I've tried to downport them further to the DS, quickly using Irfanview. I'm sure someone with quick access to Photoshop could do a better job though. I'm happy with the colour and pixelisation, I just wish I could do something about reducing the draw distance and give less detail to the surroundings.

Why not? This was only changing some variables, not making new textures and stuff like that. It's fun to see how games look at their absolute lowest settings.

There is literally no way the ds could output that player model with that much scene detail (foilage etc).

That said, as much as I hate w3, I have to admit this is just a testament to how great their art design team was. The game still looks solid - even stripped of almost all its textures.
