I signed in with my XBL account (which I also use for Messenger) when my phone asked me. But I do not want my Hotmail account anywhere near my phone, am I able to change the e-mail accounts (or even just use my g-mail and work accounts together?)

If thats so, Im wondering about their implementation for their webOS-like task switcher. Would it show all apps that are suspended in memory? Would there be a limit to how many it would show because I dont think they would want users swiping through 20 different apps.
Any word on background location/GPS, VoIP, local notification, or task completion? Looks like a good update though.

I agree. Some people prefer the Android or webOS way of managing running apps, but Im a fan of letting the OS do it on its own. The main multitasking API thats missing on iOS for me is just a background internet connection/socket one. IRC apps get around this on iOS by using the task completion API which allows a background internet service for 10 minutes at time. (Its really meant for things like Dropbox syncing)jagowar said:It does look similar to ios in the way it works (they mentioned battery life specifically) but webos in the way it displays (but the tiles do not look live but a screenshot of the last position the app was on). It's a good enough solution for me and a nice balance to preserve battery life.
Nothing on the other api's.
I just pointed it out for others and it was just a short tech demo with something people already know. That doesn't mean it will be the only connectivity we'll see and it's still MWC and not GDC or E3, where we'll see more of that interaction between the platforms.JaggedSac said:I know what they showed, I am just questioning why they were specific to Kinect instead of the 360 in general. Seems like that would have been a far more news worthy announcement. I mean, in a round about way, it does say that it can interact with the 360, but it just seemed strange to limit it to Kinect.
But it's always the same question with Microsoft: We know we'll get new things and it will be cool, but WHEN?!Windu said:awesome so the two big things that people seem to say that WP7 is missing (C&P, Multitasking) are coming this year.
I would like to be able to use it (Zune/Marketplace) here in Denmark. But there's a workaround to get it to work, so it't not that big of a deal.Windu said:awesome so the two big things that people seem to say that WP7 is missing (C&P, Multitasking) are coming this year.

Microsoft demoed the hardware acceleration of IE9 on WP7 against Safari on the iPhone 4 with iOS4. By the time we'll get that update, Apple already released the iPhone 5 with iOS5 and an updated version of Safari, that probably includes hardware acceleration as well. All before MS pushed out that update they demoed today.
Piper Az said:I agree. Whenever Apple announces new things at during annual conference, they are usually available in days (or that very day). MSFT announcing all these cool WP7 features is awesome, but things need to be released now, not "end of March or 2011".

It won't be fixed in the upcoming update, though if we whine enough they'll change it. I'm actually pretty happy i got to the bottom of that, Though it was not the answer I wanted, at least I got an answer.
The reasoning is that they want a consistent experience everytime you open up the camera app.
I'm not sure if every FB feature should be integrated in the OS. I'm pretty happy with the integration right now and I can do the most important stuff without opening the app. Check peoples feeds, like/unlike, view pictures, comment, upload stuff. I don't miss anything as far as integration goes. I even had to take out/unlike Engadget on FB, because it kinda vomited over my "what's new" feed (same reason I won't use Twitter in the people hub). They really should concentrate on improving the official app they built. Add live tile and push notifications for new messages and requests for example.Brettison said:On a separate note 3 things I wish for...
1st they need to update the Zune on the phone itself with better podcast management.
2nd and 3rdly I wish the integration of FB and Twitter was handled in a way that it was more feature complete so I wouldn't need an app. I like the F integration, but it comes off as cool at 1st but clumsy over time. It's like can I do this from what I have or do I need to use the app for this?
Obviously in the same vein I hope twitter doesn't become like this. Twitter has less shit you do though by design so it might be easier to create.
PS:
I missed the conference as well, but read over Engadget's blog. They said MS kept saying the complete web experience, but never said flash directly. Everything they harped on was all HTML5.
and in the comments:Paul Thurott said:In addition to this, the Windows Phone Blog offers a few more details:
Windows Phone 7 represents the best from Microsoft including Xbox LIVE, Office, Bing, Hotmail and Windows Live, adding to that deep integration of third party experiences like Facebook as well as thousands more from developers.
Notice that he doesnt mention Zune there. At all. The word doesnt appear once in this entire post, actually.

The Zune brand is going away. Not the functionality.
I think the Zune brand is unknown by most and disliked by most who are aware of it. I agree its a good set of products and services and in many ways superior to the iTunes stuff. But Windows and Xbox are much better brands in that people are broadly aware of them and in positive ways.
To be fair, its hard to make a new brand succeed in the face of a dominant player in that market. They got off to a bad start and never recovered.
The Zune stuff will continue. But I was told the brand will not, and that with certain low-volume/no-revenue aspects of itpodcasts, for examplegetting them to do anything is like pulling teeth because theres no explicit advantage.

You can do that, I just figured it out this morning. You have to go their profile (in the people hub), then scroll down to "write message on wall" under Facebook.Brettison said:LOL we think alike. I took Engadget out of my FB and Twitter feeds this weekend cause of that reason.
On the FB note though what if you want to just post something on someone's wall? Not comment on their post, but leave them a note? That's not crazy functionality IMO, but I can't currently do that.

Confirmed Windows Phone 7 update 1 was delayed for carrier/OEM reasons, not OS.
~ @RowdyBullGaming You'll see Sprint/WP7 in first two weeks of March w/ WP7 update. (HTC 7 Pro confirmed)
@DrPizza A final WP7 U1 ROM for Sprint/HTC7 Pro is out. The OS matches the emulator build from long ago. No OS changes == carrier/oem delays

It's asinine that I have Windows Media Center, Windows Media Player, and Zune all on my computer. One program that does all the above please!

Now that the delay cause has proven to be the carriers, I get to say "I told you so", then cry about still not having the update.
