But this will blow over once exclusives start and both systems are out, Dark Souls discussion for example .. Hardly any platform comparisons, just gamers enjoying the game. I hate spec wars, so fucking lame. And yes I'll likely get the XBO and later the PS4.

I never said it did have any connection to it.

It's just that DLC had been abused by some companies thanks to people being okay with buying DLC. Therefore that could be twisted into, "You guys are ruining my hobby!!!!"; as is the case with any trend when it comes to products.

Overall, just about all consumer products have lead to bad trends in some way since the majority of companies see their consumes as dollar signs.

I'm not going to judge someone for buying something that I don't like. I find that to be childish/immature.

This is a hobby forum. In the grand scheme of things, we should probably all be ashamed we're spending thousands of dollars on something that could only be considered an investment to other collectors, instead of saving for the retirement most of us will never be able to have.

Ultimately though, it's your money and your business. But this is a discussion forum, and I figure most of us come here to judge and be judged about our purchases, preferences, and, well, judgement.

Yes, you are reading that wrong. If they somehow implemented a system where rental/used games were still viable, did not cost any extra money or require unlock codes (i.e. online passes, etc.), while at the same time allowing every physical disc to be installed and then played without inserting the disc...that would be fine with the majority of gamers on the planet. It would be like PC gaming on Steam with the ability to lend and sell back games. Obviously this is unrealistic to expect from any company moving forward. Continue to hate Kotaku when it suits your opinion.
