They could call it KI3: Broken Beyond Belief. The only good thing to come out of that series is "C-C-C-COMBO BREAKERRRRR!!"

Pimpwerx said:Wow! People are still bitter than KI far and away overshadowed everything else between MK2 and MK3. KI1 was awesome. KI2 was kinda assy. Looking at Rare now, I wouldn't want them to ruin my memories of the series.
People who ridicule the fighting system were just really bad at it. There was a great deal of depth to the system. Speed-ups, slowdowns, unbreakables, etc..., and it really did force you to memorize the moveset of all the characters in order to become better at breaking. PEACE.
Funny that you should mention a Capcom fighter. I think the MvC fighting engine used auto-doubles as well. I've seen juggles, linkers, finishers, air combos, 50+ hit combos, guard crushes, rock-paper-scissors move priority, and other KI staples in that fighting engine too.SatelliteOfLove said:Or, we couldve been standing there, polishing off learning yet another character's Ultra combo, realizing, "hey, all these characters save Spinal are functionally similar at the basics of their combo theory. I see what you did there. Even if no-one else did. :lolGazunta said:Now if you'll all excuse me I have to get back to workon Killer Instinct Party
I've never even heard of that game.Hellraizah said:It breaks my heart to see that people devote time to ask if there will ever be a sequel to one of the worst fighting games ever made and nobody makes a thread about a possible sequel to Garou : Mark Of The Wolves.
Yeah it was a fun game. It was a really good beat-em up. Kicking a mummy in the crouch and sending him into a fire place was crazy awesome. :lolHitler Stole My Potato said:I wouldn't mind another Grabbed by the Ghoulies. Haters be damned, that was a fun game. A hell of a lot better than Kameo, imo.
I would actually really like to see a Jet Force Gemini sequel. I think it could really be awesome with the 360's graphical power.Quazar said:Not until we get a new Conker bitches.
Wow! So you dismiss a fighting game on the basics? An Ultra Combo is nothing more than a finishing move. None of them were difficult, but neither were MK fatalities, and no one bitched about those. You still had to beat the guy for the rest of the match.SatelliteOfLove said:Or, we couldve been standing there, polishing off learning yet another character's Ultra combo, realizing, "hey, all these characters save Spinal are functionally similar at the basics of their combo theory. It's not even like the characters played alike. Sabrewulf and Glacius were different from Jago and Orchid. Fulgore was a bit of a tweener. Riptor and Chief Thunder were quite diffferent from the rest of the cast. If you played with just the basics, you wouldn't get far. High-level players would change the tempo of their combos as well to disrupt breaks. It was really a deep game despite being flashy and a bit gaudy. I think people just saw the hit counter being much higher than what they saw in MK and SF, and used it to claim the game was simplistic. That attitude existed on usenet, not in the arcades. In the arcades, KI was king during its reign. Well, the first one at least.
KI brought a lot of new stuff to the table. The life bar was fantastic. It got rid of rounds, and kept the flow of battle going from start to finish. It introduced over-the-top combos, which every company copied shortly afterwards. It had the best soundtrack of any fighting game ever. It was also updated very regularly by Midway. They had a test site down at Bird Bowl, and paid attention to player feedback. I loved that game. PEACE.

Terrell said:The big problem with the franchise is this.... it'd have to make the transition to 3D, and with Rare's current game-creating aptitude, I just don't think they're up for the challenge. Which is only slightly depressing.
