Will KI3 ever happen?

I know Nintendo owns the rights and Rare doesn't belong to them anymore but do you think Nintendo would ever revive it? I miss my Ultra Combos.

Well, as much as I like Killer Instinct, I hope Rare make a few more platform games like Conker and Kazooie, the time for fighting games is gone and there is no way KI3 would be able to keep up with Soul Calibur, Tekken or Virtua Fighter.

Does it make any business sense to revive a shitty game in a dying genre?

Uh, dying genre?

Virtua Fighter 5
Soul Calibur 4
Tekken 6
The MK series (whether you like it or not, the series sold very well last gen).

Just because it isn't doing FPS genre numbers doesn't mean it's dying. You're flat out wrong there.

well, i guess it has been a week or two since the last "waaaaaa where's my killer instinct sequel" thread.

i guess the weekly "waaaaaaa why won't nintendo make another kid icarus" thread is just around the corner.

nintendo doesn't own it, the game was referenced in an XBOX game in which the other nintendo owned cameos were removed for god sakes.

Killer Instinct is owned by Rare and if there is a god in heaven there will never be another sequel to it.

350 million to erase this series out of existance is money well spent.

Killer Instinct's one shining spot was the low rent character design, which was memorable for how c-list it was.
You're serious?

The characters were awesome. Fulgore, Glacius, Cinder and Orchid in particular would look amazing with modern graphics.

I ****ing hope not. If there is a God, Rare are working on BK3, Kameo 2 and Perfect Dark 2.

They made a PD2. And it sucked.

You can't take Billy seriously in this thread.

So much hate for this game, but for its day it was an amazing fighter...I remember going to the arcades to play it the first week it came out and being blown away by those SGI graphics and 50 hit ultraaaa combos.......
it may not be a fighting game that will hold up well over time, but I don't think anyone can tell me that they were better off releasing Kameo on the 360 launch than KI3...

fighting games are a dead genre and the KI "franchise" (and i use that term loosely) hasn't had a game in like 10 years. It'd be financial suicide to make a KI3. Nobody outside of hardcore fans wants it.
