Winter '08 Anime(h) Season

I'm looking for a good show to follow and it doesn't need to be brand new or anything. I kinda prefer either comedy or the more serious stuff (thrillerish, I mean). Any tips? And oh, is Black Lagoon anything I should bother to watch?

Seto no hanayome is a good comedy.

Black Lagoon...was entertaining. A lot of potential, but i'm disappointed at how the show held up.

Well, I watched the two seasons of Black Lagoon and it is one of my favorite anime. So yeah, check it out =p

Another positive for Black Lagoon here.

Watched first ep of Macross the other night, think this will be my first Macross series :)

Black Lagoon is fantastic, It is what all those 80's Action movies are in Anime form. Not to mention so many references. Its fantastic. And Balaliaka is easily one of the best characters out there.

And you want something new
Ookiku Furikabutte. Its still going on, but it is awesome. And come on, I've only see one other talk about it here. You need to watch it.

Hm, is Tactical Roar any good? Serei no Moribito? Kemonozume? Otogizoushi? I've seen a few episodes each of the last 3, do they stay good/get better?

Black Lagoon is great. Ookiku Furikubatte is also great.

"And Balaliaka is easily one of the best characters out there."

'Kneel!'

Shit was riveting.

Oh god, She just keeps getting better...2nd season with her was fantastic
episode 20
*Guy tries to stab her but she reverse it*
"Rock Translate this for me, I'll tell you the truth tonight, What I seek is domination and Destruction, I don't have any interest in anything else, I'm only interested in seeing how long I can dance in the pit of hell, See you another day"
*finishes slashing his neck open*
...lesson is...Don't **** with the Russians
She is is so one of the best watch characters to watch. You feel sorry for her in some cases, at the sametime its like wetting you pants with fear. And unlike many others where it feels tacked on with that Normal one sec then psycho the next. She does it so well. Funny enough, for such an action orentied series...The characters in it are so well fleshed out and developed.

It reminds me allot about Robocop also...Were some how, The Dark Humor, Violence, Characters, Parodies, etc...All blend together. And just do it dam well

I've seen two episodes of Black Lagoon now, seems alright. I don't know if I'm gonna touch that baseball anme though. Can't stand the sport at all :lol

The first two episodes are just like holding a girl's hand...You have to watch all 24 And then you are getting the fhuta. Hell the first season is good. The 2nd season is like kicking it into overdrive. You learn much more about it, characters become far more fleshed out, and the jobs are in another league. It gets a hell of a lot darker.

Tactical Roar - not really, although hey, it's got fanservice, if that's your cup of tea then go with it.

Seirei no Moribito - is good (with reservations, but I think you should make your own mind up). If you like what you've seen so far, bear in mind that most of the series is much slower than episode 3...

Kemonozume - if you like arty animation keep watching, but the show's plot goes a bit stupid towards the end. Has some quality control issues, but it's fairly entertaining.

Otogizoushi - the Heian arc is unreservedly good. Your mileage will most definitely vary with the second half of the series, though - give it a shot, it's not bad, but it's not really as strong as the first 13 episodes.

Thanks for the input :D

Anyway, err I didn't mean tactical roar, but that anime where that cruiser get sent back in time to WW2. I forgot it's name

Edit: Zipang, that's it

I hope it gets subbed fast, ive been looking forward to this for a long time.
Yeah same. I was kind of disappointed that we won't get a full fledged second series, but being able to see Naoto Takenaka as Franz Stresemann again makes me squeal with excitement :lol One of my favourite actors globally and he did such a great job in the role for the drama.

Ayakashi ep2 = horrible execution of the drawing/animation.

I never got high hopes since they changed different studios.

It's been weeks since the last sub. :\

yeah

I mean, I really appreciate what sub groups do, I really do...but they need some kind of subber union so they can spread the talent to avoid things like three groups subbing Gundam 00 when one group is obviously superior and has their episodes done the quickest.

Persona Anime 01 is just out ^_^

Also I finally just started Major. I like, not as good as Ookiku Furikabutte...but beats the **** out of almost every other shounen now. I like it as much as Eyeshield 21 which is a good thing.

I'm re-watching Major from Season 1 because I haven't watched the anime in a long time and want to watch this season, since there's nothing else worth watching other than two shows (Persona, Noramimi). I forgot how absolutely heart-wrenching the first 6 episodes are.

Kemonozume would be worthwhile on style alone, but the sexual chemistry between Yuka and Toshihiko is too awesome to be ignored.

Judging by what a group is saying, the reason for the fansub delay was due to the translator departing. They've got the scripts for the rest of the series and are slowly working on it.

Seriously Goro had a fuck up life.

Anyone have an idea if Tokyo Marble Chocolate is out there? Raw or otherwise.

I know 7Th was keen on it so he might know.

Is it just me or does Persona reminds anyone of JoJo? Except the action sequences are less violent and gory. Not sure if I like it yet or not but, awesome to see Igor.

Yeah, it's basically a generic Jojo with the atmosphere of Blood+. The show doesn't really feel like Persona.

The director of Kemonozume just announced today that he's working on a new series for WOWOW to air in April after Ghost Hound ends. It's called "Kaiba" and is a sci-fi love story.

Edit: The site is now up with the first visuals for the show, looks weird: http://www.wowow.co.jp/anime/kaiba/

Looking forward to it, first actually exciting announcement for 2008.

I am playing part 3 on the PS2. Is the anime revolving around the story from the game?
If so, I am going to hold out till I finish the game.

No. It has nothing to do with the game..

I've been doing it online for a helluva long time and I don't feel any particular inclination to stop. Also, throw in my tag and you get three, three, three times the FnordChan this way. Whee!
