There is zero indication that it is going to be 3D. There is only evidence of the sprite-based contrary.

I simply assumed a 3D game from this message that has shown up:

Preemptive edit: if you're referring to the "two dimensions can't hold me" message, that is referring to the alternate dimension of the demon world and the human world. He's just saying he's too powerful for both. Not that the game will be 3D. At best it could be a 3DS reference. But certainly it has nothing to do with the game itself beyond the multidimensional lore.

Don't worry. We have seen literally nothing but sprite work.

Edit: Well I tried finding the origins of Belmont Clan Hunters, but I can't find anything outside of Castlevania so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.

It's not Castlevania. It's a successor. A spiritual sequel, if you will.

That said, a lot of Castlevania's monsters and stuff are in the public domain, so IGA is free to use them.

Konami probably has copyright to the name Castlevania and the "scenarios" of each game... Or maybe not? Maybe the story lines are too simple for copyright. Somebody not on mobile could probably find out pretty easily.

"Belmont" is definitely not something you can copyright. But a whip-wielding vampire hunter named X Belmont could be another story.
