I'm ~5 ft 10 I believe (179 metric is 5 10 right?)

I live in the netherlands though, where everybody is taller than most trees :( I am constantly dwarfed in crowds.

On the plus side, my girlfriend is almost exactly my height, however she wins with any kind of woman shoes on. i'm king of barefoot though.

Taller people are lucky, they hold fat better. short people got to work to not look like barrels.

6'2" here.

I sort of feel sorry for girls 6' and up, cause I know a lot of tall guys that have a preference for short girls, but not so many short guys that want tallees. Maybe those are just my experiences though, and not the general consensus.

I'm 5'7"and had no trouble getting women (I have a girlfriend of over a year now) of any ethnicity/height but i think the way I approach women and the fact that I like to dress nice helped me out.

not trying to be a smartass, but if you go to google and type

oh yeah, true. i always forget about that feature in google. i have that conversion site in my bookmarks anyway.

I find it doesn't matter too much, if you pull the cocky and funny correctly

I was with this tall, thin, long legged, brazilian beauty back in toronto, and I was noticebly shorter than her

She was the partying type and kept getting hit on all the time, but for some reason she just wanted to stay with me.

Nowadays, I have a short cute girlfriend, but I get along really welll with the leggy secretaries at work. and i dont' think my height would handicap me

I'm 5'7 and guys around here are easily 6' or higher

Ugh, I swear, Scarlett Johansson is one of those girls that can look dynamite at times but utterly 'meh' at others. She's looking way thinner than normal in that pic and it's sort of a turn off with her.

I hope she's not about to pull a Lohan. :\

Women want a man who will give them a tall, strong child. Not some short wimp. This is obvious...... sure they'll talk with short ones and maybe even say they're cute, but no woman truly picks a short man's winky dink to let loose in her over a tall handsome man who could give her a kickass child.

IF HE'S GONNA THROW 50 YARDS... YOU GIVE HIM 50 YARDS!!!

My dad is puny. Say, probably 5'7". All of his sons are already taller than him. And my younger brothers already dwarf me. My 19 year old brother is probably around 6' and my 16 year old brother is already as tall as me, and is well on his way to surpassing 6 feet as well.

A fun fact that I learned from reading The Post-Truth Era: Dishonesty and Deception in Contemporary Life: most men overestimate their own height by 1-2 inches. This doesn't mean that they're lying about their height when you ask them, but that they really believe they're 1-2 inches taller than they actually are.
Weird, I always underestimate my height since eye level's lower than one's actual height. I always say 5'10'' even though I'm closer to being 6' even (people always bug me that I'm 5'11' and 3/4).

Maybe they overestimate their height and when you accurately state your height, you bring them down a peg or two, so to speak.

I've been measured several times bare foot while another person marked a spot on the wall and used a tape measure to accurately measure the length. Come on people logic and empiricism FTW.

"I can't bare to show my face. Here's my ass."
I'm talking about real-life girls. Most of my "celebrity crushes" are under 5'7, actually.

By the way, I love how all the taller guys are coming in here and acting relieved at this news. "What, women like taller men? Phew, thank god I'm 6'5, I guess I'm set!"

Most girls are anywhere from 5'3" to 5'7".

I don't get why guys would lie about their height. I'm still shorter than my Dad who is 6'2".

For all you stumpy people out there :D , don't sweat it. Its not that big of a deal.

You say this to my quote as if you're trying to disprove what I said.... the fact of the matter is... taller parents = taller kids. Period.

My parents are much taller than yours and that's why my brothers and I are also much taller than you and your brothers.

Also the mother's height comes into play as well of course.

except for the case of my family, where as I just said, puny parents=taller kids.

My mother is 5'4" my father is 5'5", I have 3 brothers + 2 sisters and myself. My brothers and I are all above 6' (6', 6'1", 6'2" and myself at 6'4") and my sisters are just under 6', 5'10", 5'11".

My cousins on the otherhand... 5'5", 5'7"(21 & 23yo) both males, where as my uncle is 6'2" and my aunt 5'10" so taller parents doesn't really mean taller kids.

Height is one of the most heritable traits there is, roughly 90% of the variation in height today is due to genetics in western men. The height of your siblings indicates this. I am much taller than both my parents, but the difference can be explained by environmental factors since my father was born in Poland during WWII. In Western countries the environmental factors that determine height are pretty evened out. Few children face mineral or vitamin deficiency and most exceed the daily calorific requirements. Any variation in height is pretty much due to genes.

Is there anything in your parentÂ’s childhood that might explain this?

I wonder how tall I could've turned out if my diet/nutrition were significantly better while growing up. Not that I ate nothing but twinkies as a kid, but I certainly don't eat nearly as healthy as I do now. I just can't believe with a ~6'2 father I was doomed to 5'8ville no matter what. I have an almost 19 year old sister who's around 5'4, maybe 5'3 (although her nutrition has been really funky for several years due to anorexia/bulemia and all that jazz), but my 16 year old sister is nearly as tall as I am, and who knows how fucking tall she'll be in a few years. What the fuck is that.

