Worms Reloaded coming soon to Steam

Once again, a videogame I'm definitely interested in buying, but only later down the line when it goes on sale. That is, until they announce TF2 hats and items for people who pre-order, then I HAVE to buy it. :lol

How is this game for the people that have it? I'm considering buying, but its kind of ridiculously expensive. Is it bare bones like the console download releases, or closer to a fully fleshed out worms game?

It has a campaign of about 35 levels, some normal levels as well (difficulty goes up everytime you beat the machine), online playing, quickmatch and so on.

All the weapons for the old worms as fas as I can tell, some of them locked and you have to unlock them with ingame money that you get for doing the tutorial and the campaign. You have also level packs, hats, voices and places.

It also says on the help that you can get bonus surprises througth the year! I'm guessing like Santa Claus hats on Christmas and such :)

Seems like a pretty good game for the money they are asking IMO. Plays a lot like worms:armaggedon, except for the crazy rope physics of WA

I hope the Holy Hand Grenade makes the 'Hallelujah!' sound that I grew so accustomed to in Worms Armageddon.
It doesn't. It makes a different, but similar sound.

There's a few things I don't like about Reloaded compared to the older games:

  • The levels are smaller and there's only 4 worms per team.
  • They got rid of the back jump and the vertical jump.
  • Explosions don't seem to send worms flying as far or as often. The same goes for the melee stuff (Dragon Ball, Fire Punch and Prod)
  • The ninja rope is a lot less bouncy, so it's a lot harder to do some of the old tricks.

That's not to say it's a bad game. Some of the new weapons are great (Sentry Guns, Electromagnet, Super Bunker Buster). I've only played the campaign so far, so I'm not sure how they affect the competitive side.

Other things worth of mentioning.

  • Menus are huge. Like console huge. Seems like the interface was ported from a console.
  • Camera craps sometimes as the AI takes control to show you something happening but goes to other place
  • Sound is buggy, some people are complaining that it doesn't work at all
  • Missions are good. Growing on difficulty. I'm on mission 24 out of 35 and can't beat it at all.
  • 4 WORMS PER TEAM MAX. It sucks.
  • Really small levels. Impossible to play 4 versus on them, too cluttered and you end up killing your own team
  • AI is still the old one. Has an error margin on the bazooka but it can pinpoint you with a granade from the opposite side of the level after bouncing it off 5 places. SUCKS big time.
  • Online works really good. Had a few matches of 1 vs 1 (recommended) and 4 versus PRO and it was really good. No connection problems, no lag, no hang-ups

That is everything I can say for now. One thing that I can't find is the customization of the matches online. Seems that there are only a few presets that you can't change. I miss the delay and/or remove of weapons, sudden death from the start and such :(

So not a bad game. But it could be better. Much better.

same, I'd be more tempted if we could get a 4-pack going but otherwise I'm going to wait for the Holiday sale

Have they ever made a great Worms game after the original Armageddon on PC? I adored that game.

I tried a demo of one of them on XBLA. Left much to be desired.

IIRC Worms World Party was pretty good. The rest of them were console ports that, IMO, sucked big time. I got a couple of them and...meh.

Anyway, does Team17 does something else apart from Worms games?

One thing I wish the game had was medals a la WA. I liked repeating missions in an attempt to do better, just so I could nab that gold medal.

Is the back flip still there? I can't imagine escaping from some holes (without using the rope) without it.
Also sucks that there is only support for 4 teams and that the levels are so small. :/ But I have no choice and will have to buy it. For some reasons WWP glitches on my laptop (everything in-game is black or near black).

Backflip is still in. Enter and Backspace now both do the same thing (press once to jump forward, twice to backflip).

Bought. My first Worms since Armageddon.

I enjoyed playing it for a couple of hours last night. Played a couple online games, and my only true complaint is the audio/voice talk that is incredibly glitchy. Some people have been complaining about the physics in-game, but I guess I'm not hardcore enough to care.

One other thing I've noticed is the jetpack works a little differently now. In the old games when you used a weapon while riding a jetpack you'd get unlimited fuel during your escape time. In Reloaded you're still restricted to whatever fuel you had left. It also looks like you can't equip the parachute while using a ninja rope. I havne't even tried rope knocking yet, but even if it does work without the parachute it's not nearly as useful.

I have worms and Warms 2 on XBLA, there doesn't seem to be enough unique content to justify my purchase this time. =\
I was thinking the same thing, as much as I like the franchise.

Had so much fun tonight playing with some mates, we had so much fun we didn't realise and ended up playing for over 2 hours. Great when you have 4 people with mics for MP!

My big complaint is the small levels, I wish the levels were bigger but I don't have an issue with only 4 worms and think that's ideal size for a team but it wouldn't hurt to have the option for more.

I think it's a worthwhile purchase especially for 15 if you can get into a 4 pack but I love worms and think it's great.

Just bought it and can't get on. Stupid Steam giving me some error. 4 worms per team is really disappointing though. I always play local multiplayer and that just sucks.
