Now my DVR is broke. I swear Comcast must have found out I was talking shit about them and now they're fucking with me.

After many years, I have come to the conclusion that cable is worthless. The only thing I can stand to watch is Lost and Battlestar Galactica. I borrow those DVD's from my friends just download them after they come out. I'm happy I don't waste my money on garbage.

You know what I did?

Cancelled my cable but kept the internet (much like you are) you still keep all analog channels and clearqam.

I am sure there is someway they could stop it but this works for me. Hell I even still have DVR functions using windows vista and two 360s as extenders.

quality is definately down, since I don't have clearqam support yet, but it works for the amount of tv I watch.

and yes comcast is evil

The only cable programming I watch is:

South Park (available free on the internet)
Hardball
NBA playoffs
The occasional episode of Mythbusters / Man vs. Wild

I guess I can't justify spending $50 / month on it. Maybe I will go DSL + antenna.

Buy a standalone over-the-air HDTV tuner and connect it to one of your TV's Component or HDMI ports. You may also need a powered antenna if the signal doesn't come in where you are. I'm sure the folks at your local electronics store will be happy to help, and to ply you from some dollars. These days, even Wal-Mart is training their electronics employees to help people find the appropriate box+antenna solution.