Well, you're the one who said height is one of the most inheritable traits there is. I'm pretty sure I share the same parents as my siblings.

My father was also born just before WWII in Portugal same with my mother. My Grandmother/father were also very short 5'2", 5'3" on both sides of my family. They were also born before WWI in Poland/Portugal. My father is the shortest of his 7 brothers and 4 sisters, same with my mother (VERY big families).

My family wasn't poor back in portugal, but with such a large family money was a bit scarce, it was hard to get all the vitamins etc that we needed so we weren't healthy at all. Very malnourished infact :lol

You inhert genes from your parents, but siblings don't share 100% of the genes.

Also I'm sure you have the same parents, the graph was of siblings who also share the same parents.

While children inherit more or less exactly half of their genomes from each parent (and thus -- usually -- have a coefficient of kinship of 1/2) due to the mechanism of two hapolid genomes combining at feritilization, for full siblings the actual coefficient is merely distributed around a mean of about 1/2. Due to chance segregation, some siblings have an actual relatedness which is greater than 1/2 and others less than 1/2.

I'm 5' 9" and very content with my height. I really don't understand why people want to be > 6 feet tall. Tall people have more circulatory issues and consequently shorter lifespans. I think I'd hate the feeling of having everything be too small for me too. Like right now, a general bed is barely long enough for me to be confortable. It's hard enough to find 30x32 pants.

Any woman that obsesses about very tall men is not a woman I want to attract.

i say the same thing about girls who obsess over what kind of car you drive (yes yes, status=money=provider, whatever)

but hey, i'm 5'5'' and i'm practically a hermit. so fuck everybody!

i stopped caring a long long time ago

Just because a woman rejects short men, does not mean she will thus accept every tall man. She may reject all short men, and all tall men who play Mario Kart in the handicap stall.

That's funny, I was recently in at a club for a friend's birthday and I was hanging around the girls at the time. Some guy saw me with them and just as I was walking away to the washroom he grabs my shoulder and asks me if I think he's good looking. Puzzled at first, I realized quicky that this was his 'in' to talking to one of the girls I was hanging with. It was pretty obvious what he was trying to do so I just made it short stating that confidence is most important attribute before leaving. When I came back he failed at picking up the girl, but later on in the evening somehow the girls talked about how they didn't like shorter guys and when I brought up the confidence thing they all just said "oh we were just lying to him"

Luckily I'm 5'11" which is pretty good for an asian I think. Although I've noticed a lot of asian guys are getting tall too.

Because stopping at mom and dad when trying to determine the average height of their offspring ignores a few things, like high school level biology.

I dunno.. my friend is quite short, roughly 5'6" or thereabouts. He is a fucking Italian stallion eh, girls follow him around constantly regardless of his height.

Moral of the story? If you're a short-arse, get to work on those charming skills cause you'll need them!

I believe this.
A real life ancedote:
Drunk tall guy: Clccuccck (like a chicken- nobody know what he was thinking)
Buzzed short girl: Cool I like opposites. How tall are you?
Drunk tall guy: 6 foot 4 feet.
Buzzed short girl: Here's my number.

Fuck Cocky and Funny, it's Clucky and Tall.

I'm 5'7, and I've never had trouble getting women. Of course, when you have a massive cock, it makes things easier, but it's important to take your pants of as often as possible, so everyone knows about it.

Weird (but funny) thing I've discovered is that a lot of tall guys have average and even small dicks, which at first really surprised me (used to do a lot of theater;, everyone takes their clothes off at the drop of a hat). Anyway, these guys would weep at their tiny penises and then you just sweep up the babes looking for big cock. Easy. So, those are my keys to success for short guys. Just remember, most of those tall guys (OK, maybe not the black guys) have tiny dicks. And your regular-to-large (to -huge) cock will look monstrous on your smaller body by comparison! Yay!

Also: If you go out with a bunch of girl and guy friends, then they can all talk about how amazing (and huge) you are, and you hardly have to do any work at all. The best! :)

Not necessarily true at all. Not only by anecdote (both of my parents are significantly shorter than any of my siblings or myself) but also by the fact that it's very possible for one or both parents to have the recessive genes for shorter height and still be able to pass the genes for taller height on to you or vice versa. It's like looking at a series of number patterns, but only looking at the last number in the string to guess what the next number will be.

To all the tall people thanking god - don't you think you would've thanked him already if you were actually getting laid? :D

I think you're being unfair with your sarcasm. I simply said that it would be cool if the world agreed on one system. I never said it had to be "our" system in any way. I don't care which system it is.

We tried that to in the 70's.
