Witcher 3's Blood and Wine is So Far My GOTY 2016

Don't even consider blood and wine dlc. It's longer than some other fully fleshed out titles lol.

mine too though it hasn't had much competition ...and though it has probably the best content of any expansion or DLC... up there with something like my favorite PC expansions like Warcraft 2 Beyond the Dark Portal... I do think W3's Hearts of Stone had a better story, and I think ME2's Lair of the Shadow Broker remains my favorite DLC or expansion story. But B&W destroys those in terms of setting, plot, and content... just meant I enjoyed their storytelling more. Point being, B&W is GOTY quality in terms of content but not so much in its story, and I'd be rather disappointed if neither FF XV or Deus Ex MD surpass it. Though neither of those are certain, and I could easily still see B&W in my Top 3 at the end of the year so who knows haha. Maybe I'll stay at the top.

Bought it but haven't played it yet, I have 200 hours into the game so I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

actually I wonder how many people have.... I ask this because last night I noticed that for Blood & Wine trophies, only 5.6% of players have even got the trophy where you just 'begin' the expansion by arriving in Toussaint. i wonder if it's 5.6% of all Witcher 3 owners or just those that own the expansion via the season pass.

You absolutely should. These expansions are basically games in their own rights. Like others have noted, Blood and Wine alone has more content and value than many full-priced titles out there.
I... yeah, yeah it's mine too. It may as well be a full game with the ridiculous amount of content it has. I loved it more than the main game and had it been out last year I'd have EASILY given my GOTY to Witcher 3 over Bloodborne and it wouldn't even be close.
Blood & Wine is so big and so good that not considering it a game in itself is doing it a great disservice. It's not just "DLC", it's a massive Expansion Pack that's bigger than most full games.

It is not quite my GOTY (Uncharted 4 is so far) but I too loved Blood and Wine. It's better than the base game even...but it doesn't quite reach Hearts of Stone's genius. The land of Toussaint is what makes it my favorite DLC though. To me it is the most beautiful and magical game world that I ever had the pleasure to explore. The countryside, the mountains, Beauclair and it's castle, the colors...*sigh* Alone this huge, gorgeous land was worth the 17€ that I paid. I would have even paid full game price of 60€ for it.

I'm just about with you OP if it wasn't for Dark Souls 3 it would be my GOTY.
The Witcher 3 and it's DLC have set the bar for quality content/$. No other game even comes close. I have over 140 hours in the Witcher 3 and that is all a single playthrough and DLC, no repeating content and no dinking around wasting time (still not done with Blood and Wine). Absolutely phenomenal job by CDPR. Every publisher pumping out $40-$50 season passes for a handful of maps or multi-player modes should be embarrassed.

I absolutely loved the main storyline and its characters, the side-quests were a bit less spectacular. Can't believe it cost me 25$ for Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine. One of those rare instances where I feel I've ripped off the developer.

Even if you hate The Witcher 3 you have to take your hat off to CDPR for going above and beyond what most, if not all, do with their paid DLC, especially when you take into account the very reasonable price they asked for their season pass. I don't do DLC normally because of the horror stories I see (didn't the last Batman game really take the piss?) but it kind of like felt I was stealing off them.
Hopefully the quality and amount of content you get for a fair price becomes the norm rather than the exception.

Technically not, as there is an option you can select from the main menu that allows you to play only the expansions.

Slowly inching my way to level ~35 (currently 15), I can't wait to play Hearts of Stone/Blood and Wine!

You can jump in from your saved game.
You only need level 30 I think to start Hearts of Stone

It's brilliant but ultimately more of the same. Witcher was my GOTY last year. This year who knows... Dark Souls 3 is leading at the moment I think!
Excellent DLC so far just taking my time with it. Story progression isn't quite as strong as Hearts of Stone(hard to beat really), but its an absorbing expansion in a beautiful new land with plenty of great vignettes and added features to experience.
Definitely up there as one of my most liked game experiences of 2016 thus far.

Blood and Wine blows away every DLC/expansion I have ever played, easily. Blows my mind how meticulously crafted, beautiful and fun a world they made for it. And so many cleaver and genuinely touching moments. Crazy!
Hearts of Stone was pretty great too having played both back to back.

The game can be so amazing sometimes yet so clunky on others. i had to cheese a fight because the game was giving me no chance to retaliate. (the living statues quest)
As a witcher you are given lots of tools for any situation but the game does a poor job in allowing you tu use this tools, there have bee improvements but CDPR still hasn't nailed.
Some times it works some times it doesn't, but almost everytime you have deal with how clunky the combat system feels even if Geralt is supossed to be this badass agile monster hunter.
Great expansion anyway, i just wish the combat worked as intended in concept for once, because i really like the games despite of it and not because it.
