalon Dungeon on my warrior soooooooo much better then as a stalker haha.

How so? I'm level 18 on my Stalker and my biggest issue with tanking so far has been gathering up ranged enemies and keeping them close enough that I can generate threat on all of them. That said, I enjoy the active mitigation of using stealth mid-fight + an attack out of stealth to get the extra absorb/damage reduction, so really don't want to have to go Warrior to get the proper tanking experience.

Mobs become a bit harder and telegraphs hit harder, which adds a bit of a challenge. I don't bother to dodge telegraphs early level since they do nearly no damage, but once you get into the middle levels eating a telegraph can suddenly make a fight a battle for your life.

Saw a thread on Reddit that the fastest way to level up is to only do world, zone, and regional quests and ignore anything else (i.e., tasks, challenges, etc). That's basically what I've been doing but mainly because I don't like spending a lot of time in the same area and like getting a feeling of zone progression. Thought I'd share in case people were trying to optimize their leveling speed.

I'm a completionist at heart, it's hard to not do everything >.<

but tasks are quests aswell. wtf? I understand skipping challenges (im doing them for crafting mat boxes) but skipping the tasks, aka the quests, is baffling to me. Then again I always do every quests in mmo zones so. anyway im doing everything, level 24 now on my medic, finished the third zone. these zones are so big that they are great to play the first time as a single player rpg (some really cool quests) but I wouldnt want to touch them again anytime soon on a alt, so im gonna stick with this Medic now tbh. Also its probably my favorite class anyway

The problem is there are a TON of tasks and if you are even 1 level above them they are almost worthless.

Just stick to the story, zone, regional, etc. quests and you'll be better off in the long run.

Now if you want to do everything and see all the story the first time through, do the tasks, enjoy it! For future characters though do like I said above.

Better off in the long run if you want to level quickly*. They still get rewards and are fine to do for people wanting to take their time. It doesn't harm you to do them, it just makes you level slower but you miss out on a lot.

I don't find MMO quests to be interesting in the slightest. To me they're just a grind to get to max level, so if I can skip a bunch of them then I'm definitely going to do that.

Also I'm hearing a lot of praise for the Medic, and it's the only class I haven't tried. I feel like I should give it a shot but I don't know which of my other characters I should replace...

Can't make a Medic on the pvp server or something? If you end up liking it just delete a character and reroll on the server you want.

im in no rush to get to max level and im already halfway anyway.

So yeah since everyone was doing it, my 24 Medic, currently in Whitevale, the obligatory snow zone :p I havent been able to get a group for Stonetalon yet :/

Read my final sentence, I said the same thing :)

How did you misspell your last name?

Here's my level 26 Aurin Esper. Just entered Whitevale. Probably going to take it easy and do a couple of dungeons and PVP before I start doing quests again.
