I would love to be wrong, but after 9 months of owning a Pro and not feeling like i've realized the value of upgrading yet ( with small exceptions and some VR improvements), I just don't see it happening.
I can't understand that part. For me, upgrading was the best decision I've made in the last year. I can't even put it in words how much it was worth it and how much fun I have with it because I love every second i play with my PS4 Pro and, personally, I'm more than happy in how many games are using it, sometimes with a day and night difference and than there is Super Sampling, my God what an eye opener, I can't live without it anymore, what a difference in picture quality.... I can't even rudimentary understand some of the complaints of some people.
My personal experience was like this. It started with Tomb Raider & Shadow of Mordor and was amazing, continues with Uncharted 4, FFXV (Had no problems with frame pacing, the pro visual was worth it), goes over to a much more stable The Last Guardian and even for that the Pro was worth it, Diablo 3, Horizon FN Zero Dawn (My goodness) an absolute jaw dropping The Division update with Super Sampling from heaven, that visuals are pure art now, some small games like Snake Pass who gives Pro owners locked 60 FPS in 1080p instead of 30fps and 864p on normal PS4 (seriously THIS is an improvement and yeah i know it shouldn't even run like this on normal PS4, but still) Nier Automata, Mass Effect Andromeda with almost the same jaw dropping Super Sampling visuals like The Division and a Tekken 7 which is my newest one and I'm sure I forgot a few more. And I have to say that the 1080p change for Tekken 7 on Pro instead of 900p on standard PS4 was worth it alone again. I simply don't want to play anything not native anymore or blurry, I could not live with that on the normal console anymore. And than there is the boost mode, what a great idea for everything not supported. The boost mode can make some juttering 45 fps games to rock solid 60fps masterpieces like Shantae and I'm loving it.
And to be honest, to be really honest, when I heard that only 25% (or was it 20%?) of every sold PS4 since Pro realease was a Pro I was kind of surprised that it even gets this much of support because for me that sounds freaking low and Sony is happy with that number and expected even less.
Can it gets even better support, sure, I can understand that it is absolutely bollocks when developers gives you better resolution but don't activate super sampling or if a new game comes out like Prey and the support is missing at all in a big AAA game like this, I can understand the thirst for more.
(I personally can't wait for the day when FFXIV finally gets Pro support, it needs it so desperately but until then, Boost mode helps.)
But does that mean that the support we got until today was bad or awful? Or not worth the purchase of a Pro? No, not if you play a lot games like I do.
Maybe I have just a different expectation of what this console has to do to be worth 400 bucks, but with all the improvements I've got for my favorite games in the last 9 months, I still would be happy if I even paid 1000 for it and I would do it again. I've had the fun of my life with the improvements we got in then last months and can not even think about it how it would've been without it.
