I knew I should have bought a phone on Amazon when it was $50...
Now when I try it is $200.

Raistlin said:While I haven't looked, I suspect you can configure it under settings. When you install new apps, it asks you during configuration whether it can use live tiles, etc (and you can change it after). I assume the same is true of the OS apps.
That said, I doubt it's an issue. I'm really not seeing a major amount of data usage from that sort of stuff.

I wouldn't worry about your data to much. I've had my phone since late October and using Live to check email every hour, Facebook and twitter on the fly, I've only used 30mb.The Shift said:Just picked up my Omnia7, quite nice. Feels light and almost too fragile in my hand as I have been using an old Nokia N95. It's a bit bigger than I thought it would be but damn that screen looks great. Synced up Live and Facebook and have downloaded some apps and all is going smoothly so far. Just wish I could get a screen protector or case for it as I don't want to scratch or dent it too soon. Zune works great here, 8GB is ok for now and it's never going to be my primary media player so it's not that much of an issue for me.
One question about data usage - is it possible to disable the phone from pulling live data from various networks on the fly? My plan is only 1.5GB/month and I don't want Xbox Live/Facebook/Hotmail eating that up without some kind of control.

haha same here, still have to go for the 250,000 and 100 games achievements.Brettison said:Ironically while the game is extremely simple, I've found myself addicted to this one as of late.
They've mentioned everything at this point. Which is why I'm switching to "believe it when I see it" mode on this update. I have a hard time believing that we'll see Turn-by-Turn navigation in a January update.thirty said:no mention ot flash for that jan update?

If everything they say is in this patch I can't imagine seeing it before February.
Any decent IRC app yet?Mr. Snrub said:According to Marketplacebrowser.com, 2997 apps!
Raistlin said:Why? I'm not sure it'll be there, but I think you're missing the timeline. The release candidate for the OS was locked down months before launch. So who knows how long this has been in development. I suspect it's been in progress since well before the lockdown.
Heh, yeah I follow Mobile Syrup and saw that too. I'll be getting a BlackBerry for the duration of my co-op / internship though so probably will be waiting for the second wave of W7 phones =PDrFunk said:Firestorm, I got a surprise for you: http://mobilesyrup.com/2010/11/29/m...ices-with-hardware-keyboard-coming-to-canada/

antiquegamer said:I hope phone sell better when Verizon and Sprint hops on board ... so far the numbers that are reported (based on Facebook app usage) are quite depressing.
I think it's a great phone ... Costco is having a sale on Dec. 2nd. Not as good as Walmart free phone deal but still $50.00 off Focus. Thinking about taking mine back and repurchased (silly costco doesn't do price adjust) and used the money to buy a good bluetooth headset.
Mr. Snrub said:Yeah, I'm starting to get discouraged...no word on sales from MS. This phone deserves to succeed...hopefully the first update will bring it up to speed with the competition.

There are probably more people in this thread than there are owners of a Kin.Shanks said:What kind of numbers are we looking at here? Surely not Kin levels of bomba, right?

And why do you think anybody who got a Windows Phone will go to Facebook and "activate" (I don't even know what it means to "activate" you Windows Phone on Facebook).PG2G said:The only numbers I've seen were about 125k Facebook activations for Windows Phone

About 40%.

Iced_Eagle said:This. I doubt a ton of peopld don't even bother instsalling the dedicated Facebook app if the built-in functionality is all they need.
*Edit* Oh, forgot to post in here earlier, but I got my Focus!!!Tons of people were buying it at the AT&T store, but admittedly a lot of them were MS employees since I live in Redmond :lol
Well, developers are already complaining.thirty said:let's measure the success of WP when all 4 major carriers in the US have a WP for sale. samsung committing to WP over Android 2 to 1 and manufacturers like Asus and Acer on board, i honestly can't see how this can't succeed.
http://www.wpcentral.com/developers-making-noise-again-not-receiving-payments-no-analytic-toolsTwo developers, Justin James and Nicholas Yu (the latter making GoVoice) have noted that they won't receive payments for their apps till February, which is quite far off especially if like Yu, your app launched with Windows Phone 7. Going further, the developers complain that there are no analytics to measure how popular their app is--in other words, they don't know how many they have sold.

Yes, I got the 16 GB one off contract for $499. For some reason it says the estimated delivery date is the 22nd instead of the 14th for me even though I ordered it a day prior to the big launch.Totakeke said:Hmm, can you actually buy without contract? I don't think so even if it does display the price?
